Quoted from OLDPINGUY:It doesnt have to be over the top, to be fun.
If Priced well, it can have a bigger affect in the market, if all happens.
Im rooting for them, and fresh ideas.
Nicely said Art!
Nice too see what AP is/can be doing as opposed to the crap pile they stepped into from the get go!
Personally I give merit to each game manufacturer anything released is under such scrunity!
Watching from the side and hoping for all the best!
Think we are just starting to see a major change for what we purchase to put in our homes!
Way too go! Team AP....
Congratulations looking forward to the reveal and the pricing structure!
Going to be a lot of naysayers eating crow!
Would love too see a under play field picture of this game!
Interesting to see how far this game has come since its debut
Looking forward to this release, after all the abuse AP took to see this kind of quality product being made is amazing! Great job keep up the great work! Looking forward to what's next and a company that could possibly mass produce home brew games is very intriguing !
Will be watching with great hopes , all the best!
As the shaker , side art and invisible glass have been generated as add-ons, does this mean that all wiring will be in place to add the shaker after if not included in build time ? Will distributors be selling these direct to consumer?
As I have not had the opportunity to play or see this game , can anybody explain the "feel" of this pin? Having owned Williams/Data East/Spooky/Capcom and Sega games would like an opinion on the build of the American Pinball Product?
Have one ordered and very much looking forward to receiving the final product...
Really wish that Rosh would pick up the pace to answering questions? The 5 minute reply time is killing me! Lol
Nice to see AP being so quick with the concerns and questions brought forward ... Looking like AP is going to be great to deal with from the consumers point of view!
Any chance of a playfield being shipped to Cliffy? Would love to install the best protectors for my new game!
Quoted from VividPsychosis:Rosh can we get an update on code %
I think that the amount of code to date is very impressive and seems like more than a brand that will remain nameless! , has done on lot
I think that the amount of code to date is very impressive and seems like more than a brand that will remain nameless! , has done on lot of units! This being a first release is going to give this company the drive to get it right! I'm sure that adjustments will have to made , however on the quick response from #Rosh on any issues or questions instills faith in the product! As much as I would like this game yesterday, I'm willing to give the time required as AP seemingly wants to get it right!
Can a plug be installed for a plug and play topper? Comissioned Dan at Tilttoppers to make a topper for Pinball Magic and was going to do the same for my Houdini ? By far IMO his creativity for toppers is second to none!
Quoted from gliebig:Why did AP get involved with JP/ building MG in the first place?
Please please please ... Can we not derail this thread!
Quoted from rosh:(rosh now sits back and waits for suggestions to be thrown out
Too funny!
So the test games have the cabinet side art , does that mean that they will included in the production run!
Please everybody in Chicago area go test!
Let the production line begin!
Looks great.
Quoted from Yelobird:They are so close I am already chalking an outline on the basement floor
Knew they were an option(shaker& side art ) thought they were going to be aftermarket!
Perhaps only installed on the test games?
When you played the Houdini at the open house was the shaker installed?
Glad to read that you think they are going to be released soon!
Thanks for the reply
Quoted from PinMonk:You said they're talking about a cliffy at the scoop (or getting him a playfield so he can have them available day one).
Plus one vote.... Best protectors
Looking forward to the release! Updated. Website, test machines in the wild. Looking good for delivery soon (fingers crossed)
Quoted from flashinstinct:According to Tommy it's probably not going to happen
All good , appreciate the fact that the whole thing came together so fast!
Quoted from Yelobird:Is this a fact announcement or assumption?
Going to wait it out , The best part of this thread has been the openness that Rosh has created. Sad that a distro would jump the gun and cause a wave when all info has been straight from AP!
After all the effort that has gone into this project it would be nice to let AP announce the release and shipping of their game!
Couldn't take it any more distro paid in full ... First one in,coming home to me!
Can't wait but will, again amazing updates and information, love the USB updates without removing the back glass!
Merry Christmas to all at AP, get some well deserved family time and rest... All the best in 2018, thinking that's kinda a given!
