Any recommendations on USB devices for a Pinsound1? No point getting USB3.1 etc I assume?

Also I've seen some comments on volume level issues between music and effects and various mixes have been updated (LOTR) for Pinsound+. Since I have a Pinsound1 is there any difference or are the mixes interchangeable? (Should I be using older mixes instead?)
