Doing some pre-PAPA last-minute streaming on Demolition Man (that is, unless I stream tomorrow). Should be going for the next 90 minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/akmpinball

Yeah, 60fps would be ideal, although I'm not sure if Twitch actually supports streaming at that rate (it wasn't until recently that YouTube started allowing it). I'll have to look into it though.
As far as comparing between 30/60fps, there's no doubt 60 is going to be much smoother, especially in situations where the ball has to travel quickly. Those guys with better rigs than I should have no problems streaming at 60fps if Twitch allows it.

Yeah I am wanting to be able to show tournament play on a big screen live at our local Florida shows, so people can watch the action and more that just the players can enjoy the tournament. Streaming is a secondary concern. Since it would be closed circuit, 60fps would be easy to show and I am assuming would make the ball smoother when it is moving fast.

It would definitely look a lot better.

Getting a stream ready to go here in a few minutes.

QueenCityPinball - http://www.twitch.tv/queencitypinball/
- Just started the channel, still in testing phases. Big Hurt pinball!

Just watched last night. Good setup, and as stated, it's true...Big Hurt! I'd never seen one, and haven't played one, so looking forward to seeing it at TPF now.

#55 9 years ago

We've been tweaking our setup, we're now broadcasting in 720p which looks a lot nicer than some of the past 'casts. Here's last night's:

#56 9 years ago

Looks great! You using c920's for everything? Xsplit?

Correct to both questions.

http://www.twitch.tv/mcsirtuna. Is streaming some Metallica now. It's their first day so if any experienced streamers want to head over and check them out they are looking for some constructive advice

#59 9 years ago

And they seem to have a color dmd with wicked flashing lights

#60 9 years ago

Both of those statements are true. Constructive or destructive is welcome.

First word of advice is to enable archiving of your streams. I checked out the channel just now but do not see any "past broadcasts" so I can't comment on the quality.

I played Big Hurt at PAPA this weekend and was less than thrilled. Gov's machine looks beautiful and I think that has a lot to do with why his looks so appealing. The one at PAPA was slow and extremely dark (all incandescent bulbs). I'll be curious to know if your experience at TPF is similar.

On a side note, Gov's also has Williams flippers on it. If I ever get a Big Hurt myself (or get a Gottlieb machine from this era) I'll do the same.

#63 9 years ago

great list I actually went to dead flip it was a great time.
here is my time on there and they are always looking for others to stop in and play

We need more streamers out there broadcasting pinball!
Share all knowledge!

I'm beyond stoked that there are as many as there are. When I'm not streaming, I'm watching others play pinball online.

For the record, past broadcasts on twitch get deleted after a period of time, so I recommend everyone back-up all broadcasts to youtube!

Here is our setup:

Hardware:
3x Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 $90 each, $270 total.
3x usb extension cables $6 each, $18 total
Powered usb hub (A must) $20 total
Tripod (For DMD Cam)
Lighting stand (For Playfield Cam) $60 total

Microphone*
This is up to you. We play with a lot of different options.
Quiet room? Blue™ Snowball w/ tripod
Loud room? Lav mics or a gaming headset w/mic

Mac Book Pro (2014)

Software:
Cam Twist*
CoCoaSplit original*
Audio Hijack*
Moobot*

#65 9 years ago

EDIT: Farsight's broadcast has been bumped because issues on Twitch.

#66 9 years ago

Going to do a Tron session here in a few. Www.twitch.tv/McSirTuna. Gonna leave off the player cam in turn for a mic / headset this time. Solo play only this evening.

#67 9 years ago

Had a pretty decent little session with Tron and Metallica. I turned on the archive for this stream and need to go back and chop out the highlights. I also turned off the player cam to use a mic instead. Have a blue snowball mic on order, so hopefully the audio will improve next week.

Worth watching my last game of Tron and last game of Metallica if you only watch a small bit.

Streaming tonight on Doctor Who. Just got the game yesterday

John and Allan are stopping by.

http://www.twitch.tv/queencitypinball

#69 9 years ago

Had fun tonight, thanks to those that watched. Had some great games and John ended up edging me out 8 games to 7 while throwing a billion+ up a few times. Will try to get the highlights up for some of the games.

#70 9 years ago

That was cool to watch. Slam tilt took out the new loop champ being entered!

#71 9 years ago

Haha, ya and it was a grand champ score too...lol Definitely need to adjust that as it deserved a regular tilt but not a slam tilt....

#72 9 years ago

Had some fun early on as John brought me a set of unopened Judge Dredd playing cards he found at a flea market. I decided to open them on camera and made a little highlight video of that if anybody wants to see them. I didn't even know they existed.

Gonna fire up the stream again here tonight.

A bit OT: but I'm gonna start with some Ms. Pac-Man Turbo arcade machine play. Interested to actually video my play on this as I never have before.

Afterwards if there is anyone actually watching, I'll move to pinball for awhile too. My hand can usually only handle so much ms Pac before it gets worn in.

