Quoted from EJS:How’s that one treating you? I haven’t had any Maduro MF’s before but tempted.
Love it. But I am also a Maduro fan. Bought a box after trying two.
Quoted from EJS:Nice. I’ll pick one up on my next trip over. Only thing I don’t like in a cigar is a tight draw where my ears pop and I’m looking for a skewer in the kitchen
I've tried a cutter and a punch on these. Use a cutter. My normal go to is an Ashton cabinet 7 or 13. After a big steak the Ashton eclipse is phenomenal.
Quoted from EJS:I think a few days ago we talked about maduro MF the other day I found one with the orange band. Much more mild than I anticipated. Very delicious as expected. Will have again.

100%
Quoted from EJS:Not yet. I plan to. He just got them in (I believe this is day 3 they are available in the market) so I want them to marinade in their humi for a bit first.
Keep us posted! Have yet to smoke a Cohiba I didn't like.
Quoted from galore2112:It’s hot and humid in Dallas. Perfect for enjoying a cigar on the balcony right now!
[quoted image]
You ain’t kidding about it being humid here.
Quoted from PlanetExpress:On the topic of accessories, has anybody tried the XiKar XO style cutters? The planetary gear setup look cool, but I’m skeptical of the new Chinese manufacturing under the new owner.
They aren’t that new. I’ve had this one for almost 2 years. Been pretty happy with it so far.

My fathers are my fav. Good choice
7A344977-478E-45EF-A05C-F4E20D99FDDC (resized).jpegQuoted from EJS:Mr_Tantrum posted this in the funnies yesterday for those of you who don’t visit that thread:
[quoted image]
He’s not wrong. All “essential” means in “essential oils” is they smell.
Quoted from EJS:I was looking at those. I noticed they come in two flavors should I go for the Maduro too?
When in doubt, always go Maduro.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Excellent choice! I enjoy a few Maximus every week.
It was definitely good. I’ll be picking up some more for sure.
Never taking that guys advice again. Way to sweet on the draw. Was not expecting that at all from a non flavored cigar.
Quoted from EJS:I believe that is a flavored cigar….technically speaking.
Some places have their own humi just for flavored cigars and I have seen those in there along with the Acid and Drew Estate Java line. Some Macanudo are too.
Either way, really caught me off guard. Reminds me more of pipe tobacco too.
Quoted from EJS:Your friend (“someone”) probably just has different tastes than you do. Probably different tastes than most of us.
he knew I liked maduro wrappers, so his heart was at least in the right place making the recommendation.
Quoted from Yoderboy:Having a diamond crown julius caesar now, highly recommend. This and the game room thread are about the only pinside threads I can tolerate anymore, too much bickering about stupid crap in the other threads. Thanks everyone for keeping this one upbeat.
We have all accepted we are burning money here.
Quoted from EJS:It's aroma therapy via essential oils.
My wife’s friend sells those. I’m so using this line next time she talks about essential oils!
Quoted from EJS:Still continuing from last night. This thing smokes forever.
[quoted image]
Impressive. I picked up a couple of the asylum 10 years last week. Really enjoyed the 9’s, still have one left. The 10’s are insane. 7x70’s
Quoted from EJS:I’ll trade you those for one of these:
[quoted image]
That’s nuts.
That’s like 2 bigger. In numbers and stuff.
Quoted from Invictus:I love cigars like a fat kid loves cake. They're my guilty pleasure, my little slice of heaven. I light one up and suddenly all my problems disappear like smoke in the wind. But let's be real, the real reason I love cigars is because they make me look like a boss. I mean, have you ever seen a weak person smoking a cigar? Didn't think so. [quoted image]
I’ll never turn down a MF.
Quoted from OldHockeyGuy:Root beer goes with about everything. My favorite is Virgil's. Lots of good spices compatible with most cigars.
I’ll have to try that! thanks for the idea. Tonight’s flavor. First time trying this one.
