Just found this thread.

I build crokinole boards in my spare time. It’s like table top shuffleboard and a good way for you and your friends to hate each other worse than a game of uno.

Quoted from CaptainNeo:

those are fantastic. Someone from my Gencon group was trying to find a good version of this game, but production ones always had flaws in them that effected gameplay. How much to have you make one?

Depends on the board. The one with walnut inlay is $300, it’s a lot of work and, well, it is walnut.

I do others with printed overlays that I then clear coat. These are typically $250. I do t charge for doing the artwork, but to get them printed is $50.

Here are some overlay examples.

The killer is shipping. I shipped one to California and it was $70. They are big and heavy, so most of my work goes to locals. The playing surface is 3/4” thick and so is the outer ring, I want them to last forever, my ticket to immortality. They come with a cleat to hang them on the wall.

Someday I'm going to build a nice board for myself. It's on my too do list.

It’s not too bad if you have moderate woodworking skills. Having the right tools helps also.

The Hilinski brothers have some nice guides on building them, there is also a thread on BGG where those of us that build them have contributed tips.

Quoted from Jediturtle:

Quacks is great. I need to play it more. Then again I could say that about everything in the game closet! Too many games, not enough time.
I ordered a Crokinole board from the last Mayday Kickstarter run. Super fun game, but wow does the board kind of suck. The playing surface isn't very smooth, and no amount of waxing will fix it as they claim. Mine has a series of ugly scratches across the playing surface, but because they are only aesthetic and do not really affect gameplay, they will not exchange it (though they did offer a small refund). Lots of others on the kickstarter message board are unimpressed with the quality. I wish I would have dug deeper into reviews of Mayday's quality before ordering, but I was super excited about checking out the game, and their marketing was good enough for me to fall for. The price point was attractive too, compared to the better boards, but now I know why.
All that said, it is very fun, and it is something my family and I will play a ton. After only a couple days with the Mayday board, I did what I should have done initially and ordered a Tracey board. It should arrive next week. Can't wait. I do have to admit...the Mayday was good as a starter to see if we'd like the game. I do not think I could have ever convinced myself to pay for a good board without playing this one first. For the price, it got us to try it, and we have put a bunch of plays on it already, so that's not a loss. Hopefully I can resell the board to someone else just wanting to check it out or who will not care as much about how well it plays. If anyone local enough to pick it up is interested in checking it out, let me know. Will make you a great deal.
I also have to put a plug in for Rear Window. Great deduction game, especially if you are a fan of the film. It plays out along the lines of Mysterium but is definitely its own thing. Definitely worth checking out. [quoted image][quoted image]

So after the fiasco of mayday’s first Crokinole run years ago, a friend asked I could build one. That turned into me taking custom orders. I don’t turn out as many as Muzzies or Tracey but I do custom artwork boards. It’s a fun side hustle.

Quoted from jester523:

How does crokinole play with smaller kids? I have a 5 year old, who likes playing games but tends to make her own rules for them.

Rules a pretty simple. May run into some math issues with a 5 year old though.
