cooltext291998325723669 (resized).pngdelorean-38103_960_720 (resized).pngThe 2018 Space City Open will be streaming Saturday October 20. Women’s finals at 4:30pm Central, and A-Finals at 6:30PM Central. https://www.twitch.tv/spacecitypinball
I’ve made a ton of recent improvements to the stream to make everything super polished. Our new mobile rig will allow all 20 games to be shown in 1080p, 60fps. We have new cut animations for a professional feel. We’ll also be debuting slow motion instant replay so viewers can get a second view of all the sweet saves and tragic drains. Hope you’ll tune in!
Has anyone else had issues with vertical lines appearing on lit inserts or flashers? I feel like this only happens when I use an external light source to light the playfield better. I'm using a CX 405 for my playfield camera.
Quoted from akm:Not really sure what you mean. Can you post a video so we can see it in action?
I literally just got it fixed today while streaming with help from chat!!
Is anyone tapping video directly off the screens on a JJP machine? If so, what parts are you using to do this?
I’m thinking it might be cleaner to have a direct feed than a camera pointed at the backglass.

There’s no plug and play option. That’s all I got.
I use a powered DVI splitter and a DVI to HDMI cable into my capture card. JJP games use standard connectors so it makes life easier at least.
I know that for some might be overkill but I finally upgrade my stream to full 1080p 60fps and boy if it looks pretty... although my gameplay still "meh", lol!

I use this

Then HDMI into HD60s. On WOZ I find I need to boot the game with the HDMI unplugged then plug it after bootup for the display to work. A little awkward, but it works.
I thought I’d speak a bit about the setup I use for http://twitch.tv/nspinball - I’ve gone through a few iterations and landed at a setup I am pretty happy with.
I started out with Jack Danger’s guide at http://www.deadflip.com/howtostreampinball with the “medium budget” setup.
After some modifications here is my modified version of that list:
* Two mic stands
* Two clamps
* Blue Snowball Mic
* One camera mic stand adapter
* One Logitech C920 (Facecam)
* One Logitech C922 (Playfield cam)
* One LED light
* One Avermedia Live Gamer Portable 2 for capturing HDMI from the backbox
The Blue Snowball goes on one mic stand.
The other uses the camera mic stand adapter to mount the LED light.
The cameras are clamped to the top of the backbox.
The Avermedia capture device fits nicely in the corner of my JJPOTC backbox, intercepting the HDMI to the backbox monitor. The USB cable peeks out easily behind the backglass. It really gives a beautiful feed from the LCD display.
I run the Blue Snowball in mode 3, screwed to the top of the mic stand. It sits to the left of the cabinet with the business end pointed at me, at around 4 ft high. This does a great job of capturing my speech as well as the game audio.
I pipe all of this into a Mac (late 2013 MacBook Pro) using Open Broadcast Studio.
The playfield cam is 720p@60fps and the face cam is 720p@30fps.
I’ve gone through several setups with mic stands hanging cameras over the playfield, in my face etc and this setup is by far my favorite.
Nothing is in my way, and the angles for everything are great. The one drawback is the playfield cam shakes with the shaker motor, but I think that adds to the sense of being there and is not a concern for me at this time.
Which clamps did you use for this? I always thought attaching to the machine was frowned upon but after watching your videos I don't actually mind it and I've been looking for something to quickly move between machines on location and top clamps would be super nice.
Quoted from ahanson:Which clamps did you use for this? I always thought attaching to the machine was frowned upon but after watching your videos I don't actually mind it and I've been looking for something to quickly move between machines on location and top clamps would be super nice.

Frowned upon or no, it’s better for me as a player not having stuff hanging over the playfield.
I should probably clarify "frowned up" was more for the thought that it would shake too much with nudging and stuff, but even with the shaker I didn't think the videos were distracting or anything. Nice work.
I may experiment with piping the game audio through the Avermedia also. I’m a little concerned about audio lag / doubled audio picked up from my mic but we’ll see how it goes.

Inspired by zaphX, I've been playing around with overhead rigs clamped to the backbox. I'm pretty close to one that's not too bad I think after a few prototypes. I just need to make a bracket for my RPi's and their batteries and this thing should be easily movable from machine to machine. I might need a slightly longer rail for the backglass camera and in theory you could just do a one camera thing with the 4K Pro and catch most of the backglass along with the playfield but I like the backglass camera. Could add a player camera too if desired I think near the backbox. Some pros are the shake is minimal after some big nudges/tilts and there's no need to reset the camera if you slide save since it just moves along with the machine.
v3.0 (resized).jpgv3.1 (resized).jpgSo I watched Jack's video on camera FPS, and I set all 3 of my cams to 30 FPS. My video still looks choppy...Im using Microsoft Lifecams...that may be my problem...but free is a bitch.