EC3D8FC1-E784-4E2A-B351-1FAC72D35B53 (resized).jpegQuoted from ryanbrooks:Hard to go wrong with any of the MF offerings. I really enjoy the judge. They bought Fonseca but kept them the same (I believe? Someone correct me if I’m wrong). I had one not long ago and forgot how good that smoke was back in the day.
Couldn’t agree more. MF has replaced my old go to Ashton #7 cabinets.
Quoted from EJS:Last night. Something easy as I was starting to get the common cold. Feeling slightly better today but I’ll probably be a mouth breather through tomorrow.
[quoted image]
Still cedar season down here. Been a rough couple of days. I said fuck it. If my face is going to burn, eyes itch, and my nose run, it’s going to be worth it.
Quoted from EJS:I’ll call that bet.
[quoted image]
It’s going to be a while.
4703A06E-0BCB-47D7-8DF7-45B4125C018F (resized).jpegAnd that’s all she wrote. Hot draws at about 1-1/4” left. Make sure to set plenty of time aside. I still have another of these too.
Quoted from EJS:Thanks for the warning. Do you think I should grab more of them? They are available locally and not selling very fast.
The smaller ones, yes. The big ones just take forever. But if you got the time, it’s worth it. If they have the smaller 9 year, I’d go with those.
Quoted from EJS:My last order from Thompson was after cutting open two Gurkhas to extract some sort of larva after seeing holes in the wrapper because the lady on the phone was trying to explain that they’d never send an order like that. It was a loose 5 pack too.
That must have been 2009 or so. Haven’t been back since.
That’ll kill a collection fast.
Quoted from EJS:You should have said EHT & DPG
Yeah you know me. Whose down with OPP?
Quoted from pudealee:Right now, a “Pre-Covid” Cohiba Siglo I, and a bit of Bulleit Barrel strength. I hate to say it, but my love affair between Habanos Cohiba will soon come to an end after my last few remaining Siglos and Secretos are gone.
[quoted image]
Ironically, I have always preferred the Dominican over Cuban.
Quoted from EJS:Stupid question what’s your cigar cutter sitting on? Looks like a mini floor mat for a car.
That’s exactly what it is. Weathertec coaster
Quoted from EJS:An unexpected combination
[quoted image]
I’m letting the other blackened cigar I have sit in the humidor for a bit. Wasn’t impressed first go around.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Ashton VSG torpedo. Anyone else smoked one? I don’t know if I’ve smoked too many cigars today or if it’s the cigar, but this has minimal flavor and strength.
[quoted image]
The VSG’s never disappoint.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Crux Epicure Maduro. Came highly recommended by a bartender at a lounge. It’s been infused to try to make that creamy smooth Maduro. I don’t know if they say it’s infused, but I’m telling you it is. Don’t buy this. Tastes like styrofoam dusted Ruth cayenne and Splenda.
[quoted image]
I hated it also. I bought two and still don’t want to smoke the other.
Quoted from EJS:When the weather calls for it you must answer…
[quoted image]
Day late. But I’ll join you!
IMG_4032 (resized).jpegGotta say, I feel better about not liking the blackened cigars now. I put the first one out early. Letting the other two sit a year or so to see if they get better.
Quoted from EJS:That’s so weird that you and the rest of the crew are having the same experience but I’m having the complete opposite. I took mine all the way down to here last time
[quoted image]
How long have you had yours?
Quoted from EJS:Novemberish when they first started shipping. Had one the day they arrived…just as good then as now.
Generally speaking we all seem to have the same taste here too.
I think mine just need to age then. I’ve had that problem a few times where they weren’t stored at optimum conditions at the store. That’s why I always buy at least two, to try it again at a later date.
Quoted from PlanetExpress:1.5” x 10”… good lord, that’s a monster!
That’s what she said.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Doesn’t look like it’s coming apart at the head? How’s the draw? If it’s drawing good, I’d say you cut it right
Smooth draw. No issues. So far enjoying it.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Pipes look cool…have the taste profile of a hookers butthole…
Gonna defer to wisdom here and take your word for it.
Quoted from ryanbrooks:Could a statement such as that really be construed as wisdom?
Wisdom comes from bad choices, so yes. Yes indeed.
