Not a big cigar smoker but bought a variety pack a while back. Really enjoyed the Serino Wayfarer and the Good Cigar Co Voyager. I have a feeling the 2nd 1 is private labeled. Any recommendations based on those 2 choices?
I have learned that I generally don’t like the back 1/3 of a cigar as it gets too hot. So I guess I’ll smoke some big ol’ ones from now on.

Had a coworker give me 1 of these to try. Pretty good. Nice white pepper taste after the initial leather - 4C26567C-2E61-4901-A992-C82B64C5F92D (resized).jpeg4C26567C-2E61-4901-A992-C82B64C5F92D (resized).jpeg

I’ve used small batch cigars for my last couple of purchases. Anyone have any other sites to recommend?

I think my coworker is spoiling me. This Davidoff white was fantastic on a pretty Sunday evening

$3 cigar for the win. First 1/3 is pretty sugary. Settles down to a decent balance of pepper and sugar by the middle 1/3. Haven’t gotten to the back end yet. Didn’t even realize id bought a flavored cap until I thought I was smoking cotton candy. Different and for $3 it ain’t bad.

Quoted from EJS:

Have you had any other Factory Smokes? Are there some you’d recommend? I’ve seen these before but haven’t tried.
I’m finding that my collection has cheap sticks at $7 or $8 so if I have people over or if I’m around others who want to join me who are NOT cigar smokers it would be nice to have something where I could pass around 4 or 5 and not be out the better part of $100 for the night.
I used to do this with baccarat but even those are pushing into higher prices these days.

First 1. Just walked around the cigar store picking up random stuff making my own sampler pack. The box was less than 1/4 full and the wrapper color got me. Price made it a no brainer. I’ll take 1 for the team and pick up some additional styles. At the $2-4 stick price even if I throw it away 1/2 way through it’s a win. Most of the sampler packs I’ve been buying are around $7-8 a stick and I’m shooting about 50-50 on worth it.
It definitely keeps the sugar taste all the way through. Most non-cigar smokers would probably really enjoy it and then hate anything after. The sweet Factory Smoke is definitely in line with a novelty stick.

I’m still figuring out cigars but still My favorite stick for the price. Nice medium stick, it’s not eating a chocolate cake bomb or chewing on a saddle. Just enjoyable all around.

I guess I belong in the creed of the low end cigar man thread. If I’m spending more than $15ish a stick I’m getting antsy $18 I’m maybe still ok. I’ve yet to spend >$20. I could not imagine spending $50-100 on 1 stick. I’m just not there and I don’t have a refined enough pallet to support it. Same reason I drink $30 bottles of bourbon instead of $150. Everyone certainly has their own opinions. I just can’t taste 4 or 5 different things regardless of what it is - meat, bourbon, cigars, hell even my 2 year olds dirty diaper only has 1 smell.
I guess this explains why I don’t recognize most cigar bands/logos/names you guys post.
Very sorry if I’ve been watering down this thread with my random sampler grab bags of $6-10 sticks.

This has been super enjoyable and I’m about 2/3 through. Pepper pepper and pepper off the top. Middle 1/3 has been mellow and let my palate rest with some simple earth and woodsy flavors. First cigar I’ve had that’s gone backwards in intensity. This will definitely be an addition to my tupperdore. Easily in my top 5 for price and flavor. Think I paid $8ish for it.

Doubled up tonight.
My favorite Avo Syncro Ritmo
Followed by a an Undercrown Corona Pequena thought cause it was small it’d go quick but it’s a very slow burning stick despite it size.

Hey I recognize this! Got it in a sampler pack. It was unmemorable - cause I can’t remember anything about it and there’s still 2 in the tupperdor. But I did enjoy another Macanudo

#3849 1 year ago

Very fortunate to have a coworker give me his last 1 of these. A 2019 Davidoff year of the pig.
Long story short. I first grabbed a My Father Cigars La Antiguedad. Which I enjoyed. I think he respected that I didn’t go way out like many other coworkers did. So when he offered me again he had it narrowed down to a lot of ultra premium stuff I just don’t dabble in. Based on past experiences with his Davidoff white label I went for it. Frankly not realizing what I’d grabbed.
Just a great stick. Glad I got to enjoy something “limited” and aged nicely.

Enjoyed another 1 of these last night watching WWE extreme rules. Apparently was cigar of the year not to long ago. Great stick after a 2-3 week break.
I have to smoke outside and I absolutely hate cold weather (which is <65F IMO) so I’m about to go full hermit until March-April timeframe.
Coworker is getting Cohiba Cubans in 3 weeks. Signed up for a box.

Nice mild and rainy night.

Lost and found instant classic. Got it in last months sampler a few weeks back.
Pretty simple. Decent mild-medium bodied peppery so far.

Been using a punch lately seems to make the draw harder so I go slower overall

Picked up a punch sampler pack after really liking the fumanchu. A little bold/heavy for my liking out of gate. We’ll see how it goes from here.

