whom are the affiliated parties with this?

Rosh is coder?
Balcer is designer?

Whom made the board set?
Art?
DMD or display and artist?

Is it safe to assume this will be using pinnovators sound components?

Quoted from frolic:

I'm all for more pinball. I just hope for the love of God they don't take pre-orders. If AP can demonstrate they have their shit together and it's cash & carry, then I can get behind there being a new player in the scene.
So, come show the game, let people play it, and tell people they can buy one on Date X and leave it at that.

100%. No pre-order!

All will be revealed at TPF

#27 2 years ago

Quoted from Cornelius:

Apollo 13, Baywatch, Wizard of Oz, Godzilla, High Roller Casino, South Park, Starship Troopers, Striker Xtreme and The Simpson Pool Party? You don't like --any-- of those games?

LOTS of great games!
LOTS of GREAT layouts!

A13, BW, WOZ, Godzilla, SST are all top tier layouts and plenty of well done unique stuff!

Quoted from lllvjr:

Jpop has zero to do with the new Houdini

well, except for the original idea, theme, and fact that he is tied to the whole thing from the start.

I get that they are trying to distance themselves fomr Jpop, but without him Houdini never exists, period.

It's a good time to be in pinball again..

are they using any pinnovators products in the game?

will this be at MGC this weekend??????

#310 2 years ago

I am surprised after MGC of the fan fare, I found the right side shots to just be too tight to be fun (maybe I just suck) and not a whole lot of shots. I was able to hit about 2 shots with any accuracy. Aside from that I need to hold off any real judgement till I get a shot to play a few more games on a hopefully refined second version/build.

Very impressive on where they have come in such a short time and excited to see what it holds, but as for now my first impression was mixed. It was not very fun to shoot (I played 3 games to give it a solid show chance and watched probably 15 other games played), but some cool code ideas (as expected since Rosh is full of neat code stuff) combined with what I think is a cool theme and possibilities. I am hoping they make some tweaks to help it shoot better and look forward to where this goes. The ball toss is a cool toy/mech/idea in action!

Good luck Rosh and looking forward to how your code progresses!

curious if any "show deals" are available?

I would be up for buying a game with minor D that gets taken to a show for others to use and then I take it home from the show to put on route; assuming there is a price break for this.

Sounds like DeepRoot is dreaming of making their own Houdini?

http://thisweekinpinball.com/

"TWIP: Are there any updates on deeproot coming to agreements with American Pinball?

RM: Our attorney and AP’s attorney have traded emails over the last few months. As of today, there has not been an agreement. On or about November 29, 2017, John Popadiuk elected to exercise a provision in his contract with American Pinball (‘AP’) permitting John to license all work performed for AP for $99. While much of the John’s (original) Houdini design occurred before his work with AP, the final touches while with AP were intentionally scrapped by AP in September 2016. It is fortunate AP provided John/Zidware with the ability to retain that amazing discarded work. Mr. Popadiuk/Zidware have since assigned the referenced licenses to deeproot Tech, LLC. deeproot is excited to add John’s (i.e. the original) Houdini design to its portfolio of games."

can we see the flipper plastic in action?

cool idea!

Quoted from Ericc123:

So it looks like Houdini's are really starting to show up at distributors and on location all over the place. Any ideas on how many have been produced at this point? Maybe a rough estimate from Rosh or even a motivated individual adding up all of the posts on Pinside.

somewhere between 20-30 based on pinside posts but could be more since pinside is just a snippet

Of "Kugler Family Pinball", one of the best shooting custom games ever made. I wonder if that's AP's next theme!

I stopped to play the one at Cidercade last Thursday. It was super weak flippers (not possible to back hand the tight shots like others have suggested trying and left flipper barely able to make ramp).

Just mentioning since I told the bar tech and he said "that is how that game is". Assuming there is a power adjustment that you may want to tell them about.

#2524 1 year ago

how many of these will be at MGC?

I need more time on a production machine.

#2551 1 year ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

You sure do seem to have alot of trouble with weak flippers on games, whats up with that?

In the case of Houdini at Cidercade, it sounds like the flippers just needed the power turned up.

In the case of GOTG from Stern, they apparently discovered a bug in the code of Lonnie games on Spike and it needs to be fixed. Something with how he is handling all the data going between the node boards and main MPU where the pipeline was not big enough for the data chunks being jammed through it. One of their code team acknowledged that thsi was an issue at TPF and thankfully they finally discovered it. Hopefully new code pathes come soon for GOTG, Aero, and KISS (I have noticed it on GOTG and KISS, but assume it can also be an issue on Aero since a Lonnie game)
