Quoted from yancy:
I said that show organizers are getting nervous. Yes, it was a glib comment. Welcome to the internet. But it also seems like there's a kernel of truth. It's okay! I'd be nervous too if I was you. It was an observation. I added "no offense, Dan" since my comment came directly after yours, specifically so you WOULDN'T take it as some kind of personal affront. But here we are.
If that's what you intended, you're not very good at trying to do that, because you obviously don't know how measured I can be about things like this.
Which you know nothing about, but dismiss. Cool. And if people trust you, it makes it harder for everyone running shows right now.
I came in here to reply to some over the top comments that were made on the show, and ask people to not jump to conclusions. You reply by dismissing the comments as me getting nervous.
Which isn't the case. It's me trying to stay on top of the message before everyone on Pinside is suddenly in a manufactured tizzy without having the facts. I asked that people wait. I still do.
Replying to that by "resting your case" just further serves to sow doubt in my words by others.
I'm not "nervous" or whatever about this. I'm annoyed that it seems you are missing this and find it funny to keep trying to further sow doubt.
If we're talking about what the next pinball machine is, that's great, sow all the doubt you want. If we're talking about shows that have budgets in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and you're trying to dismiss people with actual knowledge, yeah, I find that frustrating.
I don't know how any other show is set up to handle this. I do know quite well how we're set up to handle this. With so many people looking to me for leadership right now, if we were truly nervous or unsure of what we are doing, it could be disastrous. You suggesting otherwise has implications to me from other people who then trust me less.
If your goal is to tear down shows, that's cool. I just think it's a weird response. It's not really a joking thing.
The Midwest Gaming Classic will have some sort of officially statement about all of this within the next 72 hours. Unless things change unexpectedly, it will not change from what I've been saying here, but we'll have some additional information I'm still working on.