Quoted from libtech:Sweet! If I didnt just grab a DILE that would have been
Will post when it arrives , your more than welcome to come over and play it!
Quoted from greenhornet:disappointing that only a single game of video has been published during the last six months.
How could you be disappointed when no other manufacturer has put such great effort into open communication ... Can't really tell that much till you play it yourself!
Quoted from konjurer:That being stated, American Pinball (Josh) has been freaking awesome and providing info on the development of Houdini. I most certainly would have bought something else had Josh not provided a steady diet of Houdini info.
Quoted from FlipperFreak:Anyone interested in purchasing one in Washington state feel free to contact [email protected]
Outstanding distro... Great support and years of knowledge... Buy with confidence!
Congratulations AP! For those lucky enough to get them, could you please post pictures and comments here:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/houdini-owners-club#post-4129053
We're just 3 shipped out before the new year? Please no offence to the "just" what a remarkable achievement!
Quoted from VividPsychosis:if my game is shipping out next week to the distibutor, will it have the pinblades
Somewhere in the thread it's mentioned that installs of the "extras" won't be done till the end of January...
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:How long have you been in line?
November .... Paid in full before Christmas ... First new in box for me ... Just amazed how the AP has been straight forward and on point with how the build came together. After reading horror stories of other pin manufacturing have let the customers down, I'm buying with great confidence!
Looking forward to getting the pin and looking forward to see what comes next from a great crew and support team!
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:I thought I was supposed to wait for communication from them first before paying i
Nitro is a very reputable distro here in Western Canada ... Great at supporting local shows , tournaments ect. As he is the direct contact to AP regarding my Houdini I fully take him at his word!
You are right regarding the small holding deposit (refundable) and complete payment when ready to ship!
Another reason to trust AP .....
Word from my Distro is that my game has shipped ... Will post unboxing here ....
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/houdini-owners-club#post-4116074
Quoted from MT45:Excited for you ... if you don't mind, when did you place deposit/reserve a spot?
As stated previously... Been a supporter of AP from the beginning... Wanted this machine from day 1 ... Ordered from Nitro when he became an AP rep .... So long ago can't remember!
These "Rosh updates" are the reason I respect AP... These are expensive toys , however the support and ongoing updates are remarkable!
When can I order Game #2
When mine arrives and the unboxing photos are posted,I surely welcome anybody around the Edmonton area with interest in this game to feel free to pm me and come by the house and try it out!
Any chance of getting the boxed dimensions... Picking up my game Monday or Tuesday from shipping depot
Thank you AP and Nitro , first Houdini arrived in Canada today!
The game came very nicely packaged with lots of goodies!
Most impressed with the flipper adjustment template!
Couple of tweaks and some more adjustments to come.
First impression, the pictures do not do this game justice, nicely built , forward thinking with the wire connectors to replace and repair the flipper and and other components!
All in all proud to be a supporter... Great job AP !
Great job Nitro
Big fan!
First NIB for me.. No disappointments!
Outstanding quality control!
Quoted from pins4life33:When is the launch party lol... Congrats looks awesome!!!
It's here ... Previously posted that anyone wanting to play it... Just PM me stop by have a game!
Gonna love it! Great game!
Pretty sad as I'm understanding that AP was instrumental in getting the Magic Girls out the door ... Punishment enough!
Carry on producing great product!
Loving mine!
Quoted from hawkmoon:the bugs,so when they hit homes, they will be "Magical"
All ready are Magical! Loving mine!
Quoted from Ericc123:Does anyone in this thread have one in their home
Mine is HUO ... And proudly the first in Canada ...
Quoted from Manimal:Houdini need to appear soon! lol
Your close enough to the source... Wait for them to open in the morning... Lol
Quoted from VividPsychosis:Okay! So I have told you the good. So rosh, here comes the bad and the ugly.
Had mine for 3 weeks ... None of these issues. Took time to set things for my liking , however nothing like mentioned above!
Quoted from Cobra:When you need to make these shots for a mode or to lock ball and miss 95% of the time it i
These shots are doable, I'm enjoying this game because it's not easy! If I get bored of a game it's going to clear the path for an other!
