It doesnt have to be over the top, to be fun.
If Priced well, it can have a bigger affect in the market, if all happens.
Im rooting for them, and fresh ideas.

Nicely said Art!

Nice too see what AP is/can be doing as opposed to the crap pile they stepped into from the get go!
Personally I give merit to each game manufacturer anything released is under such scrunity!
Watching from the side and hoping for all the best!
Think we are just starting to see a major change for what we purchase to put in our homes!

Way too go! Team AP....
Congratulations looking forward to the reveal and the pricing structure!
Going to be a lot of naysayers eating crow!

Would love too see a under play field picture of this game!
Interesting to see how far this game has come since its debut

Looking forward to this release, after all the abuse AP took to see this kind of quality product being made is amazing! Great job keep up the great work! Looking forward to what's next and a company that could possibly mass produce home brew games is very intriguing !
Will be watching with great hopes , all the best!

As the shaker , side art and invisible glass have been generated as add-ons, does this mean that all wiring will be in place to add the shaker after if not included in build time ? Will distributors be selling these direct to consumer?

#1124 6 years ago

As I have not had the opportunity to play or see this game , can anybody explain the "feel" of this pin? Having owned Williams/Data East/Spooky/Capcom and Sega games would like an opinion on the build of the American Pinball Product?
Have one ordered and very much looking forward to receiving the final product...

#1128 6 years ago

Really wish that Rosh would pick up the pace to answering questions? The 5 minute reply time is killing me! Lol
Nice to see AP being so quick with the concerns and questions brought forward ... Looking like AP is going to be great to deal with from the consumers point of view!

#1130 6 years ago

Any chance of a playfield being shipped to Cliffy? Would love to install the best protectors for my new game!

I think that the amount of code to date is very impressive and seems like more than a brand that will remain nameless! , has done on lot of units! This being a first release is going to give this company the drive to get it right! I'm sure that adjustments will have to made , however on the quick response from #Rosh on any issues or questions instills faith in the product! As much as I would like this game yesterday, I'm willing to give the time required as AP seemingly wants to get it right!

Can a plug be installed for a plug and play topper? Comissioned Dan at Tilttoppers to make a topper for Pinball Magic and was going to do the same for my Houdini ? By far IMO his creativity for toppers is second to none!

So the test games have the cabinet side art , does that mean that they will included in the production run!
Please everybody in Chicago area go test!
Let the production line begin!
Looks great.

#1492 6 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

They are so close I am already chalking an outline on the basement floor

Knew they were an option(shaker& side art ) thought they were going to be aftermarket!
Perhaps only installed on the test games?
When you played the Houdini at the open house was the shaker installed?
Glad to read that you think they are going to be released soon!
Thanks for the reply

You said they're talking about a cliffy at the scoop (or getting him a playfield so he can have them available day one).

Plus one vote.... Best protectors

Looking forward to the release! Updated. Website, test machines in the wild. Looking good for delivery soon (fingers crossed)

All good , appreciate the fact that the whole thing came together so fast!

#1574 6 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

Is this a fact announcement or assumption?

Going to wait it out , The best part of this thread has been the openness that Rosh has created. Sad that a distro would jump the gun and cause a wave when all info has been straight from AP!
After all the effort that has gone into this project it would be nice to let AP announce the release and shipping of their game!

#1616 6 years ago

Couldn't take it any more distro paid in full ... First one in,coming home to me!
Can't wait but will, again amazing updates and information, love the USB updates without removing the back glass!

Merry Christmas to all at AP, get some well deserved family time and rest... All the best in 2018, thinking that's kinda a given!

disappointing that only a single game of video has been published during the last six months.

How could you be disappointed when no other manufacturer has put such great effort into open communication ... Can't really tell that much till you play it yourself!

#1632 6 years ago
Quoted from konjurer:

That being stated, American Pinball (Josh) has been freaking awesome and providing info on the development of Houdini. I most certainly would have bought something else had Josh not provided a steady diet of Houdini info.

