The world is so dead to me right now that I paved my property and have been slowley turning it into a skatepark.

I started skating when I was 14 years old. Last time I picked up a board was at a park with my son. I was 28 then, I will be 37 next month...

My skills have turned a little rusty. I'm having a hard time catching kickflips on the regular like I used to, but I'll get them back with a little more practice.

Nailed a couple 50-50 grinds on the small ledge yesterday to the applause of my sons; they are still learning to olley. I hope my old fat ass has inspired them. I also landed a backside crooked grind on the same ledge, that felt good. Still got the backside nose slide, Ianded one on the taller box to my amazement.

Been ordering and assembling these boxes from OC Ramps. Built the kicker yesterday, still needs ramp paint. A quarter pipe and a hip are next on the list.

Wish me luck.

Had a good session today and caught some on my security cameras.

Forgot how challenging it is to ollie up and fifty-fifty grind a 9" ledge. Did my first one today in about 15 years. Excited to work on this more.

Also landed a Five-O on my small funbox, its about 6". Image is kind of shitty.

Quoted from Occelot:

wolfmancat Have you fell yet? I built a box a few years ago, 12" x 8' x 2'. Skated it every day, started to get the chops up again, and then I ollied too high doing a 50/50, and landed on the top which was waxed for board slides. slipped out.. ate shit. Gave it away. lol. At 34 I may be a little old to skate street. I was like 90-100lb in my prime, and now I'm sitting around 190lb.. so.. not as graceful as I once was haha. Anyways, I'm probably gunna build a mini-ramp soon. Was never in to vert when I skated in the past, but I surf a lot, and it's kind of a similar vibe.

Yeah, slams and skateboarding seem to go hand in hand. A painful reality that must be accepted. I even banged up my elbows enough that I recently caved in and started wearing pads there. I'm trying to not let my age or weight phsyc me out. I've been watching Epicly Later'd and a bunch of skate documentaries for inspiration. Nothing more inspiring than watching an overweight 40 y/o Bam Margera learning to skate again.

My worse slam so far was during a bs nose slide on the 6" box, board slipped out from underneath me and I caught all my weight on my left forearm, slamming it on the boxes upper ledge edge. I thought about taking a few pics and posting the gnarly bruise, but decided against it. The pain is kind of invigorating and a good reminder that your still alive. I'm not sure of my weight but if I had to guess I am probably at 225lbs and trying desperately to lose more everyday in order to skate better and just live lighter.

Really bummed out at the moment because I am nursing an old man injury. Last week I went outside and I was just popping some ollies to warm up when I felt a pinch in my lower back. Still skated on it like a moron and today I am just now feeling somewhat normal.

Funny you mention building a mini ramp but not being into vert. I'm recieving a kit to buid a 2.5 tall, 8ft wide x 16ft long mini ramp. Going to build it in the barn. I as well was never much a vert skater, so this should be interesting.

Super random.. I was looking at the FREE craigslist postings just now and it looks like the dude I gave the box to last year posted it for free! HOW FRIGGEN RANDON IS THAT?! sandiego.craigslist.org link

It's a sign to take on the board again!

Yo dawgs! Skating 25 years and collecting pinball for 12. Now a proud radical! owner like a lot of y’all... Stoked to be here! Clytor might recognize some Richmond spots in this video from a few years back.

Sick video. Thanks for sharing. Love seeing you take on those hand rails, something my nuts and I never attempted to conquer. Very nice.

Just enjoying this threads new vitality.

A few boards I have collected. Some to skate, some to hang. It's great having a hobby cheaper than pinball.

Also, almost finished building the barn mini-ramp, just a two more sheets of masonite to trim and install.

All that web on the wall is from Halloween 2019

Beautiful, You really have me wishing for an indoor space to build a mini ramp. The local skate shop has an indoor park. Everything is very close together. They are definitely making the most of their space.
Are you ordering your decks? Or using a local shop?

Got them online, Ebay, Tumyeto and CCS.

Wish I had a local shop to support. I may try and start my own thing if this covid hysteria ever fades out.

Quoted from Waderade812:

The End is epic. Heath and Jeremy shred in that video. Does anyone want to argue about the second song? I had the version with Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty.

Never knew there was a Tom Petty version.

I loved Andrew Reynolds part the most in The End. Best Frontside Flips ever.

Also forgot to add Powell - Public Domain to my list.

Quoted from Waderade812:

Forget which video but Renolds front side flipping the Love park fountain in a leather jacket. Pure badass!

Might be a Baker video. I know they show it in The Love Park Story. It truley is badass.

Also want to mention Skater XL for any of you with a computer, xbox, or playstation. Great skating game that gives you a lot of control over the physics of the board. Its all just sandbox style too, no points or anything. Fun for me when the wife is away and its raining.

Here is my best Skater XL impression of Andrew Reynolds in The End

Whatsup!! Pretty awesome to see so many fellow skaters here on pinside! I used to eat, breathe and sleep skateboarding too. Now I'm over 40 and feels like my body is more suitable for playing pinball and drinking beer I still skate a little bit now and then though, even if I'll just go out and skate a little flat on the street. But nowadays I guess pinball has become my no1 passion. But I'm still a skate nerd, I guess you can tell by my username and my avatar
Here's some of my skating from when I was half my age and weight

Good shit, amazing talent.

Pinball and beer is great. I just don't know if I want to go out like that.

I should start bringing the old gopro hero3 out. Had a good session at the indoor park. Landed a shove-it rock to fakie on the mini ramp. Never even attempted it before today. Took me about 60 attempts. Then got it two more times before heading home. So about 80 tries altogether.
Got an awesome sweat on. Feeling great!

Awesome.

Was fun putting these together.

All five going to foster kids this Christmas. Broken homes make the best skateboarders. Hope they find loving hands where ever they may land.

I found this article last week. Some good advice for us older guys who still are still pushing around.

https://skateboarding.transworld.net/photos/tws-10-deadhippies-tips-for-skating-in-your-40s/

Also, I added a couple quater pipes to the backyard setup. Kind of sketchy learning new stuff on these ramps at my age, but fun none the less even if its just something to bank off of between tricks on the box.

Accidentally posted this up in another thread...

Brother wanted to test his new camera/gimble setup. It worked pretty good for a little bit then started acting all wonky later on in the session

I got a crooks on the curb second try. He was working on kickflips and 50-50's mostly.

It started raining and inside I asked if he wanted to play some pinball and he says "Nah, Im cool just chillin." I'm like huh? Pinball is chilling

Quoted from Waderade812:I hope you got a good response. You probably got some guy interested in skating. I can't for the life of me lock into a slappy crook at my curb spot.
Any tips for commiting to a crook? It feels like I stick on every try.

Best tip is to try for a nose slide but with your front foot over the boards screws, oppossed to the nose of your board. Hope it helps. Next step is figuring out how to get out of it

Haven't done much skating lately due to the weather out here, but I did get to do some day dreaming while assembling these completes today.

Ten of them this year are going to the holiday toy drive. Tried to fit in a few smaller boards for the youngins. Got sizes ranging from 7.0 to 8.5, two boards for each size. Hoping they find some good homes and inspire the next pros.
