After a lovely Air New Zealand 12.5 hour flight, we are back in the "land of the long white cloud"

Good to see my babies are alive and well!!!

Oh, and the dogs are ok too. Lucky we left them five weeks of rations. Amazing how creative dogs can be, I'd never have thought Toby could work a can opener by himself ...

Big sappy paragraph upcoming

This trip has been one of, if not my, favourite trip ever.

I got to see some of my older friends, while I also met some new ones. If I made a list of all the people, it would go for ages

I want to thank all of the people who gave me advice on this trip. Any at all. Like I feel within myself (haha sappy but I do) feel like I've matured a little bit more and I feel more prepared to face school and life haha oh goodness. If that makes any sense at all that'd be great.

I want to thank all of my competition for playing with me. Pretty much - no, all of y'all were so nice and accepting of me. I felt so welcome again. It was so lovely.

I want to thank the venues that we played at. I want to thank the directors for running all of the comps that I went to.

I thank people that are reading this stupid blog thing. Like it is pretty dumb. You have to admit with some of that humour.

I feel like I learnt so much over, what, five weeks. I can't say enough but I feel like all of y'all are great.

And to clarify kiwis don't actually use y'all, it's just me and my specialness.

All of your collections and houses that we visited were fabulous. I can not thank everyone enough.

I am glad to be home though. I'm ready to get back into school and I'll be happy to start learning again and doing work (if I may say that). Especially catching up on Chinese! Haha.

I have to go now, and give my lovely sister a big hug.

For now, this is a goodbye. But (being sappy still), I'm sure I'll be back. Maybe we'll be back with a hearse? (That's a joke, but I'm not saying it ain't gonna happen)

Derek "So ya'll are from New Zealand? Oh yeah, I know where it is. It's kinda like Australia, right? Well, not really Australia but it's all green, right? Well, not really green, green. Do you know what I mean? It's kinda like Florida. Well not really Florida. It's hard to explain. But, Well, It's kinda like, well. Have you ever eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Well, it's really not anything like that but you get what I'm saying, right?"

Man, RD. I want to go to NZ just to see you're game room.

Quoted from Danni_NZ:

Is this your name and where you live? You will not believe the things I found when I googled it.

Around here, we make scrapbooks of our trips. It makes it easy to show people who visit and want to see pictures of our trip. I don't know if you're into that sort of thing but I thought I would throw that out there.

btw, Great Thread. Thanks for taking the time.

But isn't this thread already the ultimate scrapbook? Can't get any better really so what's the point

You got it Mr Waddle Jr! This is my scrapbook.

If people want to know about the trip, I email them the link.

People still ask me about the Route 66 Hearse trip, so I email them the link.

If Robin closes Pinside, my scrapbook goes down the toilet though.

I back up everything to an external drive as well. Just in case ...

Good protection against HDD failure or accidental deletion, but not against theft or fire/flood! You should also backup online (I use BackBlaze, just $5 a month unlimited) and/or have a second redundant backup that you keep with a friend/neighbour/other residence and swap them over regularly.

I dont think so ... I love that song, I remember when I first heard it, it was the heaviest thing I had ever f****ing heard! Blew my mind.

They did play a really good mix of their songs.

I found this set list on line, it looks pretty close to what I remenber.

Good setlist, but Ton of Bricks would have put it over the top.

True! But when they came out and SMASHED Fake Healer first up, that was my show done right there. They could have stopped playing then, and I would have left happy.

Here goes a sample of what that'd be like ...

Hey everyone! It's 12pm here in Auckland. I just drove down to Pukekohe (45 mins each way..) to meet the fire alarm guy. I have to meet him there every month to test the fire alarms at my business park. On the way back I went and checked out a furniture wholesaler that's closing down, they had a pretty neat bookcase for my apartment. I'll probably go back and grab it tomorrow.

On the drive I listened to the new Jim Florentine podcast, it was more Bad Facebook posts, pretty ho hum. So I pulled up an old interview he did with Gary from Florida, he cracks me up. "Feels good on my mule, fella"

Now all the driving has made me tired so I'm lying on my sofa with my dogs. Might doze off, it's just one of those days ....

Riveting reading. Hahaha!
