I can think of lots of places in/near Pittsburgh to have it.
Monroeville Expo-Mart pops to mind immediately.
Butler Days Inn, for a smaller/cheaper venue.
If it got big enough, why not the Convention Center? I imagine that costs an arm and a leg, but hey, we can dream!
Actually, I know of another place.
I also know of a firehall that used to host LAN parties.
What do you mean? That makes it sound like it would be stepping on your toes even more.
The vagabond building is right nearby, and is probably in better shape than the aged butler days inn. I'm thinking you'll have electricity issues at butler days inn.
I think everyone just knows where it is, and has been there at one time or another for something.
I, for one, am not impressed with the building one bit, but they definitely have enough room, and there is McD's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and a grocery store next door.
There's also Conley's Resort...I've done lots of LAN parties there, and they have a pool and waterslide! Bring the wife and kids to swim, go play some pinball!
Their room requirements are kind of goofy though. They require you to buy a certain amount of food, and the room is free.
I've contacted PAPA, spoke with Elizabeth, about donating some time and services to help with this.
I was thinking more of making it a family experience.
Get a hotel room at Conley's....dad plays pinball, competes in tourneys, mom and kids go play in the pool.
OK, here's a suggestion, just came to mind...
Pittsburgh Mills mall!
There's lots of store fronts that are available, and I know they do other "shows" there. They just had a homeshow last month.
I bet rent is fairly cheap, the bathrooms are nice, lots of food, and things that the rest of the family can do if they aren't into pinball. There are no stairs, and lots of parking. There's even a hotel on the property. Its close enough to Pittsburgh, and has "Pittsburgh" in the name.
I can't think of anything negative about it, other than maybe what rent would cost.
Its 1 exit from the turnpike, and not too far from 79, 19, 8, 579, 279, 376, etc...
