Quoted from zaki:

what are the warranty periods for stern and jjp?

"on paper" 90 days, reality is much longer. I've gotten service from Stern a good year or 2 out with spare parts mailed. JJP seems to be the same thing. If they were sticklers, than AP's policy wouldn't stand out, but when you're the new guy you need to be twice as good as the big guys.

The reality is home owners need better service and care.

Ops in the old days would just solve the problem themselves and not give a shit about a warranty.

All these new companies that like selling to the pinball show crowd need to accept who their customer is.

Quoted from BMore-Pinball:

Exactly why you take care of this problem correctly the first time so you don't wake up the next day and find a 4+ page post of negative comments about your company

Like it or not, we live in a "Facebook speed" world. I personally hate it, I hate when I'm needed to respond to something for my own business, instead of letting it sit till the next day. I hate it, but I acknowledge it. To not acknowledge it gives you exactly what you said, waking up to 4 pages of negative commentary.

I'm curious, since it keeps coming up, why would the owner affect a warranty? Is it the buyer that is covered, or are they covering their product?

I bought a 3 year old car, and the computer blew a year later, and they gave me a free computer since it was a 5 year warranty.

Quoted from pbwizard14:

if it expressly states that the warranty is to the original owner only as some do, then once the item is sold, the warranty is gone and the new owner is on his or her own.

I'm still stuck at "why" they would not stand by their product, for the duration of whatever warranty it is.

In the end, new pinballs can only be sold to guys who have room and money. They get room and money by turning them over to a new buyer. The secondary market is very important to the entire pin ecosystem, even if the manufacturer doesn't make money on that secondary sale.

But I digress.