How long have you been in line?

November .... Paid in full before Christmas ... First new in box for me ... Just amazed how the AP has been straight forward and on point with how the build came together. After reading horror stories of other pin manufacturing have let the customers down, I'm buying with great confidence!
Looking forward to getting the pin and looking forward to see what comes next from a great crew and support team!

Nitro is a very reputable distro here in Western Canada ... Great at supporting local shows , tournaments ect. As he is the direct contact to AP regarding my Houdini I fully take him at his word!
You are right regarding the small holding deposit (refundable) and complete payment when ready to ship!
Another reason to trust AP .....

These "Rosh updates" are the reason I respect AP... These are expensive toys , however the support and ongoing updates are remarkable!
When can I order Game #2

Thank you AP and Nitro , first Houdini arrived in Canada today!
The game came very nicely packaged with lots of goodies!
Most impressed with the flipper adjustment template!
Couple of tweaks and some more adjustments to come.
First impression, the pictures do not do this game justice, nicely built , forward thinking with the wire connectors to replace and repair the flipper and and other components!
All in all proud to be a supporter... Great job AP !
Great job Nitro
Big fan!

#2259 6 years ago
Quoted from rosh:

I think you all have seen that overall there have been few issues and that is a result of Jim and Joe reviewing and adjusting every machine before they go into the box.

Think it's near impossible to build on mass with no issues , that being said ... The quick build time, and the almost instantaneous addressing of even the smallest of issues... Gives AP a lot of credit for their accomplishment!
Pinball is hard , however communication between customer and manufacturer in this case is beyond reproach!

#2279 6 years ago
Quoted from beatmaster:

Can anyone tell me what's your coil setting for the upper catapult? for the past 30 games or so it do

Coil setting "8"

#2286 6 years ago
Quoted from beatmaster:

not a big of a deal but they should add a 1/4" spacer.

In the big scheme of things , minor issue! Now that they think they may be an issue , I'm sure it will most likely be corrected!
Biggest reason that this is my first NIB is how AP communicates and resolves issues!
If the can do this in under 2 years , can hardly wait to see what they achieve in 5 years!

#2300 6 years ago

Welcome Barry!
So does this mean we will 2 AP reps dealing with all the questions?

#2311 6 years ago

Can hardly wait to see what comes next, everybody says pinball is hard! Pinball may be hard however you guys are doing right!

Quoted from t2000:

Nothing wrong showing pictures of a Houdini with Pin Stadium installed.

Don't think it's showing a pic of Pinstadium lights on a Houdini as much as not accurately portraying the actual factory lighting system!
I'm known to like bright, however my Houdini is lit just fine...

#2671 6 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I go for King of Cards video mode first thing to get an extra ball right off the bat

Haven't seen the extra ball show up in the video mode...

#2775 6 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

New code still coming late next week?

Thinking that you should give the man a break, although there are some small issues Rosh listens and reacts and incorporates many suggestions. If we are too needy this could result in longer waits for updates and as far as it goes we didn't have to wait years for the first. With more games going out the minor short comings will be apparent and I'm sure quickly resolved ...
Patience!

If it looks anything like their LOTR topper, looks like i will be spending some money

He has some outstanding toppers, the Jurassic Park is amazing, I commissioned him to do the Pinball Magic topper , I'm sure it's going to be a great add on to this game!

For those playing Houdini in arcade locations are really not getting the full experience! In a home environment you can fine tune this game to perfection!
Many issues in the previous posts do not exist on mine.
Don't base your decision to buy this superb game based on the arcade experience.
This game is a lot of fun, when set up correctly!
Never gets old!

#3143 6 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

If no... Is there a way to achieve this ?

