Last weekend was our annual Ugly Sweater Party and the second since I starting collecting/playing pinball machines. Last year people drifted over to the machines and played on and off through the night.
This year I used iScored on a laptop hooked up to the TV to run a Pinball tournament of sorts. What I did was put some cash (various amounts) into envelopes taped above the machines and announced that whoever had the high score on a machine would win that machines envelope. I also did the same for Ms Pac-Man and Burger Time for those Pinball illiterates.
Let me tell you, even though the cash was very small just the tracking made everyone super competitive and the machines were in almost non-stop use all night. It was crazy. People had until 9:30 to start a game and when I announced at 9:15 that there was only 15 minutes left there were people in line trying to post one last score, lol. My sister in law (who never played Pinball before) presses the start button on Waterworld right before the clock ticked 9:30 so she got to play her game and she demolished everyone to come in first.
It was a crazy fun night and the app made all the difference.
