    The Tesla accelerates very fast. But it does not stop or turn as fast as other performance cars because it is much heavier. You never hear of a Tesla turning fast laps on a race track (for more than 1 lap anyway) because driving it hard heats the batteries so much that the system reduces the power output significantly. Someone tried to run a hot lap on the Nurburgring and the car reduced power 3 minutes in.

    So as a fast accelerating electric car that will probably go a million miles it is great. But if you are after pure performance lighter cars will be much faster overall.
