Are there any distributors out there that would, for a fee, inspect a nib game, play test it and make sure everything is working and adjusted before repackaging and shipping out to a customer?

Check with Chris at King Pin Games. https://www.kingpingames.net/ He works hard to make customers happy.

Bear in mind, crap can still happen in shipping, bouncing around in the back of a semi trailer.

We offer this service and do it all the time! We work out any bugs, dial it in, set to free play, and install optional accessories like mirror blades, shakers, Speaker upgrades, etc.

We are a full service dealer for most brands

That’s a solid question! When we personally delivery games we go through everything before delivery. Would hate to run into an issue and order warranty parts in the customers home. The best is to make sure it’s 100% before delivery IMO

Chris Kuntz at Pinball Pirate does this too, plus he is quite possibly the most knowledgeable pinball tech under the sun. He does both JJP and Stern, gives a one year warranty as well if I remember correctly, solid, solid guy.

Good example of a small issue that is resolved before the customer gets the game!
I wondered if anyone would catch that

What distributors do this service for no charge as part of the sale? -Just curious and if they do charge for the service, how much is it?

Honestly 99.5% of the problems that may arise can be handled by calling 1-800-Kickers and speaking with tech support. I think if I was going to pay someone to open my game I would probably just pay extra and have Steve with Pinball Refinery pimp it out and dial it in. Otherwise I would save the money and deal with Stern directly.

That used to be the whole point of distributors, back in the day. By the time a game made it to the operator who was buying it, it would be all assembled, set up, tested, any problems fixed, etc. Just plug it in, level it, and start making money. The only game I ever got still in the box was the $700 closeout Time Warp I bought to turn into CBAFGPD.

My SW premium was dropped shipped from Stern. Since it bypassed the distributor, I did not have a chance to get offered the service. Something to inquire about...is it dropped shipped or is the game in the distributor's stock?

That was the exception to the rule. You picked it up at the distributors dock as is in it's box, or maybe unboxed.

Unless you buy a floor model.

I go to my local distributor and test play all the game he has set up before they ship.

Just so you guys can have some kind of high score to shoot for.

    No extra charge.

Either I had better distributors than you (Brady Dist Co in NC, and Eastern Distributing in MD) or my "back in the day" is farther back than yours! They sent tractor trailers out, full of assembled games, and dropped them off.
