The 1957 Bally Carnival is ready for the 2018 Ann Arbor show. Carnival was one of only three models of pinball machines made by Bally in the 1950s (Bally concentrated on gambling devices like Bingos during that time). The game has a couple very unique features. One is the arcing four flippers. When 'flipped', the flipper move normally, but also move in an arc. The other unique feature is the 'pussy snapper', in the center of the playfield. Spelling CARN will open the snapper. Putting the ball into the snapper will give the player the incremental bonus. Then the ball is ejected out of the snapper, to the point
where it often hits the top glass! The 1957 Bally Carnival is a really rare game, and one that is hard to find in any sort of decent condition.
Etiquette question: My wife and I are newer to pinball. We are attending the show on Sunday, and on top of enjoying the collection we want to try some older machines we are considering purchasing (later).
Is it okay for two people to wait and use a machine and play two players together at the VFW or similar shows? I assume as long as the player is 1
per credit it is ok... I was put off by single players playing 4 games at a time at the show in Kalamazoo. Playing together allows us to compare notes real time.
Likely a stupid question, but I appreciate any insight.
You are fine to play 1 credit per player, when done playing look around to make sure no one is waiting and if not play again.the only problem is when it's crowded finding a spot to stand and wait your turn can be challenging.me and my wife will play together early or late in the day but during peak hours we play solo.

Yeah, single players playing multi-player games is a dick move.
Multiple players playing multi-player games (one player each person) is cool and fun.

Nope he's laying down the law this year and randomly resetting games if you don't have personal security it should add to the fun

I also saw two losers playing a four player game at PATZ. It took me a few minutes, while waiting behind them, to figure out what was going on.

One of the functions for the VFW Staff is to look over idle machines to see if in a Game Over status while walking the aisles. If not, just plunge balls or simply turn game off - wait a few seconds - turn back on. All for your pleasure.

I think that we'll have to start a betting pool among the staff and see which one of lucky us slaves to clay, erm.. staff members gets to reset a game and shame someone for being inconsiderate

Last year a single person was playing a four player game on Apollo 13... wanted to play it with my nephew so I was a little pissed but not worth arguing with so many games to play.

At PATZ, games in Tournament Play are an area of confusion for new attendees. Many people who never participated in a pinball tournament or a pinball showcase were a tournament was being played don't understand how this works.
You pay for the number of games you want to play, and then are supposed to get in line by requesting a number from a referee (someone with a tablet) and waiting for your turn, and then play only one game at a time. Nobody explains this to you or asks if you understand the rules when you pay to play a game in tournament. This doesn't mean the person was being selfish, just a newb.
