A friend of mine has an Atari Superman that is one of her favorite pins of all time. It has been down for a few years now. Early on in my pin repair career I took a look at it and didn't get very far. I am going to make the attempt once again

I haven't found a lot of info out there and was hoping that there were some gurus here that could help get me started. I would like to solve this on my own, but I'm not against sending the board out either if there is a good Atari board tech.

The game starts up and is playable, but is unable to go through the test menu. I am guessing it is because the original batteries leaked taking with it the battery pack so it is not getting any juice.

Right now upon firing up I get a blinking 3 and 4 LED which are connected to the battery backed memory RAM (or so I think-I really should have highlighted that part in the manual).

Installing a new battery pack did not help.

Quoted from Atari_Daze:

Despite my moniker, no Atari pin expert here but with most things corrosion related, have you cleaned / confirmed all traces & components are still intact & functioning?

I did clean, but back in the day I did not trace. I will do that when I get it in. We are going to bring it to my house so I can spend some time one it.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

I wouldn't think the game would boot if there was a problem with the RAM.
Have you verified that the diagnostic switch actually closes when pressed?

I don't see that in my notes, but I will check that as well.

It's been four years since I looked at it last and I was completely lost as to what to do to move forward. I am more than likely going to grab the game after Easter and dig in to it.

He had some NOS ones about two years ago. I'm guessing he still does. Maybe not though.

Is he a member here?

Quoted from Pinthetic:

Sorry I missed this earlier.
I've worked on these many times over the years. Superman and Hercules. (Even Roadrunner and Neutron Star for DK). Most of the time it's old worn out Eprom sockets. (Unless you have a Prom version and if you do it needs to be converted to Eproms). On power up check the address and data lines for activity.

Many thanks!
