Quoted from CrazyLevi:Interesting if true. I'll take a pro!
Why doesn't anybody like the pro?
I think it's Angus's face. The lower playfield on the Premium isn't worth the upgrade. Actually, I tried to avoid it.
The Pro is solid.

Quoted from alveolus:Big Angus vs. lower playfield isn't a factor. It's the drops, the killer swinging bell, and most importantly the color-changing inserts.
Premium is definitely better for the reasons you listed. I also like the red trim!
For money and gameplay value, the Pro is a solid game, though.
Quoted from 27dnast:If Stern does this: foolish. They're quickly going to create a scenario where collectors will be gunshy on paying top dollar for what they perceive to be special/exclusive releases only to be one-upped a year or two later by another version of the same game.
Stern doesn't care about resale values.
If anything, when they see inflated prices on the secondary market, that's only more motivation for them to spin up something already developed and cash in.
Quoted from 27dnast:Not talking about IMVE or resale value.. I'm talking about NIB sales
But, you're saying Stern may miss out on NIB sales because consumers would rather wait several years after release to (potentially) get the new art package?
Most of these VE releases are chasing the titles with the inflated resale value. They're probably not going to re-run X-Men, but when they see ACDC Premiums going for $7500+, it's probably an easy decision for them to throw it on the line and make a few bucks without having to develop a new game.
Quoted from rawbars:I have a premium and have never really tried to exploit Hells Bells with VIP passes to keep playfield multipliers going. So what you guys are saying is, when you are in Hells Bells and you have a few VIP passes saved up you can get 2 X playfield going then use VIP passes to keep it going and advance it to 3 X playfield. And when you use the VIP pass it will physically swing the bell by activating the magnet?? I don't think I have ever seen mine do this. I wonder if my bell magnet is working properly? I have tested the magnet before and it does work. But I have never really seen it do anything during actual game play.
It only swings with the VIP pass during Hells Bells.
My favorite strategy was to play a couple non-Hells Bells, maybe after racking up VIP passes from previous balls, build up that song jackpot, get 2x/3x going on Hells Bells with the VIP button, then cash in that jackpot. Not easy to do, but can be rewarding.
This is primarily the reason I sold the game. I found myself generally using the same approach on most games. Pair that with a minimal sense of progression, and I had to move on. A great game but became too linear for me.