Don't see this happening anytime soon with this game!
Frustratingly Fun !
Quoted from rosh:I think you all have seen that overall there have been few issues and that is a result of Jim and Joe reviewing and adjusting every machine before they go into the box.
Think it's near impossible to build on mass with no issues , that being said ... The quick build time, and the almost instantaneous addressing of even the smallest of issues... Gives AP a lot of credit for their accomplishment!
Pinball is hard , however communication between customer and manufacturer in this case is beyond reproach!
Quoted from beatmaster:Can anyone tell me what's your coil setting for the upper catapult? for the past 30 games or so it do
Had the same issue , put a 1/4 spacer to lift up the wire form now works flawlessly. Mine was always hitting the top of the form ...
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Could you post a pic of this, area?
Sure....
Coil setting "8"
Quoted from beatmaster:not a big of a deal but they should add a 1/4" spacer.
In the big scheme of things , minor issue! Now that they think they may be an issue , I'm sure it will most likely be corrected!
Biggest reason that this is my first NIB is how AP communicates and resolves issues!
If the can do this in under 2 years , can hardly wait to see what they achieve in 5 years!
Can hardly wait to see what comes next, everybody says pinball is hard! Pinball may be hard however you guys are doing right!
Thanks for the parts manual ... Very nicely done!
Thumbs up! (Again) probably not the last time I will say this!
Quoted from ZEUS:waterwheel lock and not recognized. I tested all 3 of the switches there and they work, but game gets hung up and searches when it goes there sometimes. It will release it but has to search first...
I had this issue ... The 2nd micro switch needed adjusting, showed that it was fine in test , however when the ball was parked the blade was not making full contact!
2 minute fix!
Not being at TPF ... What was the overall reception about Houdini?
Seems like it got some great attention over the weekend !
Quoted from Heretic_9:not had the opportunity to rea
Boy oh boy you have a lot to read... Think you will find all your answers here... I've had mine since the beginning of January and you can bypass a lot of the info given by hitting the flippers.
Great product, produced by great people...
Quoted from t2000:Nothing wrong showing pictures of a Houdini with Pin Stadium installed.
Don't think it's showing a pic of Pinstadium lights on a Houdini as much as not accurately portraying the actual factory lighting system!
I'm known to like bright, however my Houdini is lit just fine...
Quoted from PinMonk:I go for King of Cards video mode first thing to get an extra ball right off the bat
Haven't seen the extra ball show up in the video mode...
Quoted from PinMonk:New code still coming late next week?
Thinking that you should give the man a break, although there are some small issues Rosh listens and reacts and incorporates many suggestions. If we are too needy this could result in longer waits for updates and as far as it goes we didn't have to wait years for the first. With more games going out the minor short comings will be apparent and I'm sure quickly resolved ...
Patience!
Quoted from pinballinreno:Thee is nothing you have stated that I experienced or agree on.
But to each his own...
Agreed ... Actually checked his collection as to what he was comparing it too!
Wondering how the shaker will be implemented into game play. The disappearing elephant is one ... Maybe somehow in seance mode...
?
Quoted from MT45:Topper pic - really like how it fits the theme, color and art style
Looks good , I'm waiting for Dan at Tilttoppers to finish his ... Coming soon! Big fan of his work.
Quoted from Malibu-SS:If it looks anything like their LOTR topper, looks like i will be spending some money
He has some outstanding toppers, the Jurassic Park is amazing, I commissioned him to do the Pinball Magic topper , I'm sure it's going to be a great add on to this game!
Quoted from FlipperFreak:Awesome!
The catapult never gets old, looks incredible in slow motion!
Quoted from Jamaster10:He now owns Game #153
Wow mine is #39 ... Nice job in getting these units down the line!
Quoted from PinMonk:Pop Bumpers:
Also adjustable in the settings menu, however I adjusted one of the leaf switches on mine as well!
Quoted from rosh:we should have it in the store in 2 weeks.
That long? Lol ... Thanks for the quick reply , will check in a couple of weeks ...
