Quoted from Quicksilver1:

You aren't wrong. The deck collecting "hobby" has gone through the roof. It's mind boggling to me seeing common reissue decks are selling for $300/400 these days, and some OG decks are selling for.......................................................................................wait for it.
[quoted image]

Holy shit!

#402 2 years ago

Yes NoS decks from the 80s have skyrocketed, that particular Grosso deck at 16k is a true 80s deck and Jeff Grosso unfortunately passed away suddenly last year.

#403 2 years ago

I sold this collection last year for 1k this year its probably worth 3x that or more . The cabi , hawk, mountain and Guerrero decks in those colors and shape are almost unobtainable these days , yes you can find them but , $$$$

I have a few of those.
All the stuff hanging is signed.
The McGill, Guerrero and Mountain are personalized.
I would probably trade you the two in shadow boxes if you ever get your ass us here to come visit.

Yeah, the last few months have been a whirl wind since European travel opened back up.
Been there and back three times since June.
Anyhow, I'm back in town for a few weeks now.

Im 42 years and skatet 5 years ago the last time. Was a fulltime skater till I was 23 years old. Was such a great time. I definitely have to go skating again! Its such a shame.....that I didnt skate the last years.
Video of me last time skating........five years ago

Nice tre and heel flip but the inside heel was something extra!! I used to have them fakie but it feels much easier popping them going fakie, I cant even remember ever landing a regular inside heel in a bank. Well done, nice pop and style.

Brother wanted to test his new camera/gimble setup. It worked pretty good for a little bit then started acting all wonky later on in the session

I got a crooks on the curb second try. He was working on kickflips and 50-50's mostly.

It started raining and inside I asked if he wanted to play some pinball and he says "Nah, Im cool just chillin." I'm like huh? Pinball is chilling

I hope you got a good response. You probably got some guy interested in skating. I can't for the life of me lock into a slappy crook at my curb spot.

Any tips for commiting to a crook? It feels like I stick on every try.

Best tip is to try for a nose slide but with your front foot over the boards screws, oppossed to the nose of your board. Hope it helps. Next step is figuring out how to get out of it

#414 2 years ago

I locked into a few of these nose slides just to get comfortable. I will keep at it.

Speaking of throwing away decks. I highly recommend getting this book "Disposable" if you can't afford to collect them. I am always getting it out to reference or have on the coffee table. I can't believe how much it too has shot up in price!

I've got a cool story about this book.
I have a colleague from England who's a skater - we started going to local miniramps on lunch breaks and such. At some point he told me a story about how he and some friend, many years back, went into some local distributor in England where they had a bunch of old mint Powell-Peralta boards such as Tony Hawk and stuff like that.
The owner let them grab whatever they could carry out on the cheap. My coworker's friend got 5 mint Tony Hawk's that he sold at some point to pay for tuition or something.
So when I read the book, there's a very similar story and I tell him "hey that really sounds like the story you told me". And sure enough, it is the same story and it's been written by his friend. He's even referenced in it, although not by name.

Its October, time to switch over to long sleeve. Pac Sun exclusively sold these a few months ago, not sure if they still do? Nod to Jeff Kendall.

Haven't done much skating lately due to the weather out here, but I did get to do some day dreaming while assembling these completes today.

Ten of them this year are going to the holiday toy drive. Tried to fit in a few smaller boards for the youngins. Got sizes ranging from 7.0 to 8.5, two boards for each size. Hoping they find some good homes and inspire the next pros.

Gave me time to assemble my Christmas complete. My fiance's family think I'm dumb for skating at 37. But it didn't stop them from getting me gift certificates to a local skate shop in St. Louis . (Where they hail from).

Anti Hero 8.63 Beres deck
Ace 55 trucks
Spitfire 99d 56mm
Bones Big Balls bearings

Researching skateparks in driving distance, with bowls. Got a few in mind. Haha

I love my future in-laws!

I remember, when I was a kid, thinking it would amazing if I could still be skating when I turn thirty. Ha. I started at nine and here I am at 45. Admittedly, I haven't skated a lot over the past two years. They just finished a new concrete park near me. Time to get back on it!

Too old to skating now but it was my obsession when I was young.
these are some boards that I saved from when my friend owned Roots.
All 3 still wrapped in original plastic.
The board on the right was a high school friend of mine and roommate for a few years who passed too young.

Just rejoining the pin hobby after a few year hiatus...

We built our first half-pipe in the backyard over 10 years ago now when I was a 40-yr old "young-buck":

I was one of the guys standing on top watching the kids as the hip x-rays at the time came back ok but was still aching, since then like many others I'm enjoying electric - a Dualtron Ultra 2 has become a good friend.....

But, like the pin thing, I started collecting boards around 1998 from the hey-day, wasn't sure why.... just liked the old stuff.

Here is what currently hangs, a lot in storage, a lot of reissues mixed in w/ OG's (can't tell which Ripsaws are OG vs reissue) a lot are signed, some art boards in there as well primarily in the washroom lol.

Only posted pics in the past to Skull & Bones, nice to see collections of others.

I’ve been working with the city for four years to get a park built and we just got the go ahead from city council. We have a 2.3 million dollar budget and a great piece of land, the plan is to build a 40,000 sqft park with a 20,000 sqft pump track. I’m also opening a skate shop close by. Hopefully breaking ground early spring next year so if anyone is in the Detroit area please stop in.

And yes we will definitely have pinball at the shop.

Anyone know anything about 70s decks?

Every Friday, I usually get up early and hit the sketchy free park here in town. Saw this thrown off in the weeds. Doesn't look like it's been there long, there's no water damage. Oaks East deck, Tracker trucks, Kryptonics wheels... probably a pretty nice setup in its day.
