    It brings me great pleasure to announce the Pinball Co-op, a private pinball clubhouse in South Burlington, Vermont! The Pinball Co-op is run by friends, for friends, to promote the playing of pinball both casually and competitively. The club has a collection of privately owned pinball machines, set on free play, that are made accessible to the pinball community at large in the following ways:

    * League nights
    * Fun nights
    * Tournaments

    The Pinball Co-op will use the website, Facebook, Twitter, and an email list to announce a regular schedule, but also impromptu hangouts as they develop.

    Our soft opening happened yesterday for Vermont's IFPA State Championship. We're planning a grand opening in March with tournaments and general pinball fun.

    If you know of anybody who might be interested in the Pinball Co-op, please direct them to the website, Facebook, and/or Twitter. If they want to be added to the mailing list, please direct them to [email protected].

    Update: We just moved in our 12th game tonight, Jurassic Park.

    We have a team pingolf league starting up tomorrow that will have at least 7 teams of 4 players. The format we settled on is a little complicated, but I think it should work out well.

    Each week, we'll designate 6 machines and give them each a golf par point value or objective. E.g., score 600,000 on Fire; get an extra ball on Judge Dredd, etc.

    Each 4-player team will play all of these games. The team will play a 4-player game on 4 of the machines and will play a single split-flipper game on the remaining two games (with the non-playing teammates cheering on the split-flipper pair playing the game). Each team chooses which games they want to play as a 1-player split-flipper pair game and which to play as a 4-player game.

    As in regular golf, lower scores are better. You receive a score of 1 if you reach the machine's designated objective on ball 1, a 2 if you reach the objective on ball 2, a 3 if you reach the objective on ball 3, or a 4 if you fail to reach the objective.

    Your team's score for the week is the total of your team's 18 golf scores: 4 scores per individual for 4 games and 2 split-flipper scores.

    The team with the lowest golf point total at the end of the season is declared Team Pingolf champion.

    Update: It's been a busy year of pinball at the Pinball Co-op. We ran 6 league seasons, covering 48 out of 52 weeks in this 12-month period. And we ran a handful of tournaments.

    In total, we've had 28 different machines in our lineup since we opened our doors in February. Here's our current lineup:

    Alien Poker
    Attack From Mars
    Black Hole
    Creature from the Black Lagoon
    Funhouse
    Grand Prix
    Joker Poker
    Mata Hari
    Metallica (Pro)
    Mustang
    Mystic
    Paragon
    Robo-War
    The Shadow <-- just added this weekend
    Star Trek (Pro)

    Future plans including adding some shelving for drinks and scoresheets, and adding an air conditioning system that will keep up with a packed room on those hot summer days.

    We're making preparations to run the IFPA Vermont state pinball championship in February, and we're also currently planning the next team league that will start in March.
