Quoted from hlaj78:JM, are you going to have dmd clocks as prizes?
you sir, are one funny guy
Quoted from adania:Are there any steps required to register beyond buying the ticket on paypal? I neglected to put any "instructions" in the paypal transaction, and the only confirmation I got was from paypal itself. I think i got one of each ticket...
I'm looking forward to going back to Michigan for a long weekend. But i certainly hope it's spring-like by then!
keep your paypal payment email or at the very least capture the transaction with your cell phone. most people bring either a print out of their transaction or pull it up on their smart phones (the transaction shows their name and payment email address)
Quoted from yancy:...and no line to play awesomely weird old games from manufacturers you've never heard of.
except that genco lucky 7 roll down game is horrible. everyone should steer clear of that one
Quoted from cletus:You should consider adding your show to the Pinside events page.
https://pinside.com/pinball/events/add
I've completed this for clay (maybe this will bump me from "rust" to "tin" status @ the club
yeah, we need to put him in charge of something that he can't harm this year, like the hot dog and hamburger buns
Quoted from dhard:No way Elvis has the grill area covered and he does a damn fine job too
"elvis" can continue to control the grill (he does a fine job and I wouldn't want to take that it away from him). we'll just make rob his little "mr. slave" for the buns and condiments
should be get rob a gimp outfit to fit the part?
Quoted from Pinballogist:Same here. I was able to get a ticket for Friday and Sunday, but not Saturday.
Really wish this place was open more than once a year - anyone know the guy with the key? I'd like to buy that guy a beer and be his new best friend.
it would take a lot more than a beer unless you're a hot chick. sorry buddy
or just get there when the show opens on a given day
typically, there are about 30-50 people waiting when we open the doors, but given that there are now 400 machines to play, you would probably only have to wait behind one person to play a game
as the day progresses, the popular [and well known] titles tend to draw more people but I still don't remember people having to wait more than 3 games to play something (definitely, a lot better than waiting 2 hours in line at cedar point to ride a 30-second long roller coaster ride!
I've got a ton of dragonmilk reserve 4-pk's that I will probably never drink and would like to unload
I can bring the following with me if people are interested in purchasing them:
dragonmilk reserve (I have one 4-pk of each) - $25 per 4-pk
- salted caramel
- raspberry lemon
- mocha mint
- coffee & chocolate
DKML - $30 for the 4-pk
KBS (2017) - $40 for the 4-pk
bell's black note 2017 - $15 per bottle (I have 3)
hey! I heard that there was going to be a saturday night tourney. how come you haven't posted any information on this? is a "secret" tournament?
ps
I also heard that the VFW members running this supposed secret tourney are really cool
tickets for the saturday night tourney should be available on the vfwpinball.com website soon. like the friday EM tourney, spaces will be limited
Quoted from Puffdanny:I just hope they don't let the doorman run the tourney
echovictor?
I'm ordering an extra dozen staff shirts this year. those will be available for $50 each in the parking lot
ps
they will all be XS shirts
things will probably move again before the show to provide ample navigation room for all of us svelte pinball players
a number of were at the club last night cleaning and shopping out games to make sure that they are ready for the 30+ hours of abuse that they'll take over the upcoming may weekend
Quoted from dhard:Put Mr Bally on latrine duty after that loose pop bumper cap kicked his ass last year on Friday he needs to work his way back up from that and his hair looks like it would make a pretty good scrubby
sorry, as a "rust" level member I do not possess the authority to give orders to anyone at the club, especially mr. bally
and we won't even talk about the "extra" coil that I worked around last night. in the words of bryan kelly, I said we're not talk about it!!
btw, while not specified on the vfwpinball.com website, the cost of the saturday night tournament is $25 and is limited to 64 participants (this part is specified)
if the tournament sells out, I may drag something cool and pinball related out of my coffers to offer up as a random draw prize (and 'no, it's not a run-dmd clock'. those days are long gone
Quoted from Beyndtstng:Can we play other games while waiting in the queue or do we just have sit back? If so how long would be waiting if we won and were in the back? Just looking to maximize play time. Thought someone told me you have to wait outside or something like that in the past. Just wanting clarification before purchasing two, thank you
remember that you are purchasing a ticket for the saturday evening tournament, not additional play time in the main hall.
unlike the friday morning [strikes] tournament, NO players are eliminated until the 3 hours of head-to-head action are over. (I know that some people purchase a friday tournament ticket to get eliminated quickly just to have access to the showcase's other games earlier).
more details will follow shortly, but I can state that I do not believe that anyone will be standing around for very long between matches.
- j.m. VFW "rust" member
friday morning tournament co-coordinator, saturday evening tournament assisting coordinator
be 'ware the glass breaker!
sneaking into your home when you are sound asleep, he will remove the glass from your machines and carefully set them down. however with a soulless stare, he will cause them to shatter into a million little shards
Quoted from TheLaw:Actually 2 people broke glasses last year, and I was neither of them.
what about the year before?
Quoted from MrBally:For some reason, it wouldn't let me change to 1080p resolution like it has in the past, Mr skeleton gloves......
I thought that we affectionately called him "eraser head"?
cancer rob (resized).jpg
Quoted from MrBally:In 17 days at the 2018 VFW Pinball Showcase, you can look for yourself at these shrubs and try to determine which one is a fake.....
that's predator's camouflage ability isn't working too well. he must have gotten wet!
Quoted from GrueLurks:I heard he built an EM version out of spare parts too.
I heard that he held a special course and taught richard dean anderson (macgyver) a bunch of his "tricks" so that mr. anderson could get that tv role
Quoted from MrBally:The upgraded guest parking lot is now ready for visitors to the show in ten days....
don't show them where the bodies are buried!!!
I think that we'll have to start a betting pool among the staff and see which one of lucky us slaves to clay, erm.. staff members gets to reset a game and shame someone for being inconsiderate
Quoted from yancy:Sorry, I have no way to bring a game to the show. Riding with a few friends.
really?!? you call the guys who will gladly take your gold sac coins, friends?

