Awesome! Appreciate all the hard work you put into Pinside.

Great feature.....but lots of bugs...

1) Grid elements can be placed on top of others, which is certainly not intended behavior.
2) Grid leaves lots of random blank grid space.
3) Switching from 2 to 3 columns and/or back results in closed up white space (see #2) reappearing.
4) Switching from 2 to 3 columns makes the 3rd column ads. I get the need for ads but this makes the 3 column option less helpful.

Chrome (latest), Windows 7.

What I appreciate is that you offer updates like this as an option, instead of forcing it on us like most websites. Thanks for that Robin and Martjn.

It looks great Robin. It allows me to sort all the posts so I don’t have front page overload.

When rearranging the grid on mobile, you can only scroll the page with the last few pixels on the right of the screen. If you scroll in the middle it obviously just picks up the topic and moves it. Maybe a tap and hold feature to move topics?

When moving topics on mobile the screen doesn’t auto scroll if you drag off the top or bottom of the visible screen.

One thing. My customised grid is not saving properly. If I leave the site and go back in the columns are sometimes in a different place. This is with Chrome on Windows.

Grid view is fabo. Does it auto refresh content (Windows/Chrome)?

This might be silly - but, would you consider having the "hide idle" option be possible per grid item? Like, the "Topics in which you posted" is one where I'd want to see a thread if there was new activity, but other boxes I might want to no hide idle threads.

On Safari iOS, I keep trying to change the setting in the Topics in Which You’ve Posted grid to sort by recent activity instead of date I last posted. Even though I keep saving my changes, it doesn’t save and returns to default. I haven’t checked whether this happens on my desktop computer yet.

I am liking it, so far.

Using Chrome/Windows I've noticed that sometimes if I refresh the individual panels on the grid the contents are wrong and don't relate to my profile or activity. For example, I'm currently seeing panels for Favorites, Linked to my Games and Topics Which You Viewed all of which don't relate to me.

Edit. I've just refreshed them again and now it's my content. This could relate to the Pinside tab being inactive and not selected for several hours.

Just confirmed. It does this on Chrome on my Windows desktop too. I really like the new set up, but if my settings don't save, I probably won't use it much. Hopefully, it is an easy bug to fix.

Hidden sub-forums in list view sometimes show up in grid view. I specifically noticed some of the O/T off topic threads showing up in the recent activity area.

When I see "somebody elses" grid (ie noticeable on Favorites, Recently Viewed, Linked to Games panels), I see a different selection of tech sub-forums from mine too so perhaps related.

It just happened again and the Linked to Games seems to be the same as the previous occurrence including Fireball 2 and Fathom (I wish!).

Love the feature.

I apologize in advance if it already exists and I missed it, but I would advocate for a feature to have a box for all the on fire or hot topics. That way I could just jump on and see what the flavor of the minute is and get my daily dose of drama from all over Pinside at a glance.

It would be great if you could scroll through topics in each grid section"window" instead of having to hit Load More.

If I try clicking "Load more" in one of the windows that already is displaying all of the Topics available in the window, the refresh animation runs and runs.

So in the case listed below, I have only started 8 topics, all of which are displayed. If I hit "Load more," it appears to try to refresh indefinitely.

Same here on Chrome. Actually, if you keep loading a panel then the same happens once all of the contents are displayed and you attempt to "Load more"

A lot of my grids read like below or similar
"You have disabled X out of 1 sub-forums" where X is the correct number but I don't understand the 1

e.g.
All Pinball - "You have disabled 7 out of 1 sub-forums in this forum. Hit to configure."
Electro Mechanical - "You have disabled 2 out of 3 sub-forums in this forum." But there are 5 sub-forums?

To be clear, I think this new grid is great just feeding back minor stuff I notice.

Is it possible to hide the topics you already have read (shown as gray 0) ? Would make it easier to skim the list for other interesting topics to read....

Kudos Pinside masters. Robin, I love your creative thinking and might just throw another donation your way cuz I think the work to make Pinside better is worth a few bucks.

I like the new grid view and I now use it instead of the list view. Nice work! One item for the wish list: I would like to customize the view so the Super Stickies pane is gone entirely, or at least have that pane comply with my Hide Idle setting.

This is the best new feature I have seen implemented on Pinside in the time I have been here. It encourages me to look at, and stumble upon, topics that I would not find otherwise much easier. Well done.

Well, here is something I inquired about a couple times in the past, but never received an answer to. I had bookmarked a Pinside URL that isolated a view of those threads which I had posted in, hierarchically arranged with most recent post / reply activity. It was an extremely useful feature ! This bookmark worked perfectly for quite some time, and then for whatever reason ceased working. Did the forum software change at some point, making this no longer possible ? Or is there an updated URL version of that View I need to switch to as a browser bookmark ? Can someone please enlighten me on that score.

I guess people will have to take my word for it, but that link did NOT work here, for many months. (It just went to the Forum front page.) I move between several computers, so I'll have to check to see if this result is uniform. This morning, for the first time in a long time, it did work again. I don't know why. That view provides a huge convenience in the regular use of Pinside.

[I have now found your earlier answer, from 10 months ago. It was apparently a minor change in the URL at fault, but still enough to throw things off with the original bookmark. There may have been some redirection applied, since then.]

So, it used to be that if I selected Grid View, when I would log out and come back in again, Grid View would be my default. Now it always defaults to List View. Not sure if that is intentional.

I just tried that on my desktop pc on chrome. I didn't have that problem and stayed in grid view. Perhaps some more info about platform and browser would help Robin track this down.

It happens in Chrome on my PC and in Safari on my iPad.

Sorry. I should have updated my post. It happened for about a week, and then it corrected itself so all seems well for the moment. I thought you had maybe fixed something, but if not, I’m not sure what the cause was. But it was only temporary.

I've really grown to like the grid view.

Only annoyance for me is when I view a topic with new posts and then navigate "Back" in the browser, the badge with number of new posts does not update to show it was viewed. It would be great if it worked the way the "Favorite topics" page behaves.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Find a topic in grid that has new posts (green badge) and click it
2) Click back in browser to get back to the grid
3) Notice the clicked topic still shows the same number of new posts since before you clicked and has green badge
