I’ve never had them before. Perhaps I’ll have to throw a few in a trade with you fine folks.

Not a great whiskey. I buy anything with a rum cask finish, but won’t be buying this one a second time.

Try the Breckinridge run cask finish. I really enjoyed it with a Padron Hermosa

Thanks for the suggestion, it isn’t in Ohio, but I’ll add it to my shopping list for next time I hit KY.

Making up for yesterday’s sub-par pairing…. El Rey del Mundo Tainos (RE Formosa) with Willett 4yr rye. If you’ve not tried the 4yr rye distilled and aged at Willett, it is 100% worth picking up. With all the MGP rye on the market (including some Willett), it’s such a nice change to have a superb product that has a profile different from MGP.

Tainos of course was epic…

I almost didn’t smoke tonight. Thursday I did yard work and got sinus reaction most of Thursday and all of Friday. Recovered enough.

Trying something new tonight. Sinuses are still recovering so I can’t make a fair call on this yet but I’m liking it so far.

Fascinating…first half was like a Fuente Hemingway-put your big boy pants on! Had about 2” of ash that dropped on its own and it’s an entirely different stick. Still full and robust, but somehow much less harsh and spicy. I really wasn’t expecting this kind of change. I like it.

From last night Dave and I picked up a WMS Big Deal and enjoyed these on the drive back. I’m slowly getting him into cigars. I had a wrapper mishap as you can see.

Here’s one you won’t see every day. I can think of one other person who might post some pics though. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. A very generous gift.

On the way home. I think this is an undercrown lonsdale anniversary something or other. Good flavor but tight draw and needed a bit of babysitting with the lighter.

Just tried one of those a few days ago. I was surprised....mine was really good!

Right now, a Vegueros Tapados, with over six years of age. A surprisingly good Habanos on the lower end of the cost spectrum. At 4.7x46, it’s the little brother of the newer Centrofinos.

Yup… RASS W/about a year of age, just right.

BTW: the Viking Heart is fantastic, too… Perfectly balanced sherry and smoke, with lots of fruit and floral notes and a pleasant creaminess. A bit pricey at $110, but at least it’s a fantastic whiskey, unlike a lot of “limited release” bourbon and scotch offerings.

Has anyone tried Jake Wyatt before? I picked up a toro sampler. I was going to try a couple singles but noticed they were mostly stocking lanceros which aren’t my thing usually.

I saw them at the local shop the other day when I was grabbing a box of my beloved Hermosas. Guys were talking them up, but I didn’t pull the trigger.

Hey we’re officially 1/3rd of our way to 10,000 posts here!

I can’t make a judgment call on the brand yet since I’ve only had something with a Candela wrapper which I normally don’t prefer.

The first 2/3rds were mild and steady. I liked the last 3rd the most for flavor had a mild finish.

To be honest I think I’d prefer a Green Hornet if I were to go for this flavor profile. But with the overall quality of the smoke I am looking forward to what the others have to offer.

I was going to have another from the sample pack but didn’t have time to stop at home on my way to friends house who was kind enough to spot me one of our favorites….

Liking this one more than the other from above not too surprised. It looks a little bent but that must have been how it was rolled. Wrapper in perfect condition no cracks etc

The No 2 and Especial are both favorites of mine. I find these two to be the easiest cigars for me to pick out flavors from.

Change of plans. Undercrown on hold for now. This evening it’s a nice Hammer & Sickle “Tradicion” Churchill. Very few times have I bought a line of cigars based on packaging alone. The H&S line was one of those times. Their “boxes” were fabulous - glass, fake marble, etc. I have several of their lines. Sadly, I don’t think they’re being made any longer as I believe the proprietor may have died. Anyway, I still have some socked away, and will enjoy this one right now…

Down to my last 3 or 4 sticks of these. They’ve been hit and miss for me so I don’t think I’ll be doing another box anytime soon. Might try a stick every now and then

Ahh, the mighty mighty Hermosa. If you’ve never had one, it’s worth every penny. They’re just not for the casual smoker.
