Quoted from teekee:I was hoping he would have slipped just a second sooner ended up on his face and the ball ends up in the stands... that smile would have changed real quick! Hey, just being honest!
Ah - but he didn't! Thank God too as I think I aged 10 years over the course of the Series and if the Cubs had blown that game, it might have done me in.
Hats off to the Indians and their fans though - and I'm not saying this just because the Cubs won. I was really impressed by the team's talent and determination and the Cleveland fans' passion. I can identify with the pain and disappointment that they're feeling not only because of my experience with multiple past Cubs losses, but also due to more recent heartbreaks such as the Seahawks' goal line disaster in the closing seconds of the 2015 Super Bowl.
As a former long-time Chicagoan, the many similarities between the fans from both of these Midwestern cities are readily apparent to me. It feels so great for the Cubs to FINALLY have won it all and if not the Cubs (or the Mariners who have yet to even go to a World Series), I truly hope that the Indians get to do the same soon!