It'll go without saying, but my response time will be limited.

#74 9 years ago
Quoted from McSirTuna:

Sorry for the delayed response, I finally got a chance to check out the Metallica stream (via the archive on Twitch from earlier tonight). Everything looks good for the most part. Tightening up the presentation in Xsplit (or whatever broadcaster app you are using) aside, the only thing I'd do is see about taking out those two spot lamps in your ceiling (if it's possible). They are causing a ton of glare at the flipper area and it's kind of distracting.

#75 9 years ago

Doing some Classic arcade game streaming this evening - already started. Know it's not everyone's thing for a pinball forum, but figured I'd keep tossing up when I'm streaming. Have a friend over, so there is some banter at least, can't promise it will be great though

#77 9 years ago

Streaming for a bit if anybody wants to hang. Tuned up Doctor Who a bit more tonight. Pops are a lot better now

Have one of the icade 48-in-1 cocktail tables, we played mayor, bomb jack, pengo, mr do, and a few others.

Also just upgraded my internet speed, and ordered a powerline adapter to be able toget a better connection (kinda wired) to hopefully improve the stream lagging issues I've had.

Waiting in the new mic still.

I may also upgrade the laptop to another option as well. Gotta love return policies.

I need to catch your stream Queen City.

Looking forward to creating a functional stream first and then gonna work on viewers and a possible schedule after that.

#79 9 years ago

Does your 48 in 1 have Van Van Car? Love that one.

#80 9 years ago

That it does. That one was played too, but only a little. Here's a lot of gems on that board.

#81 9 years ago

just found this person streaming pinball arcade http://www.twitch.tv/voovoof

1 week later
#82 9 years ago

I just got a Goldeneye 007 pinball machine and I am going live with it now! http://www.twitch.tv/akmpinball. I haven't actually streamed pinball on Twitch in a while, so I'll probably end up going all night.

#83 9 years ago

Testing out my new rig / setup with Ms. Pacman Turbo - i know it's not pinball, but i needed to practice. http://www.twitch.tv/mcsirtuna

I'm "attempting" to get to the kill screen (if i did it, it would be my first time)
Stop by and give me some feedback if you'd like. I'd like to know if it's laggy or not.

#84 9 years ago

We're doing a special stream Saturday during Buffalo Pinball league night. Won't be our usual show format but it'll be a way to see some gameplay. You can vote for the game you want to see at http://strawpoll.me/4061782 - the game that gets the most votes will be the one we stream!

We'll go live with it around 6 p.m. this Saturday (4/11) at http://www.twitch.tv/buffalopinball

#85 9 years ago

Well had my first message of a unfollow because I was streaming pinball arcade. Was told to stream real (physical) pinball. Guess I will have to unfollow them also.

#86 9 years ago

Haha, can't please everybody I guess I have watched a few times and enjoyed it.

#87 9 years ago

What tables I can't afford I play on pinball arcade lol.

#88 9 years ago
Quoted from dementedwarlok:

As do I. If it weren't for TPA releasing STTNG on the iPad back when they did, I wouldn't be into pinball at all most likely.

#89 9 years ago

had to unfollow. Let me know when you plan on streaming more "real" (physical) pinball
Here is the message

#90 9 years ago

It's cool tho. When I do start physical pinball broadcasting they wont be in on the fun. I am gonna work on a rig this summer. Now that I updated ram and processor my computer can stream fairly well. I have been running classic doom lately going through all the levels.

#91 9 years ago

Not sure if this is the right thread.

1.
It seems PAPA circuit events are hit and miss when it comes to streams.
There is Michigan Pinball Expo this weekend. Any stream schedule?

2. Midwest Gaming Classic is this weekend as well, and thats supposed to be a big tournament, even though it is "competing" with a PAPA circuit. Any stream for that one?

#92 9 years ago

Rancho is the winner of the straw poll! It's ready for the spotlight: we'll go live with league night around 6 eastern tonight.

#94 9 years ago

Ya, watch us be incredibly average at pinball

#95 9 years ago

I plan on streaming some Goldeneye 007 tonight, probably starting sometime between 9 and 10pm EST. I slapped a LED OCD board in it so the LEDs should look a lot more pleasing on the stream. Likewise, I got my GIzmo board in today so the flicker of the GI should be mitigated as well. Will be interesting to see how it looks on stream.

Oh yeah: http://www.twitch.tv/akmpinball

#96 9 years ago

Well.. My birthday is coming up Monday so my friends got me drunk tonight and I am still away from home. Heh heh.

#97 9 years ago

pre-happy b-day to you!

#98 9 years ago

I just got my setup up and running.

http://twitch.tv/owlnonymous

#99 9 years ago

I am going to be streaming Goldeneye once again tonight, starting between 8PM and 9PM EST. It'll actually happen this time, unlike last week, ha.. http://www.twitch.tv/akmpinball
