Joined the club. Always enjoyed playing the VP version and sunk quarters into one whenever I came across it... finally had the ability to pick one up.

Won't lie, Iike @dnapac, I reserved the new mod kit before owning the game.

@benheck, when can we expect a mockup of the new playfield artwork?? I'm all in.

The game has some minor issues. Loses track of balls easily, power cycle and it plays just fine for 10 or so games... seems to happen around multiballs. Haven't searched yet. Sound is fine but callouts are garbled at times, hitting a flipper (when selecting skill shot) fixes the sound but nothing fixes it until ball drains when not launching the ball. Probably will update to the latest code with a new SD card. Will give a look at key posts and search.

So start cleaning up the game as soon as it was setup at home. Notice there is a wire unplugged under the playfield - that's a servo. Replugged and nada.

Warning flag for this game was when the seller had it all shrink wrapped and unable for me to play when I got there. Wanted to be one of 150 so bad I didn't care - not a big deal but being told 100% perfect and then clearly the servo was bad for the ghost and disconnected is not quite 100%. Maybe it is an honest mistake. Maybe the galactic center aligned with the stars and the servo just happened to become disconnected during the 15 minute drive and also happen to burn out.

Go to remove the servo from the mount and the plastic mount crumbles as the screws come out... I am glad spooky has dialed in their FDM a little better than this (just look at the nonadhesion between layers).

Now to find the replacement servo.

Quoted from Betelgeuse:

The good news is that the ghost servo is easy to replace and readily available. One important thing to note - When you put the flat plastic back on around the ghost, don't tighten it down all the way. You want to leave it slightly loose so that the ghost can spin freely. I've had my AMH since new and have had to replace each servo in the game one time. The morgue door is by far the worst.

yup - printed out a brand new mount and I'll put the details on here later for the direct replacement (alternative) to the HK servo spooky originally used.

just need more honest, straight shooters in the hobby.

Here are the servos that will work:

Oogie Boogie is coming to an AMH near you soon...

Perfect fit - the tombstone die lights up well, oogie not so much... but that's okay, was thinking of switching over to translucent abs like resin - additional LED for Oogie's head (let the eyes glow red), leave the eyes on the tombstone die translucent and paint the rest - they can glow whatever is programmed for that pcb.

I was afraid he wouldn't belong but actually fits in quite nicely.

Quoted from dnapac:

White Armour, topper, and ghost shooter rod. Next is Medisinyl mod set and replace the rubbers with glow titans. Playfield is near perfect. I can’t find any major wear.

I have that armor on order... will get here whenever our Halloween #68 gets here. Looks sharp!

Quoted from dnapac:

#68…congratulations…you’ll love Halloween! We have #12 and about 400 plays…so much fun. As far as AMH…we fell in love with it. We are going all out on this. A blast to play, great toys, but on the easier side, which appeals to our friends and is a great balance for our collection. Plus, the call outs are stellar!!

Quoted from dnapac:

So, I’ll ask the source. My door seems…weak. I blast it open and then the ball gets stuck behind it because it holds the door closed. Is this a servo issue. I’ve tried the servo settings, but eventually it seems to sag and becomes a problem again. Taking the glass off is the only way to free the ball resting against the door. BTW…version 23, and loving the game!!

Yank that puppy out of there and slap in a new servo.

See my post about this on what's in stock (from Amazon) and works.

Quoted from benheck:

So how would ya'll feel about a follow up America's Most Weird (urban legends)?

Only if it includes a pepper's ghost illusion somewhere.

I think a reciprocal mirror for the backglass would be cool (LCD behind displays ghosts/terrors, changes based on the mode... like a Bloody Mary pounding on the backglass trying to get out).

Quoted from dendoc:

Hi all.
The servo bracket for my hellivator lift has just broken. Trying to find the 3D print file on Ben's page. I found the "servo bracket" file but this looks completely different to the broken one. Was it modified at some stage? Trying some strong glue in the meantime.[quoted image]

It may just be different. I went there looking for the adobe illustrator files and they are missing entirely.

(Was going to retheme the pin to nightmare before Christmas and create new art, new playfield from the OG illustrator file... glad that didn't work out because I am remaking Mark's NBX instead).

I have another look as the files I downloaded years ago with fresh, they look the same as your computer screen.

Quoted from Happy81724:

Ok, thanks. I’m kind of getting nervous to buy it to be honest. I’ll have him check the code and build number. I have enjoyed other spookys in The past and we have Rick and morty that I love. I really want to play this as it’s their first. Might be better to try to find one in the wild vs spending 6k

Take the plunge. It is a great game! Updating it was easy.

Quoted from benheck:

The new "super servos" they're using on Halloween should fit I think? In the menu you can also adjust the toy extremity position (door open, closed etc) to make sure they aren't straining.
My next game is mostly DC motors and one stepper. #iHateServosNow

Something that requires torque, repeatability, and lasts longer than those stinking servos ... can't wait to see it [the stepper mech]

My coin door stopped working I found this black wire from molex connecter that came off. I believe it needs to be wired to the black wire on the start switch?

Quoted from Betelgeuse:

There's been a handful of them listed with the set that are in the archives now.
The last one was listed for only $6,750, and this was with a new playfield and color DMD too. It's pretty sad how pricing on this game has essentially not moved since it was in production, not matter how many upgrades are added. The games that I sold to buy AMH initially are easily worth 3x as much today.

We really love this game through and through.

I also love the 10 seconds it takes to boot and start a game compared to a modern spooky or stern.

Quoted from JeffF:

Never thought I'd sell but some health issues popped up and I'm clearing everything out.
We've had a basement arcade for over 20 years. I'm really not sure how my wife will fill all that empty space. LOL.

Hope all is well.
