I have a double dragon with CRT monitor and jamma board. I wanted to buy a 750 in 1 horizontal jamma board so I had some more games to play. I bought this Elf jamma board and I can get it to play but the picture is messed up. I’ve switched back in the Double Dragon board and still works fine... Any ideas?

The picture looks great when powered on and that Game Elf screen comes on big the main menu and any game you play has picture problems...

You might need a chamma to jamma converter. I don’t own and elf/Pandora’s box, but understand that the wiring is slightly different than Jamma and that a “chamma” connection exists. Maybe this is what’s causing the video issues.

Tried changing resolutions. I think on elf its dips, on my Pandora its just a button on the unit. It might be in vga/hd instead of cga.

My Pandora would look fine on the one splash screen and terrible on the next.

Also yeah either rewire 27 or get a jamma to chamma converter board.

You can clip 27 and put it on another ground if you want.

I've had nothing but trouble with those Game Elf boards. Choppy gameplay, shitty video and bad audio. Ive returned all of them and just stayed with my 60 in 1. Read the reviews for them. They are just inferior boards. I keep hoping they will make better ones.

So it was in vga instead of cga... I fixed that already- not sure if there is something to change per below.

Is there a 60-1 horizontal I can out in my double dragon that you would recommended?

#12 3 years ago

FWIW - The Pandora's Box 6 JAMMA (pink casing) works well for most horizontal games from the mid 80s through early 90s on a CRT. I personally never tried the ELF, but have been curious about them. I would think any differences between JAMMA/CHAMMA would not affect the video, but the button inputs.

I think all the 60 in 1s are vertical only. They do make a 19 in 1 horizontal board. But that's alot less games than I think you're looking for.

So with what everyone sees here, what do you think, try and return?

you can pop out the 2 sides to pin 27 with a hair pin.. but they need to be pulled as your grounding an input. if you still have a problem, its possibly a bad board.

what monitor is in the DD? Its probably a k7000 slim mount. The board should work fine with it if its k7000. If you a pc monitor, plug it into the game elf and check the output

Thanks for the input. I returned the board and just bought a 19-1 board as suggested above and that plays like it should. It was a CRT monitor but Im not sure what type it is.

I was looking to get possibly Double Dragon 2 and Double Dragon 3. Is there a switcher or something you would recommend so I could mount all 4 boards inside and easily switch between games?

Thanks,
Dan

I have not used anything more than a double switcher in my smash tv cab to play total carnage.

They make several types. Up to 6 boards. They also make input switchers if your playing games with weirdly mapped controls (primal rage uses the start button as an action button).

Some of the switchers can get expensive. Some will power all the boards at the same time. Those will require a beefier power supply. If your not having to move inputs, maybe go with a game elf and a double switcher to play your double dragon.

I have mounted 4 boards on the side of the cabinet and manually switched the harness in a dynamo Hs1. But if you have the taito drawer cab, you don’t have much choice unless you nock out the divider.
