Quoted from Wickerman2:

Poll MMr owners. I bet they hated the wait if they pre-ordered, hated the interactions via pinside, but are happy with the product.

I was a late purchaser of MMr and couldn't be happier, including the support that I got for two minor problems. I wish PPS and CGC success on AFMr.

One thing that others may have already commented on is that the two remakes so far are original themes. I assume licensing is easier this way, but if these remakes are going to be limited to unlicensed themes, there don't seem to be many WMS left at the top of the rankings with prices anywhere close to $8000:
- Tales of the Arabian Nights
- Circus Voltaire

Unless licensed themes can be made to work, this may be the end of the line for WMS remakes unless prices surge further.

Assuming licensing is not a problem, here's one potential estimate of the remake situation using WMS machines in the top 50:

Definitely a market at $8000 although quantity of demand is not certain (transaction prices above $8000)
- Medieval Madness
- Cactus Canyon

Probably a market at $8000 (transaction prices near or slightly below $8000)
- Attack From Mars
- Monster Bash
- Circus Voltaire
- Tales of the Arabian Nights

No way at $8000 (transaction prices below $6000)
- Twilight Zone
- Addams Family
- Indiana Jones
- Theatre of Magic
- Star Trek The Next Generation
- White Water
- Creature From the Black Lagoon
- Funhouse
- Scared Stiff
- The Shadow
- Bram Stoker's Dracula
- No Good Gofers
- Whirlwind
- Elvira and the Party Monsters
- Getaway High Speed 2
- Fish Tales
- Congo
- Road Show

Quoted from ezeltmann:

I know a MMr owner who received a machine (recently) and the ALL metal trim had sharp edges.
Several customers where getting cut (bleeding) while playing.
Customer services solution : They sent him a sanding block.
Buyer beware.

I can't tell if the remarks about this are serious or not. I'm also not sure how "sharp" these edges are. Mine were slightly sharp. 2 minutes with a Dremel and I was done.

If a problem like that is sufficient to sway a person's buying decision, that person shouldn't be buying NIB in the first place. I'm slightly amused by the number of people new to the hobby who buy a NIB MMR as their first machine and are shocked, SHOCKED, that it's not perfect out of the box like their new Playstation.

Quoted from Zitt:

My STLE was NIB... and there were no cut hazards anywhere on the outside of the machine.

My NIB Star Trek Pro had a wiring connector problem that I had to re-pin. I enjoyed my NIB Star Trek and NIB MMr regardless.

Whatever the reason is, quality control on pinball machines remain, to put it politely, behind the times and below the typical expectations for consumer goods. Pinball manufacturers could improve quality by double and it would still be leagues behind typical consumer goods.

Quoted from lordloss:

Thats why I did the air quotes, advertising a game, giving out contact info, all you didn't ask for is a deposit and you have a full blown preorder.

Advertising a car, giving out contact info, all you didn't ask for is a deposit and you have a full blown car sale.

Yeah, I think the last part is a big difference.

Given that MMr had two different powder coat color options (gold and black) and the option to go with stainless, I would think AFMr would offer green, black, and stainless. It seems like they should go with red, black, and stainless, though.