<snarky response inbound> or take 5 seconds and search for last year's thread [here] and filter down to clay's replies
or this (last years thread posts 311 and 312):

in addition to bringing your paypal receipt, it helps to know the name associated with that account. yes, this sounds like a basic thing, but its a huge time savings for echovictor when he's attempting to look up the transaction
(surprisingly, more than a few people have more than one paypal account)
Quoted from newmantjn:....but it only takes 3 seconds to ask about it and have you be their bitch.
nope, I'm not running the door this year. apparently, I've been demoted to a club member level lower than "rust". (something about the fact that I was smiling too much which made it appear as if I wasn't doing any "actual" work
at least I'm not boag (aka "bathroom stall boy"
I've got some dragonmilk reserve 4-pk's that I will probably never drink and would like to unload
I can bring the following with me if people are interested in purchasing them:
dragonmilk reserve (I have one 4-pk of each) - $20 per 4-pk
- salted caramel
- mocha mint
DKML - $25 for the 4-pk
and for the rich among you, I have a sealed bottle of sam adam's utopias 2017 - $350
Quoted from newmantjn:BACKGLASSES
Playboy - I had it sold, but the guy forgot to pick it up at Kzoo. $25
Contest- Now mounted in it's cut down back box, suitable for a wall hanging. $25
Spot 'Em - Bingo. Great shape, but...its a Bingo. $15
Eight Ball - A hanger for sure. $15
Or make me an offer on the lot.
Can bring to the VFW Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

wtf?!? that basement is a pigsty. get it organized!!!

Quoted from Defender:Just went through and cleaned Defender. I will be bringing this for free play to the VFW.
There are plenty of rare games already there, and I though I would give some people that have never played this an opportunity.
that's incredibly awesome of you greg. remind me to bring you a nice beer
Quoted from Defender:Beer is good. How about a nice, dark stout?
how about a nice imperial milkshake stout?
Quoted from roar:I dropped you a PM yesterday j_m_, hoping you had a chance to read it.
yep, check your email inbox
Quoted from SilverBallKid:Hey Saturday peeps, I still like the idea of a Pinsider meetup, just to put names and faces together. Anybody want to throw out a time? Wouldn't take long and we could just meet on the grassy knoll between the main room and the snack bar.
I've got 15 in my crew, but only 3 or 4 of us are Pinsiders.
Let me know what you all think!
sounds good. I'll be there around 7:30am (cleaning games) and will be the one with the super big gulp margarita!
Quoted from Beyndtstng:Let us know what the rules are. We couldn’t figure this one out in Banning.
excellent. greg and I will take you guys on @ $10 a man
Quoted from tamoore:First time at the show. It was good to see everyone! I didn't play a lot of pinball, but I did see a lot of cool stuff and spent the afternoon in one of the wonders of the world! Thanks VFW!
I didn't see you there. you must have showed up on sunday
