The downside of having a decent size lineup...problems pile up....

My STLE top right flipper will stay up until I hit the flipper buttons a few times. thought a bushing or something, but after further inspection, when the flipper is up, I can feel a slight coil hum (finger on top of the flipper), yet can easily push it back down, like there's some kind of minimal voltage holding it up.

Where to start on this game?...Lloyd???

Quoted from jfesler:

Does it stay up when you power off (electrical), or does it fall down (mechnical)?

Actually, when I powered the machine off, it stayed up...

Swear I felt the coil buzzing underneath....need a repair break....ordered rebuild kit, as I'd already changed the sleeve and bushing, to no avail. Must be the mech sticking slightly.....

Quoted from pinballaddicted:

Turned out the nylon bush that activates the EOS switch had turned 90 degrees and was getting caught on the EOS blades of the switch.

Interesting....is this nylon bushing at the flipper button switch? Could be my culprit.....

Nope...but added another as a temp fix until the rebuild kit arrives.....snaps back like a magnet now......

Quoted from hocuslocus:

I had something new happen to me on GOTG recently. the coil stop and rivet came loose, just enough to where it caught the plunger every now and again.
This caused the flipper to stay in the up position. had to flip it like 6 or 7 times to get it to come down, replaced the coil stop now everything is good.
if not then there has to be some type of obstruction in the coil sleeve. or the coil got really hot and melted the sleeve just enough to where its pretty tight, but movable.
post it when you find out.

Quoted from pinballaddicted:

It took me a while to work it out too. This is the rectangular piece of nylon that activates the EOS switch. The piece needs to sit as per the photo. On the machine I look after, this piece had turned 90 degrees and was catching on the leaf of the EOS.

both possible culprits....right now, I've got dual springs in ( the second goes all the way back to the attachment bolt for the mech) works fine, but I want to solve the problem correctly. Terry sending me a new rebuld kit w Bushing....will post when I figure it out.....

Well...did a flipper rebuild w new spring and bushing, etc. Works great......

I must have stared at the pieces that were replaced for 20 minutes, trying to decide what was the culprit....the only thing I can guess was a slight bind in the mech itself.....

Moral of this story...once you identify it's mechanical, just rebuild the entire thing, as time = $$$....lesson learned....thanks for the tips...cleaned the bats and changed the rubber to nice fresh Titan's.....time to play it a bit now......mark
