Excited to come to VFW. Got my Saturday ticket and the poker ticket tourney ticket.
Hope I can make good time in traffic that morning. Likely not leaving the day before .

Never been to a big pinball event. Just local stuff. Hoping to meet new people and make some connections...
We Canadians can be a helpful hand
Quoted from dhard:Here's a food connection in my town (imlay city) 1hr east of Sarnia off I69+M53 we have a place called Lucky's steakhouse great for lunch or dinner with good food and reasonable prices
Do you mean west? East of Sarnia is more Ontario lol
So people are talking about off site food and etc. Are the tickets in/out priveledged? Or once you're in, you stay in?
Noobie here
Quoted from nsduprr:well... not exactly "leave". There are three buildings, a 15 foot door to door walk between them. Each person will have a show wrist band good for that days event. There is a different wrist band per day. You can come and go from the VFW property at will.

Perfect. Sounds great
Id like to preorder, but not sure about sizing.
Are they gildan? Fruit of the loom? Other?
Just hoping not to screw up if I prepay.
Quoted from BMHouze:How much will the rules posters be?
Must have missed it.
His post says $25 cash
I wanna play Aerosmith.
BM66 didnt thrill me. and Alien I thought wasnt complete. (I could be wrong)
Officially at my hotel . Staying over in Farmington hills. Gonna visit Marvin's tonight and be at VFW tomorrow.
Very excited, can't wait!!
A great show and a great day!
Poker tournament was great, although I left a little early.
Happy to meet so many new people!!!
Some general pics I took. Didn't take any game close-ups.
Already excited for next year!

Quoted from RCA1:Had a great time as usual.
Thanks to all the worker bees. They did a great job of keeping everything working well.
Saw two pieces of playfield glass get broken at different times near the Zac machines. Careful guys!
Also I played in the Saturday night tournament. I left after five rounds since I was not playing well and had to be up early. I did check out with the tournament organizers. I had a great time losing while I was there. Thanks guys!
Did something go haywire after that?
It was an unfortunate miscommunication when there was an early win.
Quoted from Mbecker:Well we ended up going to the ford museum first and the village, with a backup pinball plan. As it turned out, that place is massive and pretty amazing!! We didn't make it to pinball but thanks for the info on Pete's and sparkys!
thelaw -- trademark gloves and hair -- were you a volunteer with the black gloves with (skeletons?) and the sort of spikey Mohawkish hair by any chance?
Quoted from Rum-Z:Yep, that's him.
Bastard made me hold the glass of a woodrail as he 'worked' on it.
J/k
At least we had a good final few minutes Saturday playing Bones! I almost took it home with me.
Quoted from Rum-Z:I was working most of the show during all 3 days, helping out in an orange staff shirt. It was cool meeting some fellow Pinsiders who came to visit us. It would have been cool to see people with Pinside nametags so I could put some faces with Pinside handles.
I wanted to pose that idea, but thought I'd get laughed at
Quoted from dhard:Would have been easy to find you if you wore that chicken head in your avatar maybe put that on a shirt for next year
It's the angry chicken from family Guy
Lots of shirts have him on it, but I don't own any.
Quoted from EchoVictor:Roger R did most of the heavy lifting....I added a few touches here and there. Hardest part was deciding how much or how little to add. We went with all pencil to try and maintain that "prototype" look, and so that if needed, we could erase it all and go back to whitewood.
Later,
EV
Should have put Clay's headshot on the playfield. Similar to Angus on acdc pro
Quoted from RyanClaytor:FWIW, I just uploaded an exhaustive picto wrap-up post on my website:
http://www.elephanteater.com/12531
Thanks, Clay and crew, for the great show.
Thank god my ugly mug didnt show up in your write-up. I know you snapped me to help J_M_ find me.
Quoted from j_m_:ryan plans to use that photo for something far more sinister
I was wondering why I had to remove my pants for a face shot.
I tossed a pair of aces out when I left early. I was just exhausted and had to drive back to my hotel.
What was the winning hand?
Quoted from aalucero:That is a good question. From what I heard it depends on who you ask. LOL
Im asking about the winning 'poker hand'
Im not worried about the 'five card 21', I was there for that part
Quoted from wizard_mode:Oh interesting! Too bad I missed it. The EM tourney was awesome though!
So, were there 2 winners? One for BJ and one Poker? Are the results posted somewhere?
There was actually a few gift cards that I saw, and first to 21 was given one, and there were still others left for the poker hand winner(s)
Quoted from cfh:I really liked that trophy. Even though it's in 14 pieces now...
On a serious note. For next year, do you guys want to do the Poker pinball again? Obviously that "21" rule will need to be modified (or that feature just removed.) Also will probably trim the number of people down so it moves faster. But was that a good/interesting format, or not so much??
Was also thinking of trying to figure out a way to incorporate bluffing into the rule set. I mean poker has a big bluffing element to it. Just not sure how to do that...
I thought the tourney was awesome, and def would enter again.
Lowering the number playing to move it along would be helpful.
You can also keep the 21 rule, just have a secondary trophy or some type of award to recognize it. That way first to 21 gets something, but the rounds don't stop and best hand is still the 'big win'
Going for a 21 hand vs going for a poker hand adds risk vs reward element that normal poker can't adjust for. I thought it was a great trick, just needed a better ruling.
Quoted from EchoVictor:That would be me. I've run the front desk all three days of the show since the start, and will continue to do so indefinitely. Glad you enjoyed the show!
Thanks,
Eric
Indefinitely eh?
VFW 2074
Quoted from Bribo13:Close the place up at 8pm on Saturday, No Saturday night anything , no after hours play of any kind .
If people still need to play some pinball, Pinball Pete's is just a quick trip down the road. there is the Arcade in Brighton , many other options .
Close it down at 8pm No Mas `
My 2c

Quoted from Bribo13:Ever humble ...
Speaking of humble, you've upgraded from sir of ortonville to all of Michigan . Lol
