I know Reese Rails is closed for the time being... anyone know of another supplier in the mix currently? I've got a Playboy in the wings ready for a restoration, and making these would be my one blind spot.

Pinball Life sells some that are wrapped black wood grain plastic. I bought some. They seem pretty decent.

You can buy 1/2" thick oak at Home Depot.
rip it to 1" strips (surely u know 1 person with a tablesaw), sand, spray sg black.
    Easy.

I wouldn't use an 'open-grain' wood like oak if your planning on painting anyway. A tighter grained would like Maple would be better the originals are more likely popular. Also check dimensions, maybe 1 1/8" depending on the game. As a personal mod on my EB Deluxe, I decided to try natural Oak which works with this theme IMO.

Vinyl wrapped pine are original crap.
Painted oak was the standard previously.
    Like this.

Just sanded and repainted the rails on a 1970 Williams Gay 90's. Two were poplar and one was oak. Easy enough and the rails look great.

Yes I could make these. But I’d need the originals for a template.

I have already made Bally KISS rails (I ha e an add for these). Reach out to me if interested.

Most rails are 1/2” wide by 1 1/8” tall, but they do vary by game. Home Depot carries 1/2”x 3” x 3’ if you can find it in store, online they are no longer selling 1/2” oak.

I used oak as finishing it with lacquer gave the look of original rails.

Playboy is tough as the finish is a pinkish/purple, I used a mix of several dyes prior to finishing in clear lacquer. They are towards the back in this pic. Custom colors are always a bitch.

Good luck, sorry I can’t help you out right now.

Of course. If you find someone and they need some info on matching the color tell them to hit me up. I bought some powdered pink dye that I used that I could send to them, it goes a long way.

Make your own. 1/2” oak ripped down to height and cut to length. Ebony stain.