For those playing Houdini in arcade locations are really not getting the full experience! In a home environment you can fine tune this game to perfection!
Many issues in the previous posts do not exist on mine.
Don't base your decision to buy this superb game based on the arcade experience.
This game is a lot of fun, when set up correctly!
Never gets old!
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Good news, friends - today I got my PIF email! So Houdini will be on premises hopefully some time next week. Unbelievable! Can't wait
Congrats ... You won't be sorry!
Quoted from mcbPalisade:I wouldn't buy Houdini because it doesn't have a knocker. Won't buy a toy without essential equipment.
Deleted post ... Not worth it .... !
Quoted from Rferullo:Topper - Got to figure out which topper to go with. I like both
There will be a third ... Dan from Tilttoppers is making one as well!
Quoted from adamross:+1. I hate starting my game a majority of the time with an insult, sometimes 2 in a row.
My wife never plays , yet she's commented on my skills because of the callouts... Too funny!
Quoted from BarryJ:Knocker will be available shortly...
Same set up as the shaker ... Plug and play?
Quoted from mcbPalisade:Run the knocker on 110V, get noticed ( - :
Guess you can order one now!
Is there a 12 volt plug built in to run a topper... ?
Like mine to go on and off with my game!
If no... Is there a way to achieve this ?
Quoted from mcbPalisade:Soldering iron ( - :
Owner / Operator vs. user. Have a skit on this, goes something like:
"If you spend more time playing your game than working on it... you might be a pinball user"
Thanks for your egomaniacal posts the are so helpful ...! Perhaps you are one of the reasons that people with viable questions or concerns stop posting on Pinside
Perhaps more time taking care of your 2 EMs and your MMRr would be a better way to go!
Quoted from pinballinreno:ankfully all I see is ignored user for the above 2 posts.
I
Thanks for the tip ....going to do the same !
Quoted from pinballinreno:Thankfully all I see is ignored user for the above 2 posts.
"Poof annoyance gone"
Thanks again
Quoted from Habeboo:I wanted to make a design that really accented the artwork properly....
Actually all of Dan's designs are quite spectacular, great addition to the game!
Ordered one this morning and eagerly awaiting its arrival!
Quoted from Rferullo:That is really awesome! I love the colors. Where do I order one?
Email Dan at:
[email protected]
Quoted from rosh:Here it is installed, certainly possible cliffy will make changes
AP = outstanding product
Cliffy=outstanding product
Another win win
Couple of updates behind.. Do they have to be installed in sequentially? Or can I just install the last posted!
Don't understand the thinking? This is a game with many working parts, minor tweaks and adjustments are normal... No big deal!
The most outstanding thing to mention is the support from AP...
Constant updates, quick reply to issues .. Listening to customers!
If you think that this company builds poor product , perhaps you should buy from a company that thinks ghosting is normal , cabinets that fall apart, waiting a year for clearly defective play field replacement.. And so much more!
Thanks AP keep up the good work!
Quoted from Hogey:I've tried going up and down from the default but still am only getting maybe one out of ten to make the wireform and down to the right flipper.
I had this problem, I used a 1/4 spacer to lift up the wire form!
This resulted in perfect catapult shots into the wire form!
Problem for me was the ball when launched tried to rattle its way through! Posted pictures somewhere in the the thread!
Hope this helps!
Quoted from andrewket:Stuck ball,
Push the wires for the planchette in a little deeper, ball may go up behind , however it falls directly into the shooter lane!
When I install my shaker , will use a zip tie there as well !
Shaker came today, easy install!
Pleased with the use of shaker, love the perfect timing on the trunk lid slam! Have yet to feel it during "vanishing elephant"
Those awaiting your games well worth the price for this addition!
Quoted from WW2GURU:Quoted from transprtr4u:

Who did you order it from? AP or your dist?
Sure we both use Tommy ... But I just ordered off the AP site , came in 3 days ....
It's these quick replies , updates and concern for customer satisfaction that makes me proud to support American Pinball!
Looking forward to what the future has to offer!
