Another play field "is this worth it" question

Here is a pic of part of the play field on my Royal Guard. The rest of the play field is just as bad. I had every intention of repainting and putting a few coats of clear to protect it but the more I read and look at this I'm wondering. I would like some suggestions. Is this salvageable? should I just put a couple of coats of clear and just enjoy the game? I just don't know. My skill level is below average which is why I'm asking. This is a big job. All suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all the reply's. Royal Guard is a good game, very challenging. The ball certainly doesn't run true. If I just clear coat would I fill the inserts first and then clear? Won't the clear coat fill the inserts? I'm new to all this.
