I'm going to be listing my AMH prototype game soon. Just thought I'd give a heads-up here in the club thread.

It's a pretty decked out game that has tons of extras/mods.

I have kept a Google Photos album on it since I picked it up so you can see all the work done over the years.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/MtRwZf2jW5o3c9eM7
(Yes, it comes with both styles of backglass.)

I'll be sure to post the marketplace ad once I have time to create it. It's going to take a bit to list all the extras.

#2002 1 year ago

This will be the first one I have seen sold with Medisinyl's mod set. Will be interested to see what you list it for. I can't convince myself to part with it.

There's been a handful of them listed with the set that are in the archives now.

The last one was listed for only $6,750, and this was with a new playfield and color DMD too. It's pretty sad how pricing on this game has essentially not moved since it was in production, not matter how many upgrades are added. The games that I sold to buy AMH initially are easily worth 3x as much today.

My boys (6 and 8 ) always protest when I bring up maybe selling it too. Another good reason to keep it.

We really love this game through and through.

I also love the 10 seconds it takes to boot and start a game compared to a modern spooky or stern.

I'm with you on that. My friends love AMH too and would be disappointed if I ever sold it. I just wish it got the respect that I feel it deserves.

Never thought I'd sell but some health issues popped up and I'm clearing everything out.

We've had a basement arcade for over 20 years. I'm really not sure how my wife will fill all that empty space. LOL.

Sorry to hear it. Good luck with everything.

AMH is truly the best ghost hunting pinball not designed by a pedophile ever made!

Good morning fellow AMH fanatics.

I’m currently having an issue when I credit up our AMH and hit the start button…. it’ll go through the boot up sequence but not kick a ball out or start the game. It simply resets all of the shots/servos and then does absolutely nothing.

Has anyone else ran across this issue and have suggestions towards fixing this issue.

FYI: I’ve also recently had some “setting reset issues” such as when I shut the game off and turn it back on (the next day), the kick out goes from a setting of “5” and now is at a “9”. Or the pop numbers go from a “6” strength to a “0”.

Could the code have possibly gotten corrupted over time?! It currently has over 65,000 plays and want/need to keep this bad boy up and running - at least would like to see it get to 100,000 plays while it’s in my possession.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Feel free to DM me as well (if you’d like).

Can’t find hobbyking or tactic servos anywhere, anyone know what a suitable replacement would be? Would eg tactic tsx47 work? Thanks

I need new rubbers on mine. It currently has glow in the dark, but I was thinking of switching to white. Anyone have white on theirs?

#2019 1 year ago

I used to, but I changed to clear to let more light through.

Same… I was given the crazy trim with the game. I wouldn’t have picked that color myself but when life gives you lemons as they say… I’m happy how it turned out.

Just picked this up about a week ago and don’t plan on selling anytime soon. What an underrated game.

Ah, maybe I saw the for sale post you got it from. Welcome to the club!

Joined the club today. Having an issue with the sound, have to turn the amp pretty much up all the way to get it loud enough for my liking and there is some static/crackling very noticeable right before plunge and at end of the game. Have the music/SFX volume all the way to max in settings. The game does have flipper fidelity speakers installed so maybe the wiring is not right in spots, also noticed a cable plugged into the AUX on front of amp which I don't remember my Rob Zombie having. Maybe the amp is going bad also, any suggestions would be appreciated. You can hear the issue right at the end of the video.

I see after reading some posts in the thread that the sound issue is normal. Will think about doing the sound mod for a fix.

Mine does the same thing occasionally, and can perhaps even brick the game--recently had SFX error come up, rendering the game unplayable (glitched screen and game would quickly die if a start was attempted)...unplugging the audio brought the game back to life, and worked fine again with audio once plugged back in...weird. Jack on the board seems very loose fitting.

If you find a fix, please post

The Flipper Fidelity speakers are factory. Some static is normal with this game, but it shouldn't be overwhelming. I notice it most at the beginning and end of a game too, probably because there is just dialogue playing. You can try reseating the line-out jack where it plugs into the Pinheck board, but some static will always be there unless you mod the pcb.

I've got the DAC board on order, sounds like the mod will help quite a bit. Tried re-seating the line-out with no improvement.

How do you get an extra ball?

Finally got one by beating two ghost modes. Any other ways to get one? Haven't paid attention if there's one possibly through the spirit guide.

Extra ball after every 2 boss battles and collecting a number of “evps”.

I just posted a tutorial to my YouTube channel.

I always thought this game had a super plain back panel so I designed a 3d printed “railing” to add at least some depth to the area.

So last night I played about 5 games on AMH. I walked away and my girlfriend noticed a burning smell. I instantly powered the game off and unplugged it. Opened the coin door and the smell was stronger, like burning plastic. I checked all the coils and nothing was burnt or out of place. No smoke emitting from anywhere.

I just got this game shipped from several states away; embarrassingly enough I had not checked the state of the power supply before setting this up. Looking at it last night I noticed that during shipment it had broken off the 3D printed legs/feet and was upside down sitting at an angle. The power supply wasn't warm to the touch or anything. I re-oriented it and decided to not power the game back on until I got some advice.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I don't want to flip it back on and accidentally damage the game.

It could be a bad servo Spooky wasn't using very good quality ones back then.

If a servo gets stuck it can melt itself.

After 8 years of lurking, I can finally say I've joined the club! I actually found the AMH that I bid on at the Pinball Life party soooo long ago. I'm beyond excited that I got the opportunity to buy it a second time.

IMG_1244 (resized).jpegIMG_1244 (resized).jpeg

I've been a Spooky fan since the beginning, so this was a special find for me.

IMG_3077 (resized).jpegIMG_3077 (resized).jpeg

The game is in spectacular shape, but it's in need of a few mods. Any help tracking these down would be appreciated!

Prototype backglass
Color DMD (Hergs kit or Pin2DMD)
Medisinyl mod set

Incoming:
Topper (Laseriffic)
Glow rubbers (Titan)
Green translucent posts (Pinball Life)
Precision Flippers

Any other mods that I'm missing? It has mirror blades with the cutouts for the light bars so I'm good there.

I never saw any of the prototype backglasses available, but copies of the green version were available from Spooky not long ago.

Okay, found the culprit for the burning smell: benheck was correct, it was the ghost servo. It simply drops out from under the playfield with 2 screws and unplugging the cable. Now to find a matching servo and the ghost with un-live again!

Be sure to leave the plastic around the ghost a little bit loose when you re-install. Having it tightened down heats up that servo as it's harder for the ghost to turn.

The availabillity of any specific model seems to change all the time. The last replacement that I used was a FeeTech FS5109M. I have also heard of people using the Tactic TSX45. I'm sure there are others available now that are compatible. If in doubt, you can usually buy them directly from Spooky. Here are the specs from the TSX45 if you know something about servos.

Hello all.

I joined the "AMH club" roughly a year or so ago and have been having a heck of a time with my two switches that seem to be sharing the same circuit/connection... it's the right sling and the third trough from the kickout into the shooter lane.

For example: a few months back the game wouldn't start up stating that a ball was missing. So when I went into the switch test... it was showing that I was missing a ball in the trough (even though it was there). After replacing the switch and still not fixing my issue - I accidently hit the right sling with my hand and it must have separated the stuck switch (which I think the rubber was too tight across the front) and it started working again and showing that the ball was in the trough. Weird, right?!

Most recently... it is saying that there is a ball missing and no matter how I adjust the switches in the right sling - I can't get either the right sling or my ball trough switch to register.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions from someone who has experienced this before with their AMH would greatly be appreciated!!

Thank you in advance,
David
