After reading the interview that was released this morning by This Week In Pinball regarding the new pinball company “deeproot”, I sure hope the pending legal stuff doesn’t end up delaying this game from being launched. Seems like a big mess right now and it would really suck if American Pinball is forced to delay this wonderful game. Hope everything gets sorted out guys.

#1427 1 year ago

TWIP: Is it possible that deeproot could delay Houdini manufacturing?

dr: We wish American Pinball the best in their pinball efforts. However unresolved legal issues they helped create need to be addressed and resolved. Right now their arguments have no apparent contractual or legal basis. They put themselves in this position and have the power to take themselves out of it. There is little to nothing they can blame John for, though I’m sure they will try.

Let’s think outside of the box for the match. Instead of it being a random animation that results in a random number how about an end of ball bonus that requires you to hit a certain shot or start a certain mode in 3-5 seconds. These ball bonuses could also increase in difficulty if the machine determines a high number of free plays.

Quoted from Yelobird:

Intereresting idea. How would that work for the majority of people that have their machines on freeplay?

I think it could behave how it currently does for games on Freeplay. Just disable the bonus ball option in settings.

And that magic nice.

Quoted from vireland:

You said they're talking about a cliffy at the scoop (or getting him a playfield so he can have them available day one). Is this looking likely? It's getting pretty close to still be talking, and that will DEFINITELY need protection.

While Cliffy's are damn nice and everything, my guess is AP have bigger fish to fry then trying to worry about shipping a playfield to Cliffy so he can make the protectors. You keep harping on the Cliffy's like it is a deal breaker and it's simply not for a lot of people. Let AP perfect this machine to what it should be and get it shipping, and then at that point they can worry about Cliffy's. They have hundreds of buyers with down payments already and 99% of them are going to purchase the game regardless of the Cliffy being ready at shipping.

While I wish AP the best, this seems like a very aggressive timeline. Good luck!

This is an exciting time of the year, not only for Christmas, but also for Houdini as it begins shipping next week!!!

Quoted from Gexchange:

Our first 5 we are going to be sending out to public locations so as many people who want to play it can. One Location in Cali, One in Washington DC, 1 In Denver, Co, 1 in Seattle and one in Wyoming.

Where at in DC?

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

WHERE in DC? lyman’s?

Hopefully VUK.

Quoted from Rob_G:

The game looks neat and the price point is attractive. But the girl giggle (?) sounds like a hyena and I think that part is extremely annoying. I've only read bits and pieces of the thread, but I know this has been mentioned. Maybe it will get changed?

Nothing has changed. However that setting can be adjusted in the settings.

#1670 1 year ago

Can you please post the tracking #? Thanks!

Any update on the DC location?

Quoted from Mike_M:

Was at VUK on Thursday and it’s not there yet either.

It's confirmed going to Lyman's.

My girlfriend loves the D, so if you have any on discount let me know.

Quoted from pinghetto:

I've glanced over the thread, but I wasn't sure the details on the instructional narration and if there will be a way to dial it back. Will there be something like a pro or novice adjustment in service that could lessen the amount of instructions for a home environment?
Game looks really awesome AP. Definitely thinking about bringing one home.

Flippers can cancel it out.

Quoted from hawkmoon:

What exactly are we speaking of when they say "Magic Glass" P.D.I. or invisaglass,or the HD Glass Stern has???

Something similar but it's their own product.

Quoted from westofrome:

Played Houdini for the first time today and had lots of fun. There didn’t seem to be instant info, hope this is coming? I got to put my initials in for high score #3 and the only score I could get to show in attract mode was GC.
Put me down for team knocker. The most satisfying and possibly most iconic pinball sound, standard equipment on literally decades of games, a big part of what made me fall in love with pinball. Removing the knocker is penny wise and pound foolish IMO.

Where did you play at?

Will this game(s) be at the Allentown show?

Yes, probably 4 at minimum.

#2936 10 months ago

Delaware Pinball will be streaming Houdini at 2pm est. This will be our first time ever touching the game.

Quoted from monte_:

I played about 20-25 games today at an arcade today. I found 2 shots to be extremely difficult, the milk jug and the lock loop for the chest. I feel like the lock loop for you have to have not only some skill but some luck. I want to know if it is really that hard even after you have played the game a couple hundred times. I had no games where i got 3 balls into the lock mechanism and to get into milk jug was luck. I guess you have to be perfect off the end of the right flipper. Someone post and let me know. I was thinking of purchasing it. Anyone unhappy with the purchase because it is too challenging or like with any pinball machine it gets easier as you play it more?

Played it for the first time last Sunday. After about 5-6 games I started backhanding the lock shot. It’s not something I could do every time but I would say it was close to 75% of the time. It’s very doable, but you have to be precise. As for the milk can shot, I really didn’t purposely try and make that shot.
