Many of these games have apps you can download and play for free against the machine in order to see if you like it. Catan Universe and Ticket To Ride apps are both very good. I play against humans on my ipad ...very satisfying, and usually a much quicker game.

Ok we played a simple game called Blank Slate the other night. Althought not technically a board game, I wanted to mention it here. 3-8 players, simple rules and very fun! The basic idea is to match your answer with one othe r person. the format is a clue in the form of "<word> - Blank" and you write on your slate what word you would put in the blank. crazy how many different responses we would get. sometimes no match at all. fast moving and people can play from wherever they are sitting in the room.
