If it looks easy to do then start your own pinball company restoration parts business etc . Go Bitch somewhere else
    Bunch of A- holes

There is a wide range here for sure. There are people that hold up the old to the new and complain aboot colors and it's totally recoculus.
Then on the other hand you have CPR leaving out PF text and wrong insert colors that are kind of basic stuff really.
So a mixed bag for sure. Not enough to call everyone assholes for me, hopeully not enough to stop all your important restos; should be a happy medium.
As I've always said, CPR has the most thankless job in pinball!

    Quoted from Cherries_Jubilee:

CPR is not doing "On-Demand" playfield printing ( On-Demand meaning you order it today & tomorrow they make it )......What they are doing is making a small batch of say 15-20 of the Back-Catalog playfields and when their inventory gets "low" on that title ( say 2-3 ) they will make another small batch....this will allow them to basically have everything "always" in-stock.

Wait, now I am confused. I have been following this thread but maybe I lost track of some changes. I always thought that once everything was online, as long as the artwork was available somehow, you could order one at any time. This is from the first announcement post in this thread:

What if we could make one at a time?

Starting now, this IS the reality at CPR. This changes everything - not only here - but for repro in the hobby at large. This is a staggering new reality here - so let this sink in - THERE IS NOW NO SUCH THING AS A MINIMUM RUN SIZE AT CPR. We can make ten. We can make fifty. We can make one. No barriers to market any longer.

Yes, I'm not sure who at CPR responded to my email recently (it was through their website contact ), but he said basically that should never have been posted, and as the above quoted response states, they're probably just going to keep a small inventory, but I dont see evidence of that at this point either. Can someone just reach out to the company and clarify this and maybe post a response. I'll do it later if I can.

If it's true that this should never have been posted, shouldn't they have posted a retraction then?

The original post is not "accidental", it's quite long and detailed...and has been there for over a year now. If CPR has changed directions (or never really meant to go this direction), it seems like they should say so.

I thought about it a bit more. Things aren't so cut and dried, because. Pinball.

OK, so for a backglass, it seems it should be easy. If you have the artwork, it should be pretty easy to do a one-off. Get the glass, put it in the printer, and you are good to go. Not all backglasses are the same dimensions, but it shouldn't be too hard to stock the different sizes.

For plastics, its also fairly straightforward, although not as simple as the backglass. You have to be able to cut out all of the different shapes. So that's more work. I'm not sure what process is used to cut those out.

For a playfield, that's another issue. You can't just pull off a board and print the artwork on it. You have to CNC all of the holes which are different for every machine. And get the inserts, which are different for every playfield, and then install those. That is what makes a one-off playfield not too practical. The only way it might be easy is if you could send in your old sanded playfield and have them print onto that.

You run into problems doing this too ... different manufacturers made the same playfields. Your original playfield may not align with their artwork. There might be ways for them to determine your playfield's original manufacturer and scale the artwork accordingly, but there might be small registration issues with respect to the inserts that will drive people bonkers.

None-the-less, I would LOVE to see some company offer a "direct print to your trashed playfield" service. I could live with minor registration issues . I have a friend in KY that works with those uber-expensive, big ass, "print on anything" printers, but we have no art to test out their printer. I kind of wish there was an artwork repo out there to try it out since I have a trashed Medieval Madness playfield as well as an AFM playfield (as well as several others) I could use as a guniea pig (I know all of that artwork is owned ... I am not looking to pirate anything).

Do you mean no rights to license or something? I don’t understand “no artwork”

There’s artwork, I’m looking right at it. (Waves hands at backglass)
If they can do the playfield and plastics what’s the hold up?

KevinCPR Scan this thing and pump them out!
    Money in the bank.

Anyone with a replacement Rolling Stones backglass from CPR that can comment on quality and color correctness?

I wouldn't mind my DE GNR playfield to be finished with and sent back. I think the two year anniversary is this summer.