Quoted from CUJO:is is happening a a lot to me as of late. I have tried moving the wires and turning the planchette a little to make a way for the ball to get thru but never seems to work long term.
Had this issue.... Pulled the wires towards the planchette and used a zip tie to hold them in place. If it happens now it rolls back into the shooter lane ...
Quoted from BladeFury:Sweeeeeeet! Just sent Cliff an email!
He's been very busy getting them ready! They look great and I'm sure like the rest of the product line they will function awesomely as usual.
Great product for a great game!
Where to buy?
</blockquoteBe patient , he's up to his ears busy!
Has a couple more items coming soon as well for Houdini !
Still very happy with my pin! The only thing I would like to an improvement on would be the chin magnet! The "hands" magnet on high send the ball in all kinds of directions but I'm not noticing much in the "chin" perhaps it's just mine or done by design!
Keep up the great work AP
Quoted from Parzival:any options I definitely need?
If I would order again would include all of the above and the knocker ....
Quoted from Parzival:Going to be ordering a Houdini soon, any options I definitely need?
Not a factory option , however an external subwoofer is a must, the expansion of sound just enhances the game!
Quoted from jkashani:Any suggestions to make it more, Bassy?
External subwoofer is a must on this game!
Quoted from Yelobird:Now on stage... The Houdini "Key Lane" 3D
Looks great ! Nice job ....
Quoted from bobukcat:I know new code is "coming" but it's really getting frustrating
Think about all the people that buy Stern games... IMO think AP has been doing a great job so far, very transparent and listening to input from us very finicky buyers!
Rosh said he would release code up date after a well deserved holiday!
Can hardly wait to see what is coming but the small issues will be worked out I'm sure!
Quoted from Strummy:How do the owners who have had Houdini for a while like it
Have game #39 since January ... Great game always a fun challenge to play! Very solid build, with spectacular art and a great support system from AP!
Win .. Win ... Buy with confidence!
Quoted from Vino:Did I just read that new code dropped and in less than 48 hours the man works Sunday to polish it?
Bar none best customer service you will ever find!
Buy with confidence!
Quoted from drummermike:When I put the stick in it was done in a second but now there is nothing.
Had the same issue ... Started from scratch re did the download and ensured my USB drive was clean ... Worked for me the second time !
Info please ... Since the last code update ( fantasic ) I've noticed that when going into a mode and the stage door closes and the playfield goes dark .. My spotlight no longer lights up the stage?
This game keeps getting better and better... Keep up the great work AP
Quoted from PrinzFred:You are right that is needs a fence.
Just a black zip tie . Pull the wires together zip tie and if/should the ball get up there, I rolls down to the shooter lane ... 2 minute fix!
Quoted from mbwalker:I'd likely install before anywear starts. I looked on Cliffy's site but didn't see anything specific for Houdini. Is this something I should get thru AP or directly via Cliffy's when available?
Email him directly ... Best way he has exceptionally busy!
Quoted from mbwalker:Anyone know how difficult it is to install on Houdini?
Have to remove the plastic and post by the scoop , clean the area real well, peel off the adhsieve strip, hook under the inside of the scoop and press down ... 20 minutes for lifetime of protection...
Great product for a great game
Quoted from mbwalker:Is that for the mylar, not the Cliffy?
The Cliffy ! Very easy to install
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Website has the new Update 18.8.5.
Try that. TILT working.
Funny call out on the tilt as well
Quoted from CUJO:Does it only talk to you when you've tilted the game?
Yes only after you have tilted !
Quoted from Hogey:I’m gettin’ there.
That's a great score! Many haven't reached that yet!
Quoted from PhantomO:Found this under the Houdini apron.
makes me want to take a peek under my apron
Houdini arrives in the Netherlands... 3 Amigos unboxing pics ....great exposure for American Pinball!
The store link on their main page takes you to only a portion of their items for sale. I have no idea why. This link shows you everything:
https://store.american-pinball.com/collections/all
Knocker is still in stock.Thank you .....now it won't take my code, will send off an email ......
Quoted from Ockeyhead:isn't there a separate thread for "Cats And pinballs"?
there is ....just couldn't resist
