Wow what a game! No pinball for me tonight while suffering through 8 innings....only for the sweetest payoff in the 9th. No offense to any Giants fans out there, you've had plenty of fun the last 6 years or whatever. Anyone who wants can joke about Cubs futility can whatever they want. But this team is great. Nothing is guaranteed though & it's just fun to enjoy the ride!
So glad the Cubbies beat the Giants. If the Dodgers can pull off the win thursday at Washington, I'm going to take time from Expo and get some tickets for game 1 saturday. Win for Vin.
I ain't afraid of no "Goats."
It's the perfect Stern "Super Limited Edition Game" re-theme of Ghostbusters!
The only thing is that you have to PROVE you are a long running Cubs fan in the application process through a live quiz section at EXPO to get one.

Tickets have to be costing a mint on the secondary market, but I'd just about kill to see a playoff game at Wrigley Field! I really miss going to games there.
As long as Daniel Murphy is alive, he will continue to haunt the Cubs. Dude single handedly smoked them last year with the Mets, and could possibly do it again this year with the Nationals. Cubs should have swept the 87 win Giants, but needed four games and a miraculous 9th inning comeback to beat them.
And don't sleep on the Indians. They are getting it done with an injury plagued pitching staff.
Life long Giants fan! I have to give it up to the cubies, they have a special team. Heartbreaking yes but also think the cubs have there best shot ever. Heres to all you cubs fans.

I attribute it to more of the Mets' pitching staff shutting us down.
I wouldn't sleep on Toronto myself either...

Giants played us tough for sure. You guys have an awesome 1-2 punch for starters (not really sold on Smarjia (?) for three). Admittedly, going into last night's game, I thought we were gonna put up a ton of runs on Matt Moore. We made him look like a Cy Young candidate out there last night. I definitely underestimated him last night.
Kudos to you guys for a well-played series...
I'm typically a pretty big Braves fan and watched a great deal of games up until this year. They suck ass.
Quoted from Pahuffman:I'm typically a pretty big Braves fan and watched a great deal of games up until this year. They suck ass.
I'm a White Sox fan, and as terrible as they were this year, I either watched on TV, watched live, listened, or followed on my phone every game this year.
Being a true fan is all about sticking with your team through the good times AND the bad. Chicago fans are terrible at this. Case in point: the Chicago Bulls. In the 90s, you couldn't get anywhere near the United Center unless you had tickets. All the celebs were there (Oprah, *barf*). Now? Nothing. Still a good time and they sell a lot of seats, but the fanbase is non-existent. Once they start winning again (*cough* Blackhawks anyone?), the "fans" will come back in droves.
people are allowed to be fans and not watch every game...
this true fan crap is silly. Sports are more fun when your team wins. People tend to talk more about winning teams.
Heck, I live in WI and have not heard a peep from most Brewcrew fans since Julyish. Does that make them non-fans? nope, just means they were eliminated and so not much to talk about.
1908!!
I love baseball and the playoffs have been great so far. If the Cubs don't win, it will be just swell.
Would love to see a Cubs vs Indians battle. Been a long time coming for both. Some great teams left and a lot of ball to watch still.
I got sick to my stomach after the Cubs gave up another two runs in the 5th, so I went down into my basement to work on my Pinbot. I completely lost track of time, and when I put the game back on, it was the bottom of the 9th. I completely missed the rally.
What a game, though! Those Giants sure are a tough team to close out a series on.
Quoted from mkecasey:Anybody but the Cubs. Anybody!!
(In all seriousness, may the best team win)
well we know it wont be the Brewers buddy

Yeah it made sense when sports was a regional thing, tickets were cheap, and players stayed with one team for most of their career. Now it makes no sense to spend the money they charge for tickets. I'll go to one maybe two professional or collegiate games a year but I'm not going to every game. That's for rich people. It's difficult just to watch every game because every sport and even some individual teams have their own network. It's absurd.
I was sad to see the Red Sox lose but it is a special consolation to see Epstein winning in Chicago and Francona in Cleveland. I'm probably going to end up rooting for Cleveland but I won't be sad to see the Cubs win.

