I am doing the research to pit together a tube amp hi fi system. I had a hell of a solid state system with mostly adcom equipment and old school Polk speakers. I had 2 amps bridged and I have a really sharp ear.
I want to restart my music collection in vinyl again and really what I am looking for is some others with experience in this niche, and to hear their opinion on the equipment they prefer and how to set up. Also I would like to know if there are any places in mi who cater to this style of equipment. Please pm at [email protected]

Or if you have owned a tube system and believe it is not worth the trouble and money.

Hi Kruz,

Although far from an expert, I am a tube audio enthusiast. I started by rebuilding vintage tube radios and progressed to amps. I'm currently running a Scott 299a into a couple of Klipsch KG4 horn speakers. Horns and tubes work very well together by the way. It's a modest setup by tube standards but I love the sound.

By all means give it a try. Since you have sharp ears you'll really appreciate the ability to tailor the system sound by tube rolling (swapping tubes to achieve different sound characteristics). It's well worth trouble and very satisfying.

big tube guy here. SET monoblocks, 300b and 45 type, vinyl, klipsch horn speakers, etc.
