Losing that Subaru hat really put me in a tailspin.

Quoted from yancy:In! With apologies to EchoVictor, I have a t-shirt idea:
    [quoted image]

All you need to do now is add a tent blowing into a truck. Then you would be set!

    #104 1 year ago

nearly 1/2 sold out. don't wait too long to get a ticket reservation.

    #105 1 year ago

Two for Sunday. We usually go Saturday, but now the the hours on both days are the same.
Saturdays are for drinking on the boat!

    #106 1 year ago
    Quoted from cfh:

More like banger jay on a minibike... a broken in half minibike...

Wearing his man thong and holding a PBR in one hand.

I take it this fued is not overwith yet?

    #107 1 year ago

Just got my tickets for both Saturday and Sunday. Can't wait!

    #108 1 year ago

Subbing to the thread... need to check calendar, and will buy tickets asap.

    Its been a while.

    There's no feud.

Or if there is one they can settle it on the fucking course!

    #110 1 year ago

    There’s a fucking course?

    Quoted from bangerjay:

    There’s a fucking course?

Just warmed it up last week; Funner with gears.

    Quoted from TheLaw:

hey, hey, hey! you can't use the word "funner" without explicit expressed use by me. I own the copyright on that abomination of a word

I think they should Joust in speedos while riding mini-bikes!

    #115 1 year ago
    Quoted from bangerjay:

    There’s a fucking course?

Yup...I flunked it back when I was a teen...

Then I learned that is just like playing pinball.

A little nudge here and a bump there makes all the difference.

    #116 1 year ago

Got our tickets reserved for both days!!

    #118 1 year ago
    Quoted from bangerjay:

    There’s a fucking course?

I always thought it was in, out, repeat if necessary.

Damn! Almost forgot to get my ticket! Got in for Sunday again. Can't wait!

I am in process of making airline and car rental and hotel reservations.
Any suggestions for any cheap hotels within 10-15 mile radius for <$100/nite?
Any camping allowed at VFW or is that a thing of the past.
Also last time I drove from DTW airport to VFW (a couple 2-3 yrs ago) there was all kinds of road construction and detours.
Any heads up info on possible routes to avoid when driving from DTW would be appreciated.

And please do not tell me it is homecoming weekend at Ann Arbor that week.

    cheers Tom

Days Inn by Wyndham Whitmore Lake is the closest. The place has been there since the beginning of time, however it seems to be well maintained (although I’ve never stayed there).

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Brighton South is almost brand new. Can’t go wrong there.

There are no prearranged hotel discounts for the show.

Plymouth, Ann Arbor, Novi, Brighton, Howell define the nearest city’s/towns in descending order of *price point* at a 20 mile radius. No issues with *bad* neighborhoods anywhere in that zone.

Michigan football is at Iowa that Saturday.

No construction issuers as far as I know. Check back the week before.

Don’t plan on camping. The last several shows it was not available for a numbers of reasons. Clay will have the final word on that.

Oh, my gosh...even *I* like that...

...though it should be noted that I believe the center person should have a black eye or two in it.

    #125 1 year ago

I got my airline tickets and car rental squared away
now just need to choose a hotel.
Taking red eye from PDX to DTW
    arrive 6am Oct 1st SAT
Leave DTW on Sunday at 8pm
    wham bam thank you ma'm

I'm in for both days again!

Hoping that the current rash of airline flight cancelations will be over by October, and no more covid spikes pop up. Also hope a 3rd variant specific booster will be approved and available by end if Sept.
Got my hotel in Ann Arbor for about $70/nite.
Looking forward to playing all the 100+ ( new) games VFW has acquired since my last visit.

    Damn
Well it has already started (for me)
    Flight cancelations or schedule changes.
Delta just sent me an email,
my nonstop flight to Detroit from PDX was cancelled
now I have to fly thru SLC.
I have to leave PDX about 3 hrs sooner
and now arrive to Detroit about 5AM Saturday instead of 630AM.
Hope my non stop flight home does not change.

    Shoot
7 hrs later got a 2nd email changing my return flight home
from a non stop to another flight thru SLC.
    Crap
Fortunately the changes do not disrupt my plans too much,
from enjoying the VFW pinball show to the fullest and for as long as possible.

    Ride a mini bike there

Where did you find a hotel in the Deuce for $70/nite. Whatever you do, do NOT stay the the Embassy Hotel (not to be confused with the Embassy Suites) or the Victory Hotel (unless you are looking to rent some entertainment for a lonely night).

There are 3/4 at roughly the corner of Plymouth and Green that are decent. I would probably not book the Red Roof, it's half knocked down now anyway. Microtel, Doubletree, Hampton are all OK.

Ah, memories of the Rose Arbor Motel on I-94 near the Dexter exit....

Tickets for Saturday are bought! It'll be our first time going but it's just a stone's throw away. Can't wait!

I hope that Clay can get the rest of the Early Stern machines like Stampede, Rawhide, Disco, Memory Lane, Wild Fyre along with Pat Hand, Phoenix, Bugs Bunny Birthday Ball, Freedom, Black Jack, Hot Tip, Wild Card, World Cup (1978), Disco Fever, Contact, Stellar Wars, Star Light, Lucky Seven, along with the rest of the Zaccaria machines. Maybe we can get some Playmatic machines into the museum.

I know we will get a discount on Admission, if we show a valid Covid-19 Vaccine card.

What do we get if we have a monkey pox vaccine?

I heard a Ghostbuster’s with your name on it

    #149 1 year ago

i really liked the Jersey Guns and Roses. but got so much pressure from club members to trade it off, so that's why that happened. i don't understand the hate for GnR. but being a team player, did the trade for Deadpool.

newest hit at the VFW is the rockola jigsaw. Friday night they played the crap out that game!
