I didn't know this thread was a thing...you could say I partake.

I recently tried a Gran Oferta, my first one from My Father, and it was exceptional. Need to branch out and try some of their other sticks before I commit to a box of theirs.

Just had a don pepin garcia black on the golf course today...thought it was ok at first but the last 2/3rds were phenomenal. Smoked it to a nub.

#2108 3 years ago

I have the Xicar v cutter as well and it's amazing. I only use v cuts on my sticks these days.

Don't think I've had a bad Davidoff. I keep a box of the Tampa Special Editions in the Humidor at all times.

#2225 2 years ago

Absolutely love an Opus

#2244 2 years ago

I have a humidifier running in mine, I have it set at 70 and 70. It's usually 75-77 degrees throughout the day when I walk past it, but the humidity stays put at 68-72.

#2269 2 years ago

Smokin and smokin the Sunday away.

Got a rib roast on the egg and a CAO Mortal Coil. Second time smoking this stick and it's absolutely phenomenal. Smoother and milder than you would think based on the wrapper, but tons of flavor.

Cheers fellas

OK guys and gals! Just got back from a PA vacation. Hung out for dinner, drinks and cigars at the always fantastic Best Cigar Pub! (Best Cigar Prices owns it)
Great food, excellent humidor. So I say to the manager.....pick 15 of your favorite cigars, price is no object. I came home with these...and a few others. (the Davidoff alone was $33! Some of them were actually my favorites as well!

That My Father Le Bijou is an excellent cigar, some other great ones in there as well!

I need to try another Gurkha, really wasn't a fan of the one I had a few years ago.

Quoted from tommyp:

Any tips for sticks that are rolled too tight? Have some monte cristo #2's from Havana that have horrible draw. I've had 3 boxes before..I think i just got an off box but i can't seem to get a good smoke.

First make sure you aren't over humidifying. Assuming you aren't roll the cigar around between your thumb and pointer finger going down the length of the cigar. Don't really know how to explain it, anyone who has smoked a blunt knows what I'm talking about though lol.

I haven't seen that Patel before, how was it?

#2499 2 years ago

That picture brings a distinctly different meaning to Acid than this thread is used to lol

#2523 2 years ago

Damn that Patel looks tasty, used to seeing Connecticut wrappers from them.

Quoted from PlanetExpress:

Posting about places to buy cigars reminded me to share an idea if you ever find yourself with too many cigars (or accessories):
https://cigarsforwarriors.org/
My BIL did multiple Airborne Afghan tours and told me the cigars they received were huge for them, just gave them a reason to sit and relax for an hour. Since then, I’ve been donating regularly. You can mail to them directly, or make a donation at many cigar shops.

Thanks for posting this

Quoted from EJS:

Alright I probably paid more than I should have but I hated knowing there was an unopened box with Opus X in them at a local shop. He did give me 15% off.

Quoted from USMCSGT0331:

Grabbed a few new cigars today, some really rare stuff! The one I'm most excited about it the unbanded stick on the far right, it's a Fuente that's pretty much unheard of. It's the Pussy Juice (yes, that's actually the name of one of their insanely rare cigars) blend in the Black Orchid vitola! Should be a pretty damn good smoke!
[quoted image]
Also scored this rare box of Liga Privada Year of the Ox. The Liga Year Of cigars are a foreign only release, so these cigars were made for the Chinese market. As far as I can tell, there's only a handful of these boxes in the US right now. If these are as good as the Davidoff Year of the Ox, this box will be gone quickly!

As a fuente stan, I'm very jealous of that haul.

It’s my first time smoking….(ribs)
According to the experts it turned out well!

Ribs are my second favorite thing to cook after brisket. Takes a little practice but super satisfying once you dial it in.

Looking to try some new brands, I always end up buying My Father, Fuente, and Davidoff because I know I love em. Anyone have a manufacture that makes medium bodied cigars that I absolutely have to try?

#2835 2 years ago
Quoted from PlanetExpress:

A few suggestions that I don’t think you could go wrong with:
La Palina- Goldie
Illusione- Rothchildes
Crowned Heads- Four Kicks
Padron- Family Reserve (any of the editions is great, but a bit $)
If you’re looking to CCs in a reasonable price range:
Trinidad- Reyes
Juan Lopez- No 2

Thanks man!

#2836 2 years ago

I just went to do some browsing and found what looks to be a crazy deal.

