Quoted from RobT:GAME PLAY:
This is the biggy of course. And this is where my bias against mini play fields will come into play. The flippers, by the way, are plenty strong. There is simply no issue here. I could hit the main right ramp shot with either the right or left flipper with no problem. In fact, I was able to hit the upper right ramp 17 times in a row at one point with the left flipper. That is a satisfying shot, although it is obviously on the easy side, so I don't think it would retain it's "satisfying" nature very long. But I do like how it comes around the upper PF and then across and returns to the left flipper, although it takes longer than I'd like. There isn't a lot that happens real fast on WOZ.
There is also a more challenging satisfying shot on the right side under the upper PF. Those are the two most satisfying shots on the pin in my opinion.
To me, two satisfying shots is not sufficient. Especially when one of them is so easy. I do not consider hitting things like the Rainbow targets to be fun or satisfying. And sadly, but not surprisingly (given my prior bias against them), I did not find either of the upper PF's to be much fun either. It is kind of cool to get the house spinning, but that novelty wears off fast. The upper left PF and the doors was worse. Felt like work, not fun.
In short, I felt like there was a lack of (satisfying) shots on this pin. I think the two mini PF's take away too much real estate from the main PF, so if you aren't going to care for the mini PF's, you probably aren't going to like the game play as a whole. Other than a skill shot, I really have no idea what the upper right flipper on the main PF is for. Nothing satisfying about using that flipper at all.
So the bottom line is that I can't really say that I cared much for how this pin shoots/plays because of the layout.
There have been a lot of comparisons to TSPP, which are understandable, but I think TSPP has more shots in it than WOZ does.
It looks like The Hobbit will be a more open design, and appears to be much more compelling than the layout on WOZ (to me).
Completely agree. I hate to say it, I really hate to say it, but zero flow in this game.
