Last night while playing my Data East Monday Night football, I noticed an issue with the center launch ramp. When a touchdown is scored, the little ramp rises up from the playfield to the full height, but then sneaks back down 3-4 millimeters. This causes the ball not to get the full proper angle to shoot through the goal posts, but rather to hit the top of the goal post and fall down most of the time.

Before getting under the hood and removing the assembly I was looking for any experienced suggestions. I’m hoping it’s just a tiny little adjustment, as I know this is a rare game and parts are replacement parts are very hard to come by.

Any advice on a fix? Thanks!

It could me mechanical or a switch adjustment. The good thing is the motor is running. Check the limit switch that is at the max raised position. If its adjusted correctly. Look for any slop / play in the associated gear train or linkage. If it makes the maximum height and drifts back it sounds mechanical. When the switch closes the mech should stay in that position until it reverses and contacts the other switch.

It ended up not being the motor at all. There's a little post that pushes the goal post up and on the tip is something that looks like a pencil eraser. It was just worn down a bit and slipping, so I put a new rubber end on it and all is good.
