I prefer bourbon, or a not-so-peated scotch. Neat.

Wonderful cigar. If you enjoyed it, try “the hammer” sometime, similar flavor but dialed up to 11.
Quoted from jrpinball:Wuz gonna say, a Mai Tai doesn't seem to me to be a suitable beverage to complement a fine cigar. OK. Let's hear it. What's the preferred libation to accompany a good smoke?
The Mai Tai normally works well for me with light sticks like the Cohiba, but I swapped my normal Smith & Cross for Appleton Estate Jamaican and the lack of funk just made it bland.
Anything stronger than medium, I go with scotch or bourbon, or a Moxie or root beer.

That is my favorite stick of all time
My coworkers uncle got an extra ticket to a burbon and cigar event tonight. To me that’s a regular event on my back deck….But…I was going to give him an old dart board I have laying around and I told him he could have it for free. He’s like are you sure? So I said get me some of those cigars at your event and he just texted me this.
I can’t wait. They look awfully familiar to what I recently had. Should have these in hand Friday. He texted me this picture….

+ 1 for looking to other direction to make sure another train wasn't coming!

The owner of the land we were on says only once has be seen two trains at the same time. So it’s unlikely but not impossible. Standing there at that speed I assume it would be too loud to hear a horn coming from the other direction.
Usually I try to stand on the “correct” side of the tracks. When I go down there for a couple hours at a time I’m usually guaranteed 3 trains.

This is tough, none of them are smoking a cigar so it’s hard to tell…
But congratulations!

None seem to have fire shooting out of their eyes either...

Nice! I'm still on a 2019 box of Siglo I. I plan on working my way up to a 3 eventually.
......sheesh! been smoking my friend's Acid cigars for 9 hours.....and Clase Azul tequila, of course.....

I couldn’t get into acid I tried a couple flavors. I swear I felt like I was sampling car fresheners at the car wash
HdM Rio Seco…. I wanted to hate this cigar when it came out because it is clearly following the NC tends of fat ring gauge and shiny bands, but I tried one and now have more of these in my humidor than any other single cigar. Looking for a Cuban you can smoke without any aging? This is the one! Just give ‘em a month to acclimate to your humidor and dig in. I recommend using a punch on these, as a straight cut is just too open for this huge RG. Nice that these come in boxes of 10, too.

Traffic going into WI is a nightmare. Glad I’m here in the garage.

Have some monte cristo #2's from Havana that have horrible draw. I've had 3 boxes before..I think i just got an off box but i can't seem to get a good smoke.

First make sure you aren't over humidifying. Assuming you aren't roll the cigar around between your thumb and pointer finger going down the length of the cigar. Don't really know how to explain it, anyone who has smoked a blunt knows what I'm talking about though lol.

As above, bring your humidity down a little and you can get a skewer on Amazon that will open things up

Perfect Draw Tool…. So worth the $30, as you can perfectly dial in the draw you want. Seems like a scam, but it is awesome and way better than a piece of wire, etc….

I second this! Perfecdraw is a must have tool.

I have tried several and still not found one that is worth it on price or burns good

The PerfecDraw is the 3rd best cigar tool ever invented, right behind fire and a sharp blade! I've been using one for the past few years and it has saved a good number of rare smokes! Everyone in this forum thread should keep one next to their lighter and cutter:
Is this me, my cutter or the humidity? I’m right around 70% in the humidor. I run into this about 5-10% of the time. I’m using a stop cutter.
No making fun of the stick. It was the first cigar I ever had so I have one from time to time.

No judgement here. Baccarat was actually the first cigar I liked enough to buy a full box of early on. I can’t remember what my very first one was. I’ll always have these in rotation.

Assuming your humidity is accurate and you wet the tip before cutting, you likely need to clean your cutter, or your cutter is dull. If the cutter is clean and sharp, then it could be your technique; straight cut should be a quick snip with no twisting motion, cutting too slow can cause cracking.
If it’s none of those things, then it could be low humidity and your gauge is just inaccurate (you can test it in a ziplock with a Boveda). This is what I use, it’s often on sale for $30 and it always reads within 2% of the Boveda packs I use: https://www.thermoworks.com/Pocket-TH-RT819

Cutter image didn’t load for me at first… Your cutter is dirty, clean it with alcohol on a paper towel, getting both side of each blade and inside the housing.

The humidity is accurate. I work in a lab where we need to measure temperature and humidity on daily basis in the instrument lab. Everything is calibrated and NIST traceable for our accreditation. I take it into work every once in awhile and set it next to one that’s been calibrated to check it’s accuracy.
I’ve never wet the tip before. I’ll definitely try that next time. I don’t twist the cutter, but will give it a good cleaning.
It’s probably 8-10 years old so maybe it should be replaced?
Thanks for all the tips.

Nice hygometer setup! I’ve seen a lot of people relying on the metal dial style one that’s built into a humidor.
I’ve been happy with the Xikar Xi cutters, and you can pick them up cheaply on cigarbid. Find a listing that has a bunch of units and then bid the minimum, eventually you’ll get one at that price (I think my Xi3 was ~$25).

Cubans in general, especially MC #2 is a crap shoot these days due to popularity and pushing volume. With that said, the good ones IMO are worth the roll of the dice. Smoking a petite #2 right now that may be the easiest draw I’ve ever experienced. Delicious with some OF 1920 paired with it. Happy 4th!

YES!
Just got the PerfecDraw! I have plenty of toys, but never enough!!
