Quoted from Darkwing:

First board I ever grip taped myself. Can you tell I'm a pinhead?

Quoted from TheLaw:

Psycho Stick was my first deck.

Though I was never any good at skating, I love its history. Check out this movie if you have a chance. Signal Hill Speed Run. A lot of names and faces from the early days.

I used to sk8 all the time as a kid and I was sponsored by a local bike shop to freestyle bmx on bikes. I don't skate anymore but I do ride a Santa Cruz Jackal around with my 8 year old daughter. She gets mad when I do tricks because she's afraid I'll get hurt. Now days, I keep the decks on the wall. My 1986 Haro Master is hanging up too.

I bought my first real deck in 1984 when I moved to California after college. We skated streets, ditches, DelMar and Upland. A few years later I was an artist at Vision and was still skating every day. Sold the quiver in the 90s but recently set up a new Sims deck with titanium Indys and black Rat Bones. I can't ride as well as I used to but it's still fun.

I had an empty wall in my basement pinball room. I figured I'd use it to display some of my old boards.

Stoked to see there are so many skaters on Pinside!!! I'm still at it at 46 years old. Attached are pics of the new mini I built in my garage, a post session pic with Cab at my friend Tom's Bowl, and Tom's incredible and personal concrete Skate Park called Whip Snake. Find me if you're ever in Charlotte and want to skate....or play pinball.

Those who like pinball and skateboarding, check out Penn Skate in Allentown, PA. It's a skatepark with an arcade that includes 15 or so pretty unique pinball machines as well as additional arcade games.

Thanks, brother! Hahah, yes. My friend skates Indys and loves them. I have been on Venture trucks for 11 years! Light weight but not too light! Thunders though... too light for me hahaha

Ive actually never skated anything but Indy's. They're not the lightest, but they're heavy duty and will last almost forever.

Back in 2007 when I started, Ventures were excellent! Then they sold out over seas and haven't been quite the same Still great! But not like the old ones that were made in the U.S

I built my kids some old school boards and decided to get myself one, so I can skate with them. Built the son a Santa Cruz Slasher(same one I had growing up), my daughter a Vision Psycho Stick, and I got a Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp. Hope I don't break my neck! Skate or Die!!!!!!

From the beginning(frighteningly it's been 31 years)-I've ridden Trackers, Indys, Thunders, Ventures and have a pair of Aces right now. I've probably been more a Venture guy than anything though.

I can spot out Tony, Gonz, Cab, & Lance.

I still throw down from time to time. Things hurt more at 41 than they did at 17.

I don't think Gonz was ever on Powell Peralta. That Chin picture above is McGill, Guerrero, Hawk, Caballero, and Mountain.

Any idea what an original Tony Alva board might be worth? Think it is from 1975-1977? Thanks.

Ha funny I just saw this thread! My daughter and I are in North Carolina from PA on vacation seeing family, right on the Tennessee boarder.

Anyway she crashed and burned hard in Tennessee while visiting friends.

Both elbows, knees and arms. Pretty hard.

She is 13 and just learning.

Her comment was well at least now I can say I crashed in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Tennessee.

She got back up each time and kept trying!!!

Part of me wants to stop in every state one way home to watch her crash and burn now!!!

A good set of Rector knee pads goes a Long way .
Knee pads , wrist guards and a helmet at that age .