Update - middle 1/3 turned into a big ol leather bomb so I gave up on it after 2/3

Bought myself a massive Christmas present and got 2 Davidoff Year of the Rabbits. Cashed in my rewards points and got them down to $43/ea shipped. My Chinese zodiac is the rabbit so I kinda felt like I had to.
I do a 50 mile 1 way drive every day and the only Chattanooga tobacconist is not far from me, a coworker on the other side of town, asked me to stop and buy him 2 from there and it was $116 for 2 after tax.
My plan is to have 1 on Christmas or New Years and save the 2nd for a big promotion or something.

Been a busy few days of my favorites

Started on Wednesday with an Avo Ritmo Syncro Torpedo Lago - posted earlier
Finishing up tonight with the Serino Wayfarer

In between over the weekend
Aging Room Quattro Maestro Nicaragua- the last of my cigar aficionado sampler of best cigars of the year. Overall very good https://www.cigarplace.biz/cigar-aficionado-1-cigars-of-the-year-sampler.html
Surrogates Animal Cracker - another favorite
Avo Syncro ritmo robusto - always great

If anyone is interested in doing some swaps, I’d love to try something that someone else really enjoys and has extra of - not something you got tossed in a sampler pack and want to dump.

I can offer up 2-3 sets of my 2 favorites - the only 2 cigars I’ve purchased a box of
Serino Wayfarer Corona
AVO Syncro Ritmo Torpedo Largo
These are around $10 online when buying a box and $13ish in stores per stick. We’ll each pay for our own shipping. I get enough small Bovedo packs in that I can toss 1 in. I’ll pack them up nice and tight.
looking for relatively even trades if we’re far off I can toss you $5-$10. Both of these have been resting for about 1 year so they’re milder than fresh. I only have 1 taste I can’t stand and it’s a full-blown leather heavy taste. I’m open to trying just about anything else. Typically fall into the medium to medium-full category
Pm me if interested

Just needed something predictable tonight. I’ve been experimenting with cuts and I can’t believe the difference between a punch and a guillotine on the same cigar. Punch is medium+ cut is mild-medium at most

IMG_4333 (resized).jpegIMG_4333 (resized).jpeg
#4957 8 months ago
Quoted from ryanbrooks:

I’m not trying to stir the pot, but I think you might have over cut that one.
I’ve noticed the same with different cuts. I sent some hex pressed Plasencia out to some of the others in this thread and recommended a double notch “crown” cut because I think it dramatically changes the cigar.
If I’m in the mood where I really need some kick, I’ll punch a Padron 64 natural Hermosa. It builds to where the second half will actually give me a buzz.

I think I’m right at the razors edge of the cap which I’m normally a 1/2 finger off so I was trying to go right at the line. BUT I got my middle finger stuck in the slide portion of the cutter and somehow thought I was chopping my finger off when it pinched and kinda freaked out. Not my best moment nor cut. The punch is more forgiving to stupidity
Just glad I’m not making up the massive taste difference

What’s in the sampler so far? I’m definitely interested in trying everyone’s “must try” cigars.

I would like to dream that if we could get 20 people interested in purchasing a 20 stick sampler it may be doable for a website somewhere to take us up and make a sampler run for us. otherwise - i "may" take orders, or we can just puff-puff-pass and share our best with others.

#5166 7 months ago
Quoted from zimzam:

New to cigars but enjoy them while golfing. Been reading up on the posts and is a bit overwhelming.
Anyone have a short list of recommendations to help me learn the different types and flavors of cigars??

I bought a couple of the “40 for $25” last year from some of the big cigar shops like jr cigars or small batch. I give them to friends when they come over or use them for nights when it’s really late but I want a cigar.
Pricing is all over the place. 1 shop wants $5 for x. Shop 2 wants $15 for x. Shop 1 sells y for $25 and shop 2 sells y for $8.
Buy some sampler packs. Cigar place has a cigar aficionado best of sampler pack
TAKE notes and read reviews to help guide you on what you’re tasting - I try to find 3 and see which one actually tastes like what I’m tasting.
Have fun. Post pics.
Don’t be afraid to throw 1 away.
Lots of great guys on pinside willing to help and share.

Sorry gents. I’ve backed off smoking these last few weeks as temps down south have been 88+ at night. Finally starting to cool off enough to get back out. I’ve also been limping around after breaking #4-5 toes and ripping the supporting ligaments in #4.
I got this 1 in a sampler pack this week and something about has been nagging at me. I think it’s the tall and skinny silhouette. Flor Del Valle sky flower IMG_4446 (resized).jpegIMG_4446 (resized).jpeg

Quoted from ryanbrooks:

What did you think?

I’m not great with tasting notes. But I’d call the first 2/3 “creamy leather” this coming from someone who hates a heavy leather taste. It was great.
The last 1/3 got into more chocolate/coffee/espresso notes that were pretty heavy for me.
It burned super even. Never took a touch up. I did kind of huff it for it’s size so I was just over 60 minutes burn time.
Burning someone else’s money is always enjoyable! Thank you again!