400ish bucks off of Cohiba boxes and add a leather carrying case for a buck: https://www.cigarsinternational.com/1-day-deal/

#2838 2 years ago
Quoted from PlanetExpress:

I’ve never tried that cigar, so I can’t speak to it. Just don’t get too caught up in their marketing, the domestic brand copies of Cuban brands tend to set MSRP sky high, then put them on “sale” for 80% off. Same marketing Gurkha uses (nobody is paying $50 a stick). To get a feel for actual value, take a look at CigarBid and see what people are bidding: https://www.cigarbid.com/shop/endingsoon/2069144/?f_BrandName.raw=Cohiba&s=Views_Desc

Gotcha, thanks for the info

What's up fellas been MIA for awhile, recently had a local shop owner recommend Plascenscia. I saw one posted on this page, but if you haven't smoked one I can't recommend enough. Incredibly good stick.

My office just got a membership at Grand Cathedral Cigars in Tampa, if anyone is ever over this way you should come check it out, great spot.

#4917 9 months ago
Quoted from OldHockeyGuy:

Now you tell us! I was there last Spring for the Frozen Four 2023 and wanted to get over there, but wound up spending a terrific time at King Corona in Tampa and Central Cigars in St. Pete. Great area for cigar smokers.

Central cigars/Ruby's is one of my favorite places in the world. Great cigar selection and really good live music.

Plasencia Alma Fuerte Natural Hex Pressed. Green band. 6x60. Crown cut it (double notch cut). Best $20 cigar in existence. I’ve got boxes. PM me and I’ll send you one.

Excellent cigar

Had our monthly cigar dinner for members last night and this was one of the sticks they were handing out. Looks like this guy and his son owned Camacho and sold to Davidoff in 2008. This is their new company, has anyone tried their stuff?

Smoked the Aladino by the pool yesterday, really smooth and enjoyable stick. It may be my go to coffee cigar now.

Where is everyone ordering from online these days? My local spots in Tampa/St. Pete don't always have some of the brands I want.

#5195 8 months ago
Quoted from USMCSGT0331:I haven't been on this forum in a while, so I thought I'd give a quick update. Here's my cigar purchases over the the past few weeks, there's some awesome stuff out there right now! Some of the boxes (like the Drac Redux) were released as far back as last year, and I missed out on them, but I was able to track these items down. I can't wait to smoke the two Opus X 25th cigars that are in the Impossible 13 sets, that's the 1 cigar I'm looking forward to the most in this haul! There's also 16 Opus X PJ's sitting there ready to smoke, which is ridiculous!
[quoted image][quoted image]
Had this last night, Opus X Dubai Exclusivo 2020 Viento d' Amor that was in one of my Arturo Fuente La Gran Fumada The Impossible Box of 13 sets:

How many stamps are on that space gat? lol

#5199 8 months ago
Quoted from ryanbrooks:

It’s not integrally, I just don’t know if an integrally suppressed MG needs two stamps?

That's a good question, I'm not sure about that.

Had the opportunity to smoke the most expensive cigar I've seen this weekend, Davidoff Royal Release. Packaging is awesome, and the labeling is classy, but the intrigue ends there. This was the most disappointing thing I've ever smoked in my life, almost zero flavor from start to finish, and I say that as a huge fan of Davidoff. I will say that the nicotine buzz from this stick was significant, and reminded me of a legit Cuban, but that's the only compliment I can give.

Quoted from ryanbrooks:

That’s upsetting. Did it burn and draw good? Any age on it?
If you like regular Davidoff and the Cuban taste of old, try the KBF Smoking Jacket. I need to find a box locally. If I do, I’ll send you one out because I want to get a few to PlanetExpress because I really think he’ll enjoy them. I tend to stay away from Davidoff other than the Nicaraguan Box Pressed, but the SJ is fantastic.
I really can’t say I’m surprised that a really rare and expensive cigar is underwhelming. So many of these special blends and limited releases are strictly marketing and FOMO for cash grab. I can think of several $75+ new world offerings and a dozen $150+ Habanos that I wouldn’t smoke if someone else was buying for me. The first Opus X I smoked was like that. Later, I learned the importance of aging certain brands/selections.
Anyone keep a cigar journal or notes about when you smoked a cigar and how long you’d aged it and when you smoked another of the same selection and how it’s changed for better or worse? I always say I’m going to start…

As far as I'm aware not more than a few months of aging. The burn was perfect as usual with a Davidoff. I'll have to try one of those KBFs!

#5445 6 months ago

Never smoked any by them, any recommendations? Gotta take advantage of 60% off lol

#5455 6 months ago
Quoted from PlanetExpress:

Awesome, knew you guys would know the whole lineup.
That enough to fill your cart attyrhodes?

I think that'll do!