That's the truth! But I'm saying for this year, I'm pulling for the winner of the LA/DC series or whoever makes it to the series on the AL side.

No offense but you couldn't be more wrong.
Case in point - The Bulls have sold out almost every game since the 1990's and have led the league in attendance for almost every year since. Extremely loyal fanbase (to a fault)
Case in point 2 - The Cubs. There may not be a larger following for any baseball team around the country - period.
You are correct though - the White Sox are a POS organization with little fan support. Sorry that you have to deal with being a Sox fan - its going to suck for a while.

That is one thing I have never gotten about WI fans in general.
For example, the Bears stink so I will happily root for the Vikings when they make it to the Suepr Bowl.
In a year were the cubs are not in it, then I am rooting for cards or brewer. Everywhere else I have lived people seem to stay in division. In WI, the majority of 'sports' people seem to care more about rooting against other teams.
Different state of logic than I use.
My thoughts are always that if my team does nto make it then atleast their suckage could be attributed to playing in the same division as the champs. Plus, I like to see people around me happy. (I will of course razz them a bit, but that is part of the fun)
Seeing how the Red Sox let me down so hard this year, I am rooting for the Cubs all the way.
They are long over due for a World Series win.
Quoted from gweempose:I got sick to my stomach after the Cubs gave up another two runs in the 5th, so I went down into my basement to work on my Pinbot. I completely lost track of time, and when I put the game back on, it was the bottom of the 9th. I completely missed the rally.

Gotta admit that I took a respite from last night's game's frustrations after the 5th inning too and played a couple games of TWD (because God knows - that's not frustrating! ). Thankfully, I returned in plenty of time to see the Cubs' comeback and Chapman then strike out the side in the 9th!
Quoted from Boiler415:Sorry Cubs fans, 2016 is the year of Cleveland! Go Tribe!
Perhaps (we'll see), but Lebron James is apparently a Cubs fan.

I get what you are saying about the suckage being attributed to playing in the same division as the champs. But for me it isn't always a root against the division mentality. If the Pirates or the Reds made the playoffs and the Brewers did not, I would (and have) cheered for them. For me, the Cubs are just big rivals and a team I would always like to be ahead of. As for not cheering for St. Louis, it has more to do with wanting to see somebody else win it. They have had too many years of success and I enjoy watching new teams. That's why I loved seeing Kansas City Royals go all the way in 2015.
Quoted from mkecasey:For me, the Cubs are just big rivals and a team I would always like to be ahead of.
I dont think of the Brewers as rivals at all We shuold catch a game at Wrigley North when you are back sometime next season.

I'm down! In fact, Paul R from the Milwaukee crew has been trying to plan a baseball/pinball outing for awhile. With the loose plans being to go to a game and then hit up a bar or two after for pinball.
Quoted from PW79:Cubs suck
The Cubs haters line forms behind dirtbag66.
BTW dirtbag - from last year's MLB thread:
Quoted from dirtbag66:Three reasons the Cubs won't win anywhere near 97 games next season:
1. Arrieta won't have another performance like that
2. Opposing pitchers will adjust to their young hitters
3. INJURIES!!!
Seriously, the Cubs were one of the (if not the most) healthiest teams going into the post season. At some point, someone has to get hurt.
Go Jays!!
Epic year as a sportsfan for me so far, Penguins won the cup and the jays are 8 wins away!
The Cubs won't be the Cubs anymore if they win the World Series. Lovable losers! I hope they win and we could the world could stop talking it.
Quoted from Electrocute:The Cubs won't be the Cubs anymore if they win the World Series. Lovable losers! I hope they win and we could the world could stop talking it.
The good thing for you then is the team is real young sans a few pitchers. So you might be able to see multiple championships to come
Quoted from dmbjunky:I think it would be funny if Cleveland wins. So many years of "woe is us, oh woe is us" and then they get a NBA championship and MLB championship in the same year. Sorry there's no chance for a NFL championship.
The Browns championship is the #1 draft pick. They are right on track, haha.

I was really hoping the Cards would have made the playoffs and beat the Cubs. It would have been the ultimate salt in the wound.