Owner / Operator vs. user. Have a skit on this, goes something like:
"If you spend more time playing your game than working on it... you might be a pinball user"

Thanks for your egomaniacal posts the are so helpful ...! Perhaps you are one of the reasons that people with viable questions or concerns stop posting on Pinside
Perhaps more time taking care of your 2 EMs and your MMRr would be a better way to go!

#3726 5 years ago

Couple of updates behind.. Do they have to be installed in sequentially? Or can I just install the last posted!

#3793 5 years ago

Don't understand the thinking? This is a game with many working parts, minor tweaks and adjustments are normal... No big deal!
The most outstanding thing to mention is the support from AP...
Constant updates, quick reply to issues .. Listening to customers!
If you think that this company builds poor product , perhaps you should buy from a company that thinks ghosting is normal , cabinets that fall apart, waiting a year for clearly defective play field replacement.. And so much more!
Thanks AP keep up the good work!

#3806 5 years ago
Quoted from Hogey:

I've tried going up and down from the default but still am only getting maybe one out of ten to make the wireform and down to the right flipper.

I had this problem, I used a 1/4 spacer to lift up the wire form!
This resulted in perfect catapult shots into the wire form!
Problem for me was the ball when launched tried to rattle its way through! Posted pictures somewhere in the the thread!
Hope this helps!

#3850 5 years ago

Push the wires for the planchette in a little deeper, ball may go up behind , however it falls directly into the shooter lane!
When I install my shaker , will use a zip tie there as well !

#3888 5 years ago

Shaker came today, easy install!
Pleased with the use of shaker, love the perfect timing on the trunk lid slam! Have yet to feel it during "vanishing elephant"
Those awaiting your games well worth the price for this addition!

is is happening a a lot to me as of late. I have tried moving the wires and turning the planchette a little to make a way for the ball to get thru but never seems to work long term.

Had this issue.... Pulled the wires towards the planchette and used a zip tie to hold them in place. If it happens now it rolls back into the shooter lane ...

Keep up the great work AP

Now on stage... The Houdini "Key Lane" 3D

Looks great ! Nice job ....

I know new code is "coming" but it's really getting frustrating

Think about all the people that buy Stern games... IMO think AP has been doing a great job so far, very transparent and listening to input from us very finicky buyers!
Rosh said he would release code up date after a well deserved holiday!
Can hardly wait to see what is coming but the small issues will be worked out I'm sure!

#4992 5 years ago

Rosh ;
Are you not supposed to be on holidays ?

How do the owners who have had Houdini for a while like it

Have game #39 since January ... Great game always a fun challenge to play! Very solid build, with spectacular art and a great support system from AP!
Win .. Win ... Buy with confidence!

When I put the stick in it was done in a second but now there is nothing.

Had the same issue ... Started from scratch re did the download and ensured my USB drive was clean ... Worked for me the second time !

#5316 5 years ago

Info please ... Since the last code update ( fantasic ) I've noticed that when going into a mode and the stage door closes and the playfield goes dark .. My spotlight no longer lights up the stage?

This game keeps getting better and better... Keep up the great work AP

Quoted from PrinzFred:

You are right that is needs a fence.

Just a black zip tie . Pull the wires together zip tie and if/should the ball get up there, I rolls down to the shooter lane ... 2 minute fix!

Quoted from mbwalker:

I'd likely install before anywear starts. I looked on Cliffy's site but didn't see anything specific for Houdini. Is this something I should get thru AP or directly via Cliffy's when available?

Email him directly ... Best way he has exceptionally busy!

#5415 5 years ago
Quoted from mbwalker:

Anyone know how difficult it is to install on Houdini?

Have to remove the plastic and post by the scoop , clean the area real well, peel off the adhsieve strip, hook under the inside of the scoop and press down ... 20 minutes for lifetime of protection...
Great product for a great game

Quoted from mbwalker:

Is that for the mylar, not the Cliffy?

The Cliffy ! Very easy to install

#5474 5 years ago

Does it only talk to you when you've tilted the game?

Yes only after you have tilted !
