Just picked up my first AP pin!

So after a few adjustments(scoop, trunk catapult)I think I have everything working smooth and fast. My trunk catapult is now at a 100% success rate(was hitting to the left 100% of the time)and my scoop(after bending it to a larger radius)is now shooting out a lot faster and less clunky. After making those adjustments this pin is a real joy to play. I can’t believe I second guessed myself about owning a Houdini for so long and I’m very glad to have Houdini in my lineup. With all that said I have a few questions for the Houdini pro’s…can I add a subwoofer to the sound system? My pin is on the current code and I was watching a Jack Danger stream that added CoOp play and was wondering if that is available as of today? I’m going to start digging in and try to get to some of the cool wizard modes and blow the score up! Awesome pin AP…and congrats on a solid pinball company!

Quoted from bobukcat:

That has never worked for me and I've tested it on the latest code too, I think it may have a lot to do with how steep you have your game and I leave mine steeper than recommended. I don't really care much because I have had it disabled as long as I've owned the game so there's nothing there for me to miss. The best addition to me, I guess because I've been asking for it for a long time, is that you can now see what film is ready so you can decide if you want to start it or not based on where you are in the game, what you strategy / goals are for that game, etc. There are a lot of other really nice additions too includeing one magic shop joke that about made me spit out my beer the first time I saw it so I definitely encourage everyone to update and enjoy it!

When does the stage eject supposed to happen? When ever I shoot in the stage it seems to always go to the subway system and shoots out of the scoop.

#13252 2 years ago
Quoted from bobukcat:

It's not random, there are certain modes that will eject (or at least try) after the mode (King of Cards) or mode start animations are over. Since mine has never worked I don't remember exactly which ones but I do know King of Cards is one of them as that's what I used to test it.

Thanks that helped out! I turned stage eject on and played the video mode(card toss) and when it was over the ball rolled out from the stage, so it worked. As of today my playfield is at 6.5 degrees at the flippers.

Quoted from pinstyle:

So is the stage kick out DOA? I enabled it to see what it does and it looks like the ball that is held in it lifted, pushed the ball I shot into it back a little then the curtain closed and the game went about its usual sequence.

I turned on the stage kick out on my Houdini and it works about 80% of the time and it’s pretty cool IMHO. The ball under the stage just forces the trapped ball back and if it has enough momentum it rolls out of the front stage and down the playfield…if it doesn’t go back in the hole.

Quoted from 27dnast:

Where in the settings menu do you turn it on? When does the kick out feature get used?

Go to menu select settings, then select features and it’s at the bottom of the page (10th from the bottom)labeled as “stage front eject”. It’s used during a few modes but still learning which ones but you will definitely know when it’s supposed to be used.

Quoted from Tuxedomask23:

Hi everyone!
I am joining the club in a couple of weeks. Question, when the head is down for transport is it the same height as say a stern?
My vehicle can fit sterns, Williams easy but not gotliebs. Width is not the issue just the height from the bottom or cab to the top of the head.
Thanks!

When I picked up my Houdini I used the same vehicle(Ford Explorer)that I used to transport all my Sterns. My Stern pins just barely fit and Houdini did also. It didn’t seem to be taller with the back box folded down and if it was it probably wouldn’t been able to fit. Hopefully this helps.

Quoted from Tuxedomask23:

ok that’s interesting! So the Houdini with the head down is possibly almost the same height?

I believe so but I haven’t measured it, just going off the fact that it fit just like a Stern in my Explorer. I think if we measure the top of the back box(where the topper would mount)it might be the same or close. I can do this for you tomorrow morning if that would help.

Had a decent game today and was able to collect all the Houdini letters to qualify the wizard mode. The Wizard mode was challenging especially with crossed arms and having to release the flipper buttons instead of pushing them in…but it was pretty cool to play. I didn’t get to knock off my GC but it was a fun to see the Wizard mode.

Cool pins! Hopefully you feel better and you’ll get a chance to dig into Houdini soon because it’s a treat.

Good game of Houdini today(almost had all Houdini letters )and pushed up my GC a bit. I made a few adjustments to the flippers and they play a bit snappier so maybe that helped with my score.

Hm? I'm not understanding the issue. You don't like the red lamps?

He’s probably referring to the targets that appear to be loose or bent.