That’s a cool setup!
I actually migrated away from clamping due to shaker motor camera shake. I now run this setup on wheels with pinstadium xstream lights.

You want 60FPS for the playfield cam.
Quoted from zaphX:You want 60FPS for the playfield cam.
Dang...guess I need a new pf cam.
I need some input on my stream. I set this up in a rush last night because I had to swap in a very heavy 4K DSLR camcorder for the overhead so I could get 60fps.
My thoughts are:
Playfield looks good, maybe a little more exposure to lighten it up.
Lower camera needs auto focus turned off. Not sure I love the angle. I may put it up higher shooting down more.
I may move the backbox camera closer too.
Sound was tops I think.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Playfield looks good, maybe a little more exposure to lighten it up.
Leave the exposure where it is and flood the game with light from led lights on a stand.

Having a good shot of the lower playfield on this game would be key. I’d try to put a web cam down there.
Also even if your cameras are set to 60 FPS, your stream may not be outputting that. Make sure it is.
Good luck!

Ugh....more stuff, lol. I dont have space for all this. Ill see what I can do....
I looked at where I could go with the camera and its not going to be worth it to put it down there. The angle of view would be total shit. Plus I cant get the glass out unless I move 3 games so F that, ha!
With the camera at 60fps, the playfield looks 100x better than it did with the 30fps, but I will look and see. Pretty sure Im at 1080p at 60

Well your broadcast is outputting 720. Not sure on the FPS. Might only be 30 FPS.
Is anyone currently, or planning to stream in HDR? I think pinball streaming would be the ideal use for this. With the extreme contrast between the dark areas and the light areas.
Just started quaranstreaming weekly on Tuesdays at 8pm ET. Last week reached the Final Battle on The Shadow on 2nd game of the stream which was a nice surprise. This week I'm streaming TNA. Hope to see some of you there.

twitch2 (resized).jpgHey guys, I just started streaming and I'm loving it. Feel free to give me a watch/follow at "JustAnotherPinball" on Twitch. Here is a highlight of me beating the wizard mode on NBA Fastbreak last night. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on things I can improve. Thanks for the support!
I feel like I should start streaming so people can watch me suck at it and feel better about themselves with all this "wizard mode on that game" "final mode on this game".
I've been going about 1 month now and I'm loving it! https://www.twitch.tv/pinball_mayhem_jeremy
I stream on Twitch - Sunday mornings 9am central. YouTube Saturday mornings 9am central.

Here's a highlight from my last stream - a 20 min game on The Champion Pub. A great end to a marathon stream (almost 3 hours).

What equipment is needed to stream wirelessly? Do you need a wireless hdmi transmitter for each camera? Would you then need a capture card for each camera? Is there a way to get a webcam to stream wirelessly? Looking to get a stream setup at a local arcade.

That is for a wired connection to a computer. I am looking for equipment needed for a wireless setup.
Quoted from MisterM:That is for a wired connection to a computer. I am looking for equipment needed for a wireless setup.
Oh right. There's a device called a Nyrius that will transmit HDMI wirelessly.

Yes you need a transmitter and capture device for each camera.
In order to do more than two at once, you have to mix up brands.
I use a monoprice hdmi transmitter for two cameras and a nyrius hdmi transmitter for the third.
For the nyrius you have to add a hdmi splitter at the end by the capture device or it won’t work properly. Don’t ask me why, it just needs it. Haha.

You can also use a Raspberry Pi if you're a little bit adventurous. You can checkout my other thread on the side project I've been working on for my streams. The latest info is on the last page. And you can see my parts list on singleballplay.com. I've recently moved up to using a Pi4 now but the 3b+ is still fine, runs cooler and uses less battery.

Hi all! Looks like this is the most active streaming thread? I found a few older threads on streaming rigs but none with recent activity - guess I will post about my rig here?
I made one out of plywood I had on hand already and it turned out great. I'm sure the aluminum ones are stronger, more durable, less shaky, and is definitely the way to go for tournaments etc but for "Home Use Only" I think my plywood one works pretty well! In case anyone wants to build one, a full write up and instructions are on my blog at https://abpinball.com/2020/07/20/fabricated-pinball-streaming-rig/
