I picked up one of the demo models from Cointaker at Pintastic. I agree with a previous poster in that there is not a lot of bass from those speakers. Sound clarity is there, and the amp they used is capable. It is the same amp that is in Rob Zombie, and that pin kicks. I can't do an external sub (house rules, nothing under the pins), so I am trying to come up with another (internal) solution. I could install my own cab sub, but I don't really want to drill through the botton of the cabinet....I need to think about this more....while I play this AWESOME pin.

Quoted from jkashani:

Installed an external subwoofer (polk SPW 10) today and although it does sound better, it still lacks that boom I thought I would get. Any suggestions as far as dialing in for a better sound? Otherwise, the game is stellar just lacks in the sound department. Maybe a speaker upgrade will be available at some point.

The polk subs are pretty good. Is it possible that the audio in the game simply lacks lower frequency sound? Maybe increase the frequenct cutoff on the low-pass filter. I also have a powered sub that I have yet to hook up. I am looking for a smaller form factor sub that I can hide (not under the pin).

Love this game.....especially the soundtrack, and that techno-steampunk sound sample. Whose idea was that? Good stuff.

Anyone else adjust the sensitivity of their pops? Mine weren't too responsive, but after a quick adjustment, they are nice and snappy.

Had a few friends over last night, and had all of the machines on. For the first time in a while, the trunk catapult missed. Normally, I just have one game on when I play and it makes the shot every time. This morning, with only one machine on, it makes the shot without a problem. I wonder if other draws on the circuit "could" effect the catapult? I did have the plastic out around that area (painted milk can to bring out the detail in the sculpt) but I don't think that would affect it. Anyone else notice anything like this? I am going to test further with the settings and having one or more machines on the same circuit. The trunk shot is such a neat feature, I would like to adjust it so it makes it when all the machines are on in the lineup.

FYI, I had a spare powered sub sitting around, so I decided to try it out on Houdini. It....sounds.....amazing!! I set the crossover to filter out anything above 120Hz. Huge difference, IMHO. If you are thinking about doing it, do it. Easy to hookup tot he amp and well worth it for the home environment.

I'm hosting a tournament on Sat, and I noticed game times on Houdini can be fairly long. Any suggestions on how to reduce the game times while still keeping the game fun and fair to play?

Thanks.

Thanks for all the feedback on tweaking the settings for tournament play. I'm going to adjust the recommended settings and see how it plays. I want to preserve the fun, of course.

Some players in my tournament reported some issues with Houdini. I was able to witness the following:

On 2nd ball in two-player game (p1, b2), it would eject two balls into the shooter lane instead of one. I placed one in the trough, and it ejected another back into the shooter lane. I placed both balls in the trough, and two balls were ejected into the shooter lane.

This problem was reported to me several times throughout the day. Most of the time, I play one player games, and have never had this happen to me.

Any thoughts on this issue?

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Sounds like a trough or shooter Lane switch, opto or related problem.
Something is not registering and the computer is confused.
Does it have the current code?

It does have the latest. I will check the switches next. Wanted to do it right away, but it is too difficult in a tournament setting.

I noticed a HUGE difference in coil strength the other night during my weekly league. For starters, this pin was on a circuit with other pins, as well as an AC unit. I had to move the popcorn machine to another circuit because the AC, 5 pins and it blew the circuit. Seems like a slight power issue, but I noticed something similar happening in AFMr on the same circuit.

Someone suggested a UPS with voltage regulator. I am going to try this and experiment. In reality, I think I need to move some devices to different circuits.

I plan on ordering the upgrade power supply, but I have been working on another issue I am hoping some folks can chime in on:

Direct shots to the stage usually bounce out. Some ricochet shots from the pops to the stage bounce out (not often, but sometimes).
I have adjusted the flipper strength down to where it feels good and can make all the shots. Same result for stage shots.
I go under the assumption that most direct shots to the stage should NOT bounce out.

I was going to try some deadening foam strips on the sides and back of the stage. My thought was that it will absorb some of the energy of the ball, perhaps enough to keep it in the stage.

Any thoughts on how I can make this shot more reliable?

Thanks.

Anyone ever get what seems like a random 2-ball MB? Not sure if this is legit or not.
