And then there is this Ashton ESG...first one for me and I will be picking up a few more of these. Being a big fan of Fuente cigars (it's a puro made by them) I had high hopes for this one and it is very nice. I read it's an Opus X blend with a sun grown wrapper, gives a very different flavor profile but equally as smooth. Why must I like these expensive ass cigars, lol.

Great cigar!!

I agree...just curious Ted, what is your favorite cigar, your stranded on a deserted island cigar?

#1608 1 year ago

Drew Estates Isla Del Sol. If you haven’t had one, go get one. Not expensive. About $5-$6/stick. Wonderful chill smoke. Will be having one tomorrow

Well damn if I have never heard of that one! The acid blue line got my cigar obsession started, and I really like the Liga #9 and T52. I hope I can find this one locally, maybe I can have one this weekend too...

#1610 1 year ago

Tonight’s pairing, saving this cigar for awhile it time to have it!

The Cuban Partagas Solomon is right up there.

Nothing like starting the day with steak and eggs, mimosa and a good cigar!

Well holy crap this is sweet as cocoa puffs! I forgot how nice these infused cigars can be, really enjoying this one. I went with the maduro, will have to try the sun grown also, mellow smoke.

Haven't had one in 20yrs. Friend brought me one this weekend. I was enjoying it until I dropped it and he ran it over with his golf cart.

Glad you enjoyed it! I think I’ll have one this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Pair it with some Commerce Gin and pinball. Good times

You ever just have a bad cigar moment? That was last night for me. Lit an Ashton Cabinet...tasted lousy, weird moldy taste. I killed it and lit an H Upmann...cigar was plugged badly, tried to open up with a poker and it just burned hot and still tight. Killed that one and went to bed disappointed. After working a 16 hour shift dammit I deserved better.

So today I need a knockout homerun cigar that will not fail me...Padron 1964 maduro to the rescue. These sticks are consistent and amazing, can't recommend enough if you have not tried one.

Yes, they are great....but not cheap!

Well Ted, the original sungrown is very nice, milder and slightly less sweet than than the maduro. Not sure which I enjoyed more so will be getting some more of both for the humi, I am sold on these. By name this beer seemed a nice pairing which it is.

Both versions of the Isla Del Sol are great in my book, and a good value for money. If you can snag them on one of the auction sites, they're even a better value.

The Islas, Tabak, Natural (or Luratan, depending on where you are), are very pleasant infused sticks, and don't smack you across the face like some of the ACID sticks do. Speaking of ACID, the ACID Opulence 3 is a very good infused stick that doesn't have a pre-light aroma of old women's perfume and hand cream.

I don’t indulge often, but when I do I like to go big. Several months ago I enjoyed my third-to-last Behike.

Awesome looking monster Behike!!

Just lit this Kuba Arte maduro...for an Acid the infused sweetness is quickly settling into the background and letting the tobacco's natural flavor dominate. Will be getting a few more.

Just placed an order online for the following 3 boxes:

Ashton Classic Magnum
Macanudo Inspirado Orange Churchill
Sancho Panza Caballero

Also:
Java Robusto 6-Cigar Sampler

My mouth is watering.

Next order think I'll need some Gurkha (spelled right?) it's been a couple years since I've had them.

Ted, one of these days you’ll have to teach me how to smoke a cigar properly. Last time I had one, I puked my guts out! 2 days later, we are at a con and you're going “come out tonight. Do you like cigars?”

I’m game, just needed a reset on the constitution! Lol

#1630 11 months ago

First of all, you don't inhale. If you do, you might get sick. We'll try again sometime!

Smoking this Arturo Fuente Opus X Destino El Siglo Oro Oscuro Robusto...whew out of breath now, lol. Local tobacconist put these out so I grabbed a pair. Great stick as I had no doubt it would be, a maduro Opus X what could go wrong? Well it keeps going out and I have had to relight and correct an irregular burn multiple times. However my humi is at 70%...I think 60-65% stays lit and smokes better, I should of dry boxed this one for a couple hours first so my bad. Super smooth and tasty treat and I will probably buy another while they are still available.
IMG_7375 (resized).JPG

#1634 11 months ago

How much are they charging?

#1635 11 months ago

This Robusto was $17.50. Also picked up a Reserva D’Chateau (7 x 48) which was $20. Never even heard of this release, just bought them immediately because I love Opus X.

#1636 11 months ago

Just went out again...damn never worked so hard to smoke a cigar, lol. The NUB Habano I spent $5.50 for smoked beautifully. $$$ doesn't guarantee performance. Still a great tasting cigar but it is pissing me off.

#1637 11 months ago

You could have a bad cigar. Usually if you take it back, they will replace it. For a $5 cigar, no big deal....but for $20, and an Opus X, it should be perfect.
Just got back from a Trinidad Event! Great cigars!
