Has anyone successfully installed the scoop Cliffy?

I appear to be missing something in that it doesn’t seem to fit, to big. Any advice and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

#9674 4 years ago

It’s real so I know it should fit. Perhaps I just haven’t removed enough for it to be clear to me but optically, it just looks out of proportion.

I’ll do a little research deeper in the thread to see if I can find the reference. Thanks

#9679 4 years ago

Thanks for the detailed Cliffy response. I’ll give it another try with a little more patience.

This all seems so complicated. It’s a HUO machine. Do you think it is necessary to do/worth the effort?

I bought the Cliffy. I sunk the cost but worried I’ll screw up a perfectly calibrated , nicely playing machine for a piece that might be overkill.

I’ve owned mine for a few months and I still can’t get a respectable score. Any advice on strategy, how to attack the game?

Quoted from rosh:

Four quick tips for high scoring

Thanks for the insight. I’ll give it a shot.

Quoted from MMP:We've got a few people in this thread now talking about the ball tracking issues with beta code. I was solid for many months and had tracking issues within 1 game of beta, I think it's fair to say the code still has some bugs that need to be resolved. It's one of my favorite pins and I really hope it can be sorted out eventually.

Ten days ago or so there was a lot of activity on the thread regarding the beta code. Not so much since. Any updated thoughts from those of you that are trying the new code?

Loaded the new Beta code. Quick and easy. 20 games in, like most everyone else that has reported back, no major issue to report.

Unfortunately, my personal experience is that the new code apparently hasn’t conquered how to make a terrible player any better.

Running the beta code. Game worked fine yesterday. Tonight upon boot up, about 10 seconds in all the coils start firing. If I open the coin door the firing stops and boot up completes but Game won’t start. No ball ejects even though graphics are working and audio is talking through instructions. Some switches work If I touch with my finger but no flippers no ball eject. Basically no game play.

Ideas?

Quoted from zahner:

Did you email josh (aka ROSH) or one of the other API folks? Did you reinstall the most recent non-beta version or try to reinstall the beta?

Reinstalled latest official code. Unfortunately the problem persists.

Filed a service ticket. Hopefully I’ll hear back soon.

#10476 3 years ago

I may have found the culprit to my coil firing issue but not sure how to fix it.

Grey, purple, blue twisted wire is disconnected from under the Houdini’s just above the flippers. Assuming that is where the wire needs to be plugged in, I have a problem. There are two male possibilities next to each other on the board right below the ribbon cable.

To which male plug do they attach. The two look to be keyed identically (all 3 male pins to female plug).

As so many have stated before me, American Pinball service is the best. I started sending notes and emails around 11:00pm last night (Saturday night) and both Josh and Dave responded.

Josh got me all straightened out and playing again. Many thanks to all of you who chimes in.

Not sure if you still need it, but just in case, here's a pic

Appreciate you looking into it just the same.

No, not an owner. Just do more than our share keeping those owners financially sound.

Of course i know that part of the world. Spent many an hour playing basketball and coaching baseball at Blair.

I’m a Houdini owner. 2nd owner, HUO.

I’ve been lucky enough to have never had any catapult issues, no scoop issues and I don’t think I’ve had any flipper collapse issues. I’m a terrible player so I may not have noticed. I love the game.

Questions, Is it worth purchasing and installing the coil improvement kit or should I leave well enough alone? If if it is worth installing, what should I expect the improvement shown to be?

Any of you Houdini owners have an Oktoberfest they want to part with? I love my Houdini and want to add to the family.

Any of our esteemed and attentive American Pinball friends on this post have any updates on when an official Houdini code update will be out of beta testing and available as a full release?

Since we are on the topic, any update on when the official update will be released? @Rosh? @Ferret?

I don’t think I’ve ever had an air all come to rest on top of a pop bumper before.
