A lot of laws related to vehicles (e.g., How many license plates must be displayed (one or two); window tint restrictions, oversized tires, etc.) only apply to vehicles registered in that particular state.
If you're just "passing through" and "helping out" a friend by delivering his/her pins, it's less of an issue.
But, yes, fire extinguisher, triangles, etc. are always a good idea.
