Bought 2. Sounds great.

I got two of these as get out of jail cards. I don't plan to run them until I am in a spot where the game is resetting frequently and I am awaiting repair. I consider the watchdog a good indicator of issues with the 5v path, so I want it to reset when there is a legitimate reason to do so. It's awesome to have this not only as a way to recover from a fatal issue until the proper repair can be made, but to also definitely narrow the issue down to the 5v circuit. It's a well done product that I am happy to support.

It's basically just a link to your site with this pretext:

... but I was thinking within the confines of the original boards.
Imeh,
The wildcard your situation adds is the Rottendog replacement power board. They clearly have redesigned the 5 volt line for reliability compared to the original linear 5 volt design - I don't see an LM323 in the board's photo. I don't know whether they redesigned the 12 volt digital line. If they are using an LM7812 like the original (i.e., no redesign) then their board can drive the MPU via the daughterboard with no issues. If they re-designed the 12 volt digital supply they would have chosen one of two paths: (1) redesign the 12 volt digital supply to meet/exceed the original PDB specifications or (2) redesign the 12 volt digital supply to drive all known loading permutations (which are significantly less than what the original PDB is capable of delivering in all 49 WPC titles). If they redesigned it using path (1) you can safely install and run the machines with the daughterboards. If they redesigned it using path (2) then the redesign might not meet the specs of the original boards and it therefore might not have the spare capacity to run the MPU on the 12 volt line. It seems highly unlikely that Rottendog would have chosen path (2) but it is worth mentioning since I don't have one of their boards nor do I have the schematic for their boards.
Your new MPU is a consumer of power; it won't care whether it gets delivered via a daughterboard so no issues there.
Great question!

He is using a 12V regulator at U11 (an LM7812):

As seen on this schematic: http://www.rottendog.us/WDB089_PAGE1.pdf

The 5V regulator is an improvement over the original design as he's using a low dropout LM1085 for the regulated 5V.

will this work on a TALES OF THE ARABAIN NIGHTS?

Yes.
