Quoted from EJS:

How’s that one treating you? I haven’t had any Maduro MF’s before but tempted.

Love it. But I am also a Maduro fan. Bought a box after trying two.

#2062 3 years ago
Quoted from EJS:

Nice. I’ll pick one up on my next trip over. Only thing I don’t like in a cigar is a tight draw where my ears pop and I’m looking for a skewer in the kitchen

I've tried a cutter and a punch on these. Use a cutter. My normal go to is an Ashton cabinet 7 or 13. After a big steak the Ashton eclipse is phenomenal.

I think a few days ago we talked about maduro MF the other day I found one with the orange band. Much more mild than I anticipated. Very delicious as expected. Will have again.

Not yet. I plan to. He just got them in (I believe this is day 3 they are available in the market) so I want them to marinade in their humi for a bit first.

Keep us posted! Have yet to smoke a Cohiba I didn't like.

Quoted from PlanetExpress:

On the topic of accessories, has anybody tried the XiKar XO style cutters? The planetary gear setup look cool, but I’m skeptical of the new Chinese manufacturing under the new owner.

They aren’t that new. I’ve had this one for almost 2 years. Been pretty happy with it so far.

Never taking that guys advice again. Way to sweet on the draw. Was not expecting that at all from a non flavored cigar.

#4090 1 year ago
Quoted from EJS:

I believe that is a flavored cigar….technically speaking.
Some places have their own humi just for flavored cigars and I have seen those in there along with the Acid and Drew Estate Java line. Some Macanudo are too.

Either way, really caught me off guard. Reminds me more of pipe tobacco too.

#4092 1 year ago
Quoted from EJS:

Your friend (“someone”) probably just has different tastes than you do. Probably different tastes than most of us.

he knew I liked maduro wrappers, so his heart was at least in the right place making the recommendation.

#4094 1 year ago
Quoted from Yoderboy:

Having a diamond crown julius caesar now, highly recommend. This and the game room thread are about the only pinside threads I can tolerate anymore, too much bickering about stupid crap in the other threads. Thanks everyone for keeping this one upbeat.

We have all accepted we are burning money here.

Quoted from Invictus:

I love cigars like a fat kid loves cake. They're my guilty pleasure, my little slice of heaven. I light one up and suddenly all my problems disappear like smoke in the wind. But let's be real, the real reason I love cigars is because they make me look like a boss. I mean, have you ever seen a weak person smoking a cigar? Didn't think so. [quoted image]

I’ll never turn down a MF.

#4219 1 year ago
Quoted from OldHockeyGuy:

Root beer goes with about everything. My favorite is Virgil's. Lots of good spices compatible with most cigars.

I’ll have to try that! thanks for the idea. Tonight’s flavor. First time trying this one.

Hard to go wrong with any of the MF offerings. I really enjoy the judge. They bought Fonseca but kept them the same (I believe? Someone correct me if I’m wrong). I had one not long ago and forgot how good that smoke was back in the day.

Couldn’t agree more. MF has replaced my old go to Ashton #7 cabinets.

#4313 1 year ago
Quoted from EJS:

Thanks for the warning. Do you think I should grab more of them? They are available locally and not selling very fast.

The smaller ones, yes. The big ones just take forever. But if you got the time, it’s worth it. If they have the smaller 9 year, I’d go with those.

My last order from Thompson was after cutting open two Gurkhas to extract some sort of larva after seeing holes in the wrapper because the lady on the phone was trying to explain that they’d never send an order like that. It was a loose 5 pack too.
That must have been 2009 or so. Haven’t been back since.

Crux Epicure Maduro. Came highly recommended by a bartender at a lounge. It’s been infused to try to make that creamy smooth Maduro. I don’t know if they say it’s infused, but I’m telling you it is. Don’t buy this. Tastes like styrofoam dusted Ruth cayenne and Splenda.

Gotta say, I feel better about not liking the blackened cigars now. I put the first one out early. Letting the other two sit a year or so to see if they get better.

#4922 9 months ago
Quoted from EJS:

That’s so weird that you and the rest of the crew are having the same experience but I’m having the complete opposite. I took mine all the way down to here last time
[quoted image]

How long have you had yours?

#4924 9 months ago
Quoted from EJS:

Novemberish when they first started shipping. Had one the day they arrived…just as good then as now.
Generally speaking we all seem to have the same taste here too.

I think mine just need to age then. I’ve had that problem a few times where they weren’t stored at optimum conditions at the store. That’s why I always buy at least two, to try it again at a later date.
